THE TRANSITION

CHAPTER 3

Bright and sunny weather with a cool breeze,

Churchill took a taxi to Lavee's college which is one of the best and most famous schools in America.

In the taxi, he looked so happy because he has come to study in America and also to meet his girlfriend who is one year older than him LaVees college has been his dream school since he was a child.

Meena was Churchill’s first love he trusted Meena with everything he has

” I promise to be good and also take care of myself”

Meena made this promise when she was leaving for college.

Because of the love and trust Churchill had for Meena, he trusted her words so well and promised the same thing.

Meena gained admission before Churchill since she was older than him. Their age difference was not a big issue to them

“ Age is just a number” was their motto.

When Churchill gained admission at LaVees college he did not inform Meena because he wanted it to be a surprise.

“ I can not wait to see Meena. I know she will be very happy to see me too we both miss each other” he smiled.

Churchill kept glancing through the window, looking at the scenery, the place looked so beautiful beyond his imagination.

He had heard a lot about this place, but seeing it with his own eyes brought a new whole feeling. He was looking around the place keenly, looking at Churchill’s behavior, it looked like that of a newborn baby who just came out of his mother's womb and looking around the environment.

“Wow, I wish I had come here earlier,”

Churchill thought, as he could not stop grinning happily

The driver was quite surprised at his behavior

“ I can see you are very happy, Are you a stranger here?” asked the taxi driver.

“ Yes Sir am a stranger and a student as well, I will alight at LaVees college Sir ” he smiled.

“ Ok Mr.” the driver replied

They drove twenty minutes from the airport to the college

“ Here is LaVees college, study hard and be good” said the driver as he smiled

“Thank you very much Sir” Churchill replied as he bid farewell to the driver.

He was astonished when he saw how big the college was.

“ Wow! Wow!

Finally ! finally!

I am in my dream school. How I’m I going to find Meena in this big college he sighed.

I hope to see Meena soon, I know for sure she is going to be happy to see me” he grinned

He was avoided by many students because of his shabby dress. Others were making fun of him

” Who is this? I don’t think he is a student. He doesn’t look like one “

they whispered to each other with laughter.

Churchill overheard them he felt bad but that did not stop him from expressing how happy he was to be in the college.

He didn’t mind taking in all the insults as long as he gets to be with his princess, he is fine with that

“ Hello Miss,

please do you know Meena a fair slim cute girl with round eyes she is very beautiful. A second-year student.”

Churchill asked a lady he came by with boldness

“ Oh yeah, Meena I know her” replied the lady

“ Can you please take me to her dormitory?” Churchill pleaded with the lady

“ I’m sorry I can not take you to her dormitory am late for class. Who are you to her if I may ask?” the lady asked

“ I'm her boyfriend in fact her fiance” Churchill replied with boldness and a smile

“Are you serious!?

Her fiance!

You must be joking right?

That can’t possibly be true, maybe not the Meena I know ” asked the lady

The lady after hearing Churchill's words ignored her class and took him to Meena's dormitory

“ that is her dormitory, I hope you can take it from here?” asked the lady

“Thank you so much for your time Miss, I hope we can be friends my name is Churchill a first-year student” Churchill replied

“ I’m Tyra a second-year student, you’re welcome to Lavees college see you around some other time Churchill”

Tyra smiled as she waved to Churchill

Churchill walked to the door and ranged bell with excitement all over.

He ranged the bell several times but no answer, a lady came out later and asked

“ Hey young man who are you looking for?”

Churchill walked two steps back, glared at the lady, and replied

“Good day Miss I’m Sorry to disturb you I didn't mean to........ errm..

The lady interrupted

“ Good day….I asked whom you are looking for?”

“ I’m Churchill and am looking for Meena,” he replied with

“ Meena…!?

Which Meena are you talking about?

Are you sure you are at the right place ?”

the lady asked as she looked weirdly at Churchill from head to toe

“ And if I may ask who are you to Meena?”

“ Please if she is in tell her Churchill her fiance is here” he smiled

“ Her what..really!

You are her fiance!?

You are kidding me, right?

Com'on get out of here with your filthy rags you call a cloth ” the lady ranted, but was surprised when Churchill did not urge.

She put on a serious face as she asked Churchill

“ Ok fine she is not around you can wait for her at the gate she will be back soon. I hope she does not bail out on you if you are in the wrong place ” replied the roommate

“Has she gone to class?” Churchill asked.

“No, I said she has gone out!” replied the roommate

The lady entered the dormitory as Churchill waited for his fiancee he leaned on the wall since he was not given a chair.

He was not pleased with the lady’s behavior towards him, he got a little worried but waited patiently for Meena.

Churchill rang the doorbell again and asked for Meena’s number but he was not given the number because she wasn’t sure Churchill was after the Meena she knows.

He went up and down the compound waiting patiently for his princess to show up. Indeed he was overwhelmed.

An hour time an expensive red Ferrari pulled over in front of the dormitory Churchill peeped to see who was driving such an expensive car since it was his first time seeing such, he saw a man driving and Meena his girlfriend was cheerfully sitting beside the man in the car.

“Oh my God is that not Meena?

What is she doing in such an expensive car” he asked himself

Churchill got angry but he told himself that maybe they were common friends. He calmed his nerves with his thought.

Meena did not realize the presence of Churchill.

He watched as the man came down to open the door for Meena, and he gave her some money.

Meena was overjoyed that she hugged and kissed the man in front of Churchill. She was getting comfy with the man right before Churchill’s eyes

Churchill was shocked and heartbroken, he could not believe what was happening

“ is this a dream?” he asked himself.

He just stood there looking at his girlfriend hugging and kissing another man. The Ferrari left and his girlfriend walked straight to the gate, when she got there she saw Churchill standing there, looking at her painfully.

Meena was stunned, she dropped the money with her mouth open in shock.

Churchill couldn’t hold back but dropped a tear he held his chest as he leaned on the wall.

Been quiet for a while Meena asked

“errhm... Chur….Churchill errmm…. What are you doing here? How and when did you get here? Have you been standing here for long?” Meena stammered and asked in a panic.

Churchill could not utter a word but sighed still leaning on the wall.

“ I can explain is not what you think Churchill don’t take it seriously...?

He is no one trust me, you know I can't hurt you, right? Please say something” she said in an embarrassed tone she spoke.

“Why Meena,?

Why did you do this to me?

What have I ever done to deserve this heartbreak from you?

You promised to wait for me and to stay faithful, Do you remember how you whisper to me age is just a number which you never mind” Churchill asked in a broken tone

“ I…. I….”

Meena tried to speak but she just couldn’t find the right words to explain herself. She never had it in mind that she will see Churchill here in LaVees in this awkward situation

“Is this what I get for all the waiting I’ve been waiting?

Do you know how excited I was when I made it here?

This was supposed to be a surprise, never did I know it is going to turn out this way I would not have come”

Churchill said already broken, he wiped away the tears which wouldn’t stop flowing as he smiled sadly

He now understood the behavior of Tyra and Meena's roommate when he asked of her

“So this is the life you choose to live after everything Meena ?” he asked with a sad smile

“ Guess you don’t need to answer….it is written all over you... I have gained admission here and am a student of Lavees college now but do not worry I won’t interfere in your private life….see you around Meena”

he smiled as he walked away.........
