The Fighter Returns

Jaden stood outside the MMA gym, staring at the large sign above the glass door.

It read “OctaFight Training Center.”

The same place he used to train before everything changed.

He touched the scar on his arm — except, there was no scar anymore. His skin was clean. Still, when he closed his eyes, he could feel the pain from the battles in the other world.

The sound of swords. The smell of blood. Kael’s voice.

He shook his head. “It was just a dream,” he whispered to himself. “Just a dream.”

But it didn’t feel like one.

When he opened the door, the smell of sweat and rubber mats filled the air. Fighters were training inside, punching bags and sparring. Some stopped when they saw him.

“Yo, Jaden! You’re alive!” one of them shouted.

Another guy laughed. “Man, we thought you were gone for good! What happened to you?”

Jaden forced a smile. “Just… needed rest.”

They welcomed him back like an old friend, but he felt strange. Their faces looked the same, their voices sounded normal, yet everything felt smaller — slower — compared to the world he had been in.

He went to the locker room, changed into his training shorts, and wrapped his hands with bandages. His muscles looked harder, sharper, even though he hadn’t trained for a week.

When he walked to the ring, the coach, Mr. Damon, looked surprised.

“Jaden,” the coach said. “Didn’t think I’d see you so soon. You sure you’re ready?”

Jaden nodded. “I need to move my body.”

The coach sighed but smiled. “Alright. Light sparring. Don’t hurt anyone, got it?”

Jaden didn’t answer.

He stepped into the ring. His partner was a tall fighter named Rick — strong, fast, and one of the best in the gym.

Rick grinned. “Let’s see if you still got it, champ.”

The bell rang.

Rick came forward with quick jabs. Jaden dodged them easily — too easily. His body moved on its own. It was like his senses were sharper. He could feel every movement, every breath, even the sound of Rick’s foot brushing the mat.

Rick swung a heavy punch. Jaden tilted his head slightly, the punch missing him by inches. Then his hand moved before he could think — a quick strike to Rick’s ribs.

Rick fell back, gasping for air.

The whole gym went silent.

“Whoa, that was fast,” someone whispered.

Jaden stepped back, frowning. He hadn’t meant to hit that hard. He felt strange again — like something inside him was waking up.

“Let’s go again,” Rick said, trying to catch his breath. He knew Jaden has always been beaten. He was the weakest among them.

Jaden nodded slowly.

The second round began. Rick came with a high kick this time, but Jaden saw it coming before it even happened. He moved in close, blocked it, and spun behind him — his fist stopping right before Rick’s face.

Everyone watching shouted in surprise.

The coach blew his whistle. “That’s enough! Jaden, what the hell was that? You’ve been out for a week and now you fight like a machine?”

Jaden lowered his hand, breathing calmly. “I… don’t know.”

Rick rubbed his face and stared at him. “Man, that was scary. It’s like you knew what I was going to do before I did it.”

Jaden didn’t answer. He just looked down at his hands. They were shaking again.

When training ended, everyone kept talking about his “new power.” Some said he must have been training in secret. Others said it was luck.

But Jaden knew better. He had seen death, blood, and war. He had fought for survival in a world that made no sense. That world had changed him.

He sat alone in the locker room, staring at the floor. The sounds of the arena echoed in his mind again — the crowd, Kael’s voice, Ragnar’s last words.

Then he heard a soft voice behind him.

“Jaden?”

He turned. It was Lena, one of the gym’s assistant coaches. She looked worried. “Are you okay? You’ve been quiet since you came back.”

Jaden forced a small smile. “I’m fine. Just tired.”

She hesitated. “You… don’t look fine. When I saw you fight out there, it didn’t look like you. It was like watching someone else.”

Jaden looked down at his hands again. “Maybe I am someone else.”

Lena frowned. “What do you mean?”

He didn’t answer. He just stood up and grabbed his bag. “Thanks for checking on me. I’ll be fine.”

As he walked out of the gym, Lena watched him, her eyes full of worry.

Outside, the night air was cool. The city lights glowed around him. Cars passed, people laughed on the streets — everything was normal. But Jaden felt far from normal.

He stopped at a crossing and looked at his reflection in a shop window. For a brief moment, he saw Kael standing behind him again, his faint shadow smiling.

Jaden blinked — and the image was gone.

He rubbed his temples, confused. “Get it together, Jaden,” he muttered. “It’s over. That world is gone.”

But deep down, he wasn’t sure.

He could still feel the burning in his muscles — the kind that came only from real battle. He could still hear Kael’s voice saying, Remember your world, Jaden.

As he walked home, his phone buzzed. A message appeared from Coach Damon:

> “Big fight this weekend. You in? The Octa Championship. Big prize money.”

Jaden looked at the message for a long moment.

Part of him wanted to say no. But another part — the part that had lived and fought in the other world — wanted to feel that rush again.

He typed back:

> “I’m in.”

Then he put the phone away and looked up at the night sky. The stars looked the same as they did in the other world.

He whispered softly, “If that place was real… then why do I still feel like I left something behind?”

The wind blew past him, carrying the faint sound of cheers again — just like before.

He closed his eyes and smiled faintly. “Guess I’ll find out soon.”

And as he walked into the darkness, his shadow stretched long behind him — shaped like a warrior still trapped between two worlds.

THE FIGHT NIGHT The sound of cameras filled the room. Reporters shouted over one another, trying to get a good view of Rico Blaze. He stood tall on the stage, his expression calm but proud. Every flash of light seemed to make his scar glow even brighter. People were screaming his name. “Rico! Rico! Rico!” The energy in the hall was electric. He was known as the undefeated champion of the underground MMA world. No one had ever beaten him. He was strong, fast, and dangerous. And now, he was going to fight Jaden Cole — the fighter who made a name all for himself within a twinkle of an eye. The two men faced each other. Cameras clicked rapidly. The announcer spoke loudly, “Ladies and gentlemen, this is the fight you’ve all been waiting for — Rico Blaze versus Jaden Cole!” Rico walked up to Jaden and stretched out his hand. His grip was firm, his smile confident. “Hope you’re ready, kid,” Rico said with a small smirk. Jaden met his eyes calmly. “I was born ready.” They shook hands

The airport was crowded that morning. People moved in every direction, dragging bags, talking loudly, rushing to catch their flights. Jaden walked quietly beside Punisher and Damon, his hood up and his bag slung over one shoulder. He didn’t say much — just followed their lead through the security checks and into the waiting area. The moment their flight was called, they boarded quickly. Jaden sat by the window while Damon took the seat beside him. Punisher sat across the aisle, busy scrolling through his phone. But something about the takeoff didn’t feel right. As the plane started to rise into the air, Jaden’s hands gripped the armrest tightly. His breathing changed. The roar of the engine grew louder in his head, and suddenly it wasn’t just a flight anymore — it was something else. His mind flashed back to the darkness, the screaming, the endless falling he had seen in his dreams since the day he disappeared for seven days. His vision blurred. His chest tightened. Then his

After Caleb left that day, everyone at the gym couldn’t stop laughing. Punisher, Damon, and even a few other fighters made jokes about how Caleb had run off with his tail between his legs. “I bet he won’t come back tomorrow,” one of them said, grinning. Punisher chuckled. “That kid looked like he saw a ghost. No way he’s stepping in here again.” Jaden sat on the bench, unwrapping the tape around his hands. He didn’t laugh. Deep down, he felt bad. He hadn’t meant to scare Caleb. He just wanted the boy to take training seriously. Maybe he had gone too far. Maybe his voice had been too cold. But the next morning, when Jaden was in the ring doing his warm-ups, something unexpected happened. The gym door opened, and Caleb walked in. Everyone went silent. The skipping ropes stopped. The punching bags stopped moving. Even Damon froze mid-step. Punisher raised an eyebrow. “Well, look who decided to show up.” Jaden’s eyes widened for a moment, then a small smile crossed his face. He cli

had only been a few days since Jaden’s fight with Southpaw, but already, people were beginning to notice something different about him. Something they couldn’t quite explain. Most of his classmates and gym mates couldn’t stop talking about him. It was like everyone suddenly became obsessed with the “new” Jaden. Some said he must have found a secret trick to fighting better. Others said he was just lucky. But no one could deny the truth — Jaden was changing, and fast. He wasn’t like the others anymore. While most of them came to training tired, lazy, and sometimes complaining, Jaden was always early. He trained harder, longer, and with more focus than anyone else. He didn’t joke around much. He didn’t laugh at their jokes or talk about the things they usually talked about. He only spoke when he needed to, and even then, his tone was cold. A few of them noticed that the warmth Jaden used to have — that friendly smile and the spark in his eyes — was gone. Now, his eyes looked distant,

The next morning, just when Punisher thought the drama was over, Xavier returned to the gym. He came with two black cars and a wide smile that didn’t reach his eyes. The moment he stepped inside, everyone went quiet. Jaden was skipping rope while Punisher was wrapping Damon’s hands for sparring. “Good morning, gentlemen,” Xavier said, clapping his hands together. “I hope I’m not disturbing.” Punisher stood up slowly. “You again?” he muttered under his breath. Xavier laughed softly. “Relax, old friend. I didn’t come to fight. I came to make peace… and maybe a deal.” Behind him, his assistant walked in carrying two large boxes. She placed them gently on a nearby bench. When she opened them, the gym lights reflected off what was inside—brand-new gloves, training pads, and a custom-made championship robe with Jaden’s name stitched in gold letters. “This,” Xavier said proudly, “is for the new champion. The best deserves the best.” Jaden blinked, unsure how to react. The gifts look

After the defeat of Boulder and Southpaw, the world of MMA exploded with Jaden’s name. It was like everyone suddenly woke up to realize a new monster had been born in the ring. The moment the fight ended, videos of his knockout flooded the internet. Sports blogs, fan pages, even news channels were replaying that same moment when Jaden landed that final punch on Frank Bernard. Everywhere you turned, someone was talking about Jaden Cole — the youngest champion in UUFC history. And it didn’t stop there. Within just two days, Punisher’s phone wouldn’t stop ringing. Every time he looked down, there was a new email, a new message, or another call from a top fight organization. Big names like UFC Gold, Prime Combat League, and Global MMA were all trying to reach him. Some wanted to offer training deals, others wanted interviews, and a few wanted Jaden to fight for them exclusively. It was overwhelming. Punisher didn’t even know how to handle it anymore. His small gym, which had been hal
