44.3_ Third Tragedy

Chapter 44.3: Last farewell to the past

‘adponon’: a spell that pinpoints the location of a group creature. The command can vary from the numbered individuals ex: “The second to last soldier of the third row” to a specific individual ex: “Kryos Asmodeus”. The mana consumption varies to the difficulties of the search as well.

typhoon’: one of the five spells from the series of [‘apocalypse’]. Summon a cluster of whirlpools that tear apart airborne creatures in the area of effect. The omen of wind comes with the subtraction of the sky from the second day of creation.

Genisis flood’: one of the five spells from the series of [‘apocalypse’]. Start the warning of a horn to summon the endless water of those creatures who dwell only on land. The omen of water comes to erase the boundary that separates the land from the sea on the third day of creation.

‘Fimbluvinter’: the spell created by Mikhail. Cast a snowstorm in the vicinity area. If interact with water, the spell begins to create crackles of ice like how lake water has frozen at the beginning of the winter.

[ Judgement of mortality]: The sepharim of life and death’s authority. Azazel by the principle of the former sepharim to create a condition itself to the authority which wasn't restricted before and won’t. Only the sinner whose burden is greater than forgiveness may have their lifespan taken away.

[‘Miraculum’]: The usage is unknown, and the condition is also unknown. There are just many writing about how one uses them on different occasions did it make to the official library. It’s a one-way direct plead with God.

[Matasyn’s pov]

The current time….The new moon of the second moon, that kind of calendar is a scholar's usual use rather than the sundial. So it has been comfortably two weeks of time in this kingdom. Well, when compared to my cold domain of the north or the human kingdom, the climate is rather harsh.

To combat these kinds of conditions, the homunculus sovereign creates various technologies. In which, I find traces of mixing with the paradiso technology. They are quite compatible with the current population as the demons used with well-versed efficiency.

“Would you care for some teas, Mr.Matasyn?” The chancellor, Andromalius approach me with a pot of tea. He was the second one welcomed beside that homunculus; to have a connection with the fallen prince Kryos Asmodeus, the 72nd Ars Goetia’s demon earl welcome without reservation.

“Did the youngest one kick you out of the office again?” I ask. Only until very recently does I notice how hard the homunculus seem to push himself. And somehow through the words of some demons, it gave out its blood as gifts.

Such strange displays of mentality. As the demon who called himself the dark bishop explains, it took the excuses of angels’ behavior to justify its strange behaviors.

“Quite so, they are busy with work so much that they don’t people in,” I add to diffuse the situation. Lately, the other demons seem to ease up to my presence. I guess I can call this place my new home for a while before wandering the wasteland after the war for experiments.

“I am afraid so, it must have…” Somehow, the various presence of holy magic surged forward from the east of the border. I must alert the homunculus of a possible

“Mr. Matasyn? What the matter?” As the pot of tea just brews to the brims, Andromalius drops with he is doing. It’s quite alarming does he react so easily this way, given the history of unsolicited conflict recorded by a specific demon king of poison.

“The homunculus is in the office, correct? You will have to accompany me with this, Andromalius.”

Needn’t a second later, the homunculus rushed over as it is the best equipment that it has made possible by the envoy of sloth. The cloak is from the material of a dragon scale and patches with Uriel’s jewel, the staff circuit that it synchronizes with its mana flow.

“Sir Andromalius, execute the plan. This time, you must run too.” Mikhail says with utmost seriousness. Andromalius reacts quite badly to that, as the huge demon reduces to a pitful state as is on the verge of tears. What has it done to him?

“…I wish for your safe return your majesty.” Andromalius collapse his hand and send a wave of sound through the spell ‘echo’. It starts a chain reaction that ruptures the four bells at a soundwave that is lower than the ears of non-demonic creatures and can’t be heard.

With the disappearance of the chancellor, multiple pillars of light can be seen at the four corners of the capital. The surge of energy comes onward calling for designated teleportations. The output of those pieces of machinery and formulas is flawless without the transmission loss to account for.

“Time to pay for our sins, I suppose. I wish this day would come later.” Caught off guard, I catch the gleam of those eyes. Ferocious as they put it, those golden gems are readily preparing for every mauling of the future.

“…Come with them if you are afraid.” The homunculus speaks coldly. Through those days of working meticulously, it cast aside “unnecessary” emotions.

“The two of us will make a delay for Saudade’s citizen to escape. As its sovereign, I must stay behind for what is left to take pride in.” Continue with those actions, I am not a man with encouraging words so I am just going through with the current flow.

It is going to make me sound idiotic but I am not left for it to become another swinger like him. For it to retain as much humanity as possible, those mechanic obligations will choke it some days if left unchecked from this point onwards.

“Good point. How many?” Appluade to the can-do attitude, its voice has become somewhat softer.

“Estimation roughly about 20 000 of standard, a thousand of healers and a thousand follows after as archers.” The number of enemies isn’t concerning with the number of spells this artifactual weapon. Though I have never seen those spells in action when seldomly visited the garden.

“What about the leading?” I ask.

“Azazel and Raphael. The only explanation is brainwashing, I should leave the beasts you create to deal with the standard.” The homunculus calculated, from those heavenly eyes.

“How ruthless, no more wavering this time,” I comment.

“You know, a dog can’t bark against its master’s order and a saint always purge a sinner without fail. False or not, I will only do this for the citizens.” I look toward the approaching line of angels without blinking.

[‘senstire’] Those eyes light up for a moment, the heightened sense spell that none would have pulled due to their backlash when you run out of mana before canceling but it has a ridiculous amount so I guess it won’t be soon.

[‘adponon’] “Center”. It pinpoints the location in the center of the army would be. Ridiculous, what is it trying to do? Raphael would heal them up in no time so why bother casting a large area damaging spell?

[‘Typhoon’] A cluster of wind starts to form at the center of the leading army. Their formation collapses the second the spell form correctly. Torn wings scatter with corpses. An omen of the apocalypse was to see it use such a complex spell leisurely. I am scared of what it has in my rest with its strange normalcy.

[‘Genesis flood’] A horn can be heard, warning of the coming flood. Another omen, twisted into the chaotic battlefield. Its eyes glow a stronger shade of golden, it tried to manage both omens into one as the flood begins to combine with the cyclone.

Such a horrifying scene, the scream almost make me feel trouble as the villain who cut down those angels without giving them a chance to fight back. As the water dirted with the clump of corpses, the scream stop. I can’t even see Azazel and Raphael at all. Maybe this is a trap.

“I think it would be enough. You overexert yourself over something insignificant.” Collecting myself, I order from the top of my torn mind. How can one be so calm after such a massacre?

“One more, give me the mana potion, Matasyn.” Reluctantly, I give Mikhail one of the high-grade potions. Brewing one cost me many hours of researching only to be beaten off its production rate, I envy how practical it transforms the knowledge into.

“I dedicated this spell to the fallen port. A failure that won’t let happen a second time.” As it said, the ground on which we stand turns frozen in a second.

[‘Fimbluvinter’] The cluster of wind and liquid holding in mid-air freezing from the furthest to the inner core. All but cracking as the omen of wind stops howling and the flood water started to drain. A giant bubble of corpse shatters into the snow below, the odor can be smelt from afar in the veracity of a kilometer.

“Thing has gotten easy for us,” I comment, looking forward at the entrance I can’t find anything that moves at the moment. All but the misty terrain, the eerie silent flow with cutting wind.

‘Dispelled’ “They have not come yet, there is no use to relax so early.” Mikhail points at the distance mist.

From the mist of snow, two figures emerge from the torn army. I guess no angels else left to survive such an attack. Azazel looks wounded while Raphael looks unscathed, their reaction is also vastly different.

“So the rumor was true, Mikhail you have killed those children, haven’t you?” Holding her hammer before it, Raphael dashes forward to Mikhail who blocks those mighty swings with a barrier.

“And the last sinner is also which thing easier for us.” Azazel sets his gaze toward me as he approaches slowly. Those soul reaping is dangerously alarm. I dash away to keep a safe distance from him.

“Try stall Azazel as much as possible. I will take Raphael as fast as possible. Don’t be reckless, Matasyn.” Mikhail commands vigorously before casting a series of buffing spells toward me.

Fighting against Azazel isn’t someone that can be balanced out just by our condition. The lower his life against the range of life, the stronger his attack seems to be. And vice versa, the higher his life against the range of death, the swifter his attack becomes.

“To take your love’s life, are you not felt guilty of your action?” Azazel starts to judge my sins in order to regain his old power suffered from Mikhail’s grand attack. [ Judgement of mortality] Quite a restrictive authority only those whose heart shouldered the blame.

“Never, I am faithful to my only. The sins of cheating one’s love can’t be committed by me.” I answer the ringing marking my remark as innocent.

“To have put down many of your children, are you not felt guilty of your action?” Once again, he asked. This is quite idiotic even for someone with less academic knowledge like him, getting desperate should be my upper hand.

“They should be slumbered peacefully instead of being someone’s weapons for impartial designs of my,” I answer the ringing marking my remark as innocent.

I was able to stall Azazel to come closer to the break of the evening, in which Raphael has been diffused of her wrathful self before. Looking through its eyes, I don’t see an ounce of forgiveness coming from the homunculus. Another ally, we must give up just to satisfy Mikhail’s vengeful self.

“If you know they are false, then you should have made your statement earlier. You could have ceased this fight.” Raphael pleads with now her pitful showing, acting all high and mighty to be the first one to attack…I can no longer feel empathy toward her.

“Then you should know the atonement of experiment countless wrathful raptures you put upon innocent because of your arrogance self.” Mikhail holds still the frozen sword that it conjured from [‘spiculum’]

“Repent, Raphael. Those hands should have healed those needed instead of drowning in their blood.” Mikhail cut through her head with one slice, having imbued the purest ice, her wounds won’t hold up anymore and Raphael’s body begins to disappear.

“To have driven the homunculus into inhumanity, are you not felt guilty of your action.” Azazel as he got closed as I was distracted by Raphael’s execution. I guess this is my end.

Cold blood crystallizes as it touches my face. The scarlet snowflake falls before me as I cry “ Why?” what would it gain from this? From sheltering a useless self such as me. Those tears, ah I can’t stop it.

“Even your time is quite short but you’re one of Saudade’s citizens…as your sovereign, I can’t stand to abide by your harming.” Mikhail into me as its blood stained my garment.

“Such a precious soul, Father’s fragment is the purest fragment an angel can ever wish for. I am so blessed.” Azazel licks his scythe and retreated to the far side as I froze in disbelief at what just happened. The deeds were done as Mikhail’s fragile soul was caught as Azazel’s belonging.

There must be something reverse, I can’t let Mikhail die in vain. There must be a way…no there is a way to fix this. Before I was laughing at this method to save Rose as it is meaningless if she would wake up to see me sacrifice myself to save her and just die along it. But now, I have a more justifiable reason to do it.

I call forth the spell that Andromalius taught me to him in the time of need. A summoning circle with his droplet of blood at the center. Andromalius appears as his eyes lay upon the corpse of his sovereign from my arm.

“Oh no, your majesty. Why should a thing happen? Mr. Matasyn you promise…” With the mixture of wrath and sorrow, Andromalius starts to weep.  I just can’t keep on hearing this as I need to focus on the drawing circle.

“And I call you here for me to fulfill it. Bring the homunculus corpse back and I will perform a sacrificial spell for its spell now.” I reply.

“Good, where is the sacrifice, I should bring it back with you” Overjoyed, Andromalius nudged me forward without knowing that I and my children would be the sacrifice.

I stay silent, and drawing on the circle, the catalyst appears with my command. My children start to appear within the hiding spot, the form a circle with our standing as the center.

“Please do not tell me.” Andromalius caught up, Mikhail did say to teach him to the knowledge of advanced magic so he must have known from the formation of my children.

“A ripple a thousand souls and a miracle shall happen. If you don’t want to be one of them, please head back, Andromalius. Remind it to rest more, it looks apathetic when it overworking itself.” I smile bitterly.

“I understand.” Andromalius teleports away holding Mikhail close to his arm. Good, it has found a capable caretake indeed.

“My children, it’s time.” All of them hold their head down those breaths of life started to take them away one by one. Start from the fairy to the most mighty of king cobras. At least only I remain conscious.

[ “I offer to you the ripple of a thousand soul

For fate has cursed me with unfortunates and misery.

Gain me strength O’ the creator of worlds, father of all.

Heed my call and bestow on me a blessing that prevails. ]

[‘miraculum’]

Light engulfs my whole being as my consciousness fades to nothingness.

At least, I have done something right, Rose?
