Walking briskly towards them was Derick, the manager of Fintech company and the same person whom Lucas had wanted to go and confirm if he was now the owner of the company.

Just now, what Derick yelled didn’t only get him by surprise but even Callum, Tristan, and some workers who were watching in the corner in hopes of seeing how Lucas would be beaten up, had their jaws falling to the floor.

“I’m sorry Lucas for what happened before. I should have known that you didn’t steal the money nor should I have called the cops on you without properly finding out about it.” Derrick bowed quickly as he reached where Lucas was, shocking everyone again.

This time it felt like their eyes were playing tricks on them as they couldn’t believe it was real. The manager of the company was bowing and apologizing to a nobody. A thief who was recently locked in a cell for stealing? What the heck was going on?

“Mr. manager, what are you doing? Do you not know that this punk is the same Lucas who stole money from the company’s account?” Callum stepped forward intending to open Derrick's eyes if he was falling to see reality.

Smack!

However, a slap resounded as Derrick's palm pressed on Callum's face with a loud bang that made him go numb for a moment.

“How dare you talk ill of the new CEO? Lucas is now the owner of the company, and I am warning you to be polite to him or else you are courting death!” Derrick snorted at him.

This fool is trying to get me fired, huh? I was even shocked when I was contacted by the higher-ups saying the company had been sold to Lucas Ross, the same man whom I had humiliated. If I had known I wouldn’t have called the cops to arrest him. Derrick was full of regret as he went back to bowing and waiting for what Lucas would say.

First, Lucas had just confirmed that the system wasn’t a joke, and it was indeed true that he was now the owner of the company. The excitement brewing inside him was enough to make him yell his lungs out in joy, but he tried his best to retain his composure.

A smirk appeared on his lips as he stared at Callum and Tristan who had wanted to beat him up. The pale expression on their faces made him smile even more.

“Stand up Derrick.” Lucas finally said in a bossy tone. “I believe you now know what these men have done right? Have the guards beat them before dragging them to the police at once!” Lucas ordered ruthlessly.

After all, he was just paying them back in their coin. When they did that to him, they didn’t have any remorse whatsoever. How could he pity them now? His life had taken a drastic turn and from now he wouldn't be the same pushover he had always been. Showing them mercy would also mean he was weak that was why he would use them as an example.

“What? Are you trying to tell me that punk Lucas is the new owner of the company?”

“Wasn’t he the one who got framed for stealing just yesterday? How the heck did this happen?”

“Did he suddenly hit it big after being arrested yesterday?”

“Ooh my god, I’m going over the roof! I can’t endure this at all. The punk who’s just a normal worker like us has now risen to riches? How can I brag that I am more dignified than that punk?”

The workers who were lurking around whispered among themselves. Their heart heaved heavily in their chest while a panic expression settled on their face.

“Guards! Guards! Guards!  Come and drag these two punks out quickly!” Derick yelled at the top of his lungs and shortly after two burly men with security uniforms walked into the vicinity

“Yes, boss!” The guards spoke as soon as they arrived, while Derrick turned to point at both Callum and Tristan.

“Beat them into pulp before sending them to the police station for theft and framing someone for theft! The evidence was in my office, you can take it all to them.” Derrick said with a solemn expression.

Seeing how serious he was, Tristan and Callum knew they were done for.

Thud!

Immediately, they fell to their knees right before Lucas and were almost about to hold his legs. Tears emerged at the brink of their eyes as they knew they were done for if they got locked up.

“Please Lucas, forgive us. On account that we were colleagues before, please be magnanimous to let us off. We will never do such a thing again. Please pity us.” Callum pleaded while rubbing his palms together.

“Yes! Please, Lucas. Tristan forced me into this. You know you have always been my buddy. Please don’t let them take me away. I promise I won’t do any stupid thing to you again.” Tristan also begged. Snort kept dripping from their noses, but Lucas remained cold.

“Take them out!” His face was stone-cold as he spoke, and the guards quickly heed his orders.

“Please, Lucas! Please!” Both of them kept begging but to deaf ears. Lucas didn’t even spare them a glance anymore as he then looked at Derrick.

“Let’s go right?” He asked.

“Yes of course,” Derrick said, shivering before quickly leading the way to his office.

Under the gazes of so many, Lucas walked on high shoulders. The people who mocked him recently and even bashed him were now his workers. Well, he would see what they would do about that! Ha hahaha. A smile crept on his lips as he enjoyed how he left them stunned and speechless.

Soon they arrived at the manager's office and Derrick didn’t dare to be impolite at all as he was sure that Lucas would fire him. He was now in his late fifties. Who would want to employ someone old like him now? Besides, the kind of salary he was getting here was six figures a month. Which place would offer him such an amount, as he would be starting as a low-level employee? Fear surged inside his heart, and immediately he dropped to his knees.

“Please Lucas, I was so dumb and blinded before and didn’t believe you. On account that we were friends before, please don’t sack me. I beg of you! I have children, if I lose this job I won’t be able to cater for my family at all!” Derrick reduced to his knees while Lucas was now seated in the manager's seat.

Even after Derick knelt, there wasn’t a single remorse in his face. Rather, he looked cold.

Seeing this, Derrick had wanted to beg again, when Lucas cut him off.

“Shut up.”

  • Happy at last, the end

That night, Freya wore a sexy lingerie, revealing her perfect body and curves as she set the dining table, while Lucas watched, mesmerized by her body. He leaned back in his chair, a smile tugging at his lips. “How much I’ve missed this,”he thought, the sight of her filling him, something hadn’t felt in a long time.“Everything looks perfect,” Lucas said softly, his voice breaking the quiet. Freya glanced at him, her eyes shining. “I wanted tonight to feel special,” she replied, smoothing the tablecloth with her hand. Lucas stood, unable to stay seated any longer. He walked over and slipped his arms around her from behind, resting his chin lightly on her shoulder. She let out a small laugh, surprised but happy, leaning back against him. “I’ve missed you,” he whispered, his voice low and sincere. Freya turned her head slightly, catching his gaze. “I’ve missed you too,” she said.I smiled wearily as my hand started caressing her bare skin, she inhaled sharply and I could see h

  • Visiting Davis

They had almost walked to their car to leave the Prison, when Lucas slowed down and he looked Freya thoughtfully.“Freya,” he said quietly, “before we leave, I want to see President Davis.” Freya stopped on her tracks, her eyes widening. “Lucas, no. I don’t want you to see him. That man has caused us pain for so long. Why would you want to face him now?” Lucas’s gaze was steady. “Because I need to. I need to look him in the eye and know that he can’t hurt us anymore. There’s nothing to worry about, I promise you.” He answered calmly. Freya shook her head, her grip tightening on his hand. “I don’t trust him. I don’t want you anywhere near him. Haven’t we suffered enough?” Lucas stepped closer, his voice gentle but resolute. “I understand how you feel. But this isn’t about him anymore…it’s about us. I need to do this, for my own peace.”Freya hesitated, her heart pounding. She searched his face, seeing the determination there, and she sighed, her shoulders relaxing. “Alright,”

  • Visiting Dianne

Three days later, the morning air at the airport carried a mix of excitement and sadness. Lucas and Freya walked on either side of Daniel, their steps slow, as if they wanted to stretch out the moments before he had to leave. Daniel held his small suitcase in one hand, his boarding pass tucked neatly into his jacket pocket. He looked calm, but his eyes betrayed a flicker of nerves. Freya glanced at him and smiled softly. “You’re really going back today,” she said, her voice warm but tinged with emotion. Daniel nodded. “Yeah. Work’s waiting. I can’t put it off any longer.” He paused, then added, “But I’ll miss this. I’ll miss you both.” Lucas gave a short laugh, trying to lighten the mood. “Don’t get too sentimental. We’ll be leaving in two days ourselves. Just need to tidy up a few loose ends before we go.” Daniel looked at him with gratitude. “I know. Still, it feels strange. We’ve been together almost every day, and now suddenly we’re scattering again.” They reached the

  • Getting his life back

Daniel pressed the phone tighter against his ear, uncertain if he had caught Camille’s words correctly.“Sorry… could you repeat that?” he asked, his voice carrying a mix of disbelief and hesitation. “I said you back Daniel, not just as my employee, I want to make you a senior advocate. And along with that, I’ll be increasing your salary.” She said clearly for him to hear properly.“You mean… senior advocate? Officially?” He asked after a brief moment of silence, this was too good to be true.“Yes,” Camille replied without hesitation. “Officially. You’ve earned it. Back then, I’ve seen the way you handle cases, the way you stay late, the way you push through even when things look impossible. That kind of commitment deserves recognition, and I want to make sure you’re rewarded for it.” “And it was shame on us for loosing someone as great as you, we should have investigated what happened then properly Daniel, instead of assuming.” She added and Daniel let out a shaky breath. • Please we need you

Two days passed. The trial that had shaken the nation was over. President Davis, once untouchable, had been sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole.Daniel sat across from Lucas in a quiet room, the tension of the past days finally easing. His hands rested on the table, his eyes distant, heavy with thought. “It’s done,” Daniel said softly. “I cant believe my father has finally gotten justice.” Lucas leaned back, studying him with a steady gaze. “You fought hard for this Lucas. What will you do now?” Daniel hesitated, his voice trembling with uncertainty. “I don’t know. For so long, everything I did was about him, about making sure his death wasn’t forgotten. Now that President Davis is gone, I feel… empty. Like I don’t know who I am without the fight.” Lucas leaned forward, he said calmly. “Then it’s time to live for yourself. Your father wanted you to have a life, not just a battle. You’ve honored him. Now you need to decide what future you want…whether it’s

  • Going somewhere?

The courtroom had already been shaken by the arrests of Davis’ associates, but Gabriel’s lawyer was not finished. He stepped forward once more. “Your Honor,” he said, “we have one final piece of evidence. A video feed.” The judge gave a go ahead and the lights dimmed slightly as the screen flickered to life. The room held its breath. On the screen appeared grainy footage, but clear enough to see the people in it.It was President Davis and his voice rang out, cold and commanding. “Take him out. Make sure he never speaks again.” The camera shifted, showing the moment the order was carried out, Daniel’s father was shot down mercilessly. The courtroom gasped, the horror of the scene pressing down on everyone present. Gabriel’s lawyer turned to the judge. “This footage was given to Lucas by Late Mr Hector. Even in his death he still made sure justice would be served.”Daniel’s face crumpled, grief and rage colliding in his eyes, he bowed his head, unable to watch.“We have one mo
