Piano

Demetrius was too lazy to face people like Finlay. He asked bluntly: "Where are my parents?"

The maidservant, visibly annoyed, glanced at Demetrius.

Finlay looked regretful, "Because of some business, they still haven't arrived, maybe half an hour. In the meantime, would you like to visit the piano room?"

Demetrius was about to say that he would wait in the living room. However, when he saw Finlay's scornful look and his face that wanted to humiliate him, Demetrius changed his mind. He was a sixteen-year-old boy, and although somewhat more mature than his peers, there was no reason for him to resist a challenger repeatedly without daring to take revenge.

Demetrius is not a weak man. He is willing to shed blood to avenge his revenge, let alone when he is confident that he has that ability.

So the three of them went to the piano room on the second floor. As soon as he entered the room, the piano immediately attracted Demetrius's eyes despite the other bright furniture arranged inside the room.

Finlay noticed the look in his eyes, and a scornful smile bloomed on his handsome face, turning it into a dirty and sinister face, "This must be your first time seeing a piano in real life, right? Want to try it out?"

"You play first," Demetrius said indifferently.

Finlay smiled proudly, "What song do you want me to play for you?"

"La Campanella," Demetrius replied without changing his expression.

Finlay immediately frowned and looked at him, annoyed.

"Are you trying to embarrass me?"

"You can't play, can you?"

"It's you, not me." Finlay was annoyed but still wanted to save his face, "I certainly know how to play. However, knowing the name of a difficult and already famous piano piece won't make you any better at the piano, Demetrius."

The maid was also annoyed by Demetrius's complex attitude:

"Your request is a bit too much!"

"Sorry." Demetrius smiled and said, "I know to play. That's why I thought Finlay would."

Finlay sneered, "It's easy to say with your mouth. If you said you could, you should try it, please!"

Finlay was now very annoyed by Demetrius's fierce attitude, and considering living in poverty, Demetrius couldn't know the piano or a complicated piece of music. Finlay wants to teach him a lesson for life.

Demetrius walked over to the piano, sat on a chair, and rechecked the piano before starting to play.

In the eyes of Finlay and the maidservant, he tried to pretend to prolong the time he waited for Kirk Hoffman and Ivanna Gallagher to get home. So they opened their mouths to urge Demetrius, and Finlay even said they would never let him leave this room if he didn't finish the piece.

The moment Demetrius' fingers rested on the keys and began to dance on the keys skillfully, Finlay and the maidservant's faces turned pale.

Although Demetrius is currently only wearing a T-shirt, they have the impression that he is wearing a luxurious suit, performing a piece of music as a professional artist sitting on the stage and performing for the particular audience they must admire.

From the beginning, when he entered the piano room, Demetrius was very confident in his piano ability.

To explain why a child living in a poor town, in a low-income family, had the opportunity to have access to the piano and be able to master it must begin eight years ago when Demetrius' esteemed adoptive father, Jerome Brewer, had just passed away. Demetrius happened to catch the eye of a professional pianist walking around town who had taught him for many years. Because of his natural talent and dedicated teacher, it was not surprising that Demetrius played La Campanella masterfully and could even add his own identity to the piece.

"No way!" Finlay muttered under his breath, his face red with anger. He couldn't accept that there was any field in which he would fall behind a country boy like Demetrius.

Just as he was about to say something to save face, a quiet voice came from outside the piano room door.

"Finlay?" It was the voice of Kirk Hoffman. He assumed that the person playing was Finlay, so when he entered the room, his expression immediately changed when he saw that the person sitting on the chair was Demetrius.

Demetrius remained focused on the piece until the end.

Despite his surprise, Kirk Hoffman remained calm, asking: "Is that you, Demetrius? You play very well."

The woman beside Kirk Hoffman was none other than Ivanna Gallagher, her expression not of joy at seeing her son after being separated for many years but reticence.

Demetrius glanced at the two, calmly saying, "Dad, mom."

Ivanna Gallagher felt a headache.

Her originally intended for Demetrius to move out to her own house, as she believed that having him relocate from a low-income area to her home would only bring bad luck. However, she felt compelled to let Demetrius reside with them out of fear of being slandered and uncertainty about Kirk Hoffman's approval.

Kirk Hoffman shared the same concerns as Ivanna Gallagher.

To him, there was no genuine affection between him and Demetrius. He saw the money spent on raising him as a waste, and there was even a possibility of him causing significant problems. Additionally, Kirk had invested many years in training Finlay to become his heir, and he was unsure if Demetrius would later create problems for Finlay.

However, he had no choice. Word had gotten out that the Hoffman had located their son, and if he didn't bring Demetrius back home, it would tarnish the dignity of their family.

Demetrius pretended not to notice the frowning faces of the people in the room. He asked:

"Where is my room?"

Mrs Matthews pointed to a small storage room nearby. "Your room isn't ready yet, so stay in that room for now."

This villa consists of three floors. The first floor has a maid's bedroom and a storage room, and the second floor has two bedrooms, one of which is Finlay's bedroom. However, the other room has been changed to a piano room, and the third floor has Kirk Hoffman and Ivanna Gallagher's bedroom and a gym.

Everyone thinks this is very reasonable. There is nothing wrong with it. Demetrius had lived in a poor house, and now it was too ordinary for him to sleep in the storage room.

Demetrius thanked Mrs Matthews and then opened the door to the room. There was only one bed and a window, which was much better than at Aunt Zoe's house. Demetrius turned his head to Kirk Hoffman and Ivanna Gallagher: "Good night, Mom and Dad."

Finally, he closed the door of the room.
