Selene and Nyx Knows

"Uuh… All right. Well then, thank you for your help. Thanks to you, I've done something else I wanted to do. I was already planning to go to the Seraphim Academy in Chaos City, and now that's settled." Desmond said, and after scratching his silky hair, he uttered these words:

“All my life, I have worshipped Nyx and, of course, Selene, and I will continue to do so. Still, if you have any opportunity to deliver a message to them, please thank them on my behalf. My life has already been turned upside down... in a good way, of course. I will never forget this, never.”

When he uttered these words, no answer flashed through his mind; instead, a deep silence fell over the place like a shadow.

Desmond thought he had said something wrong and, frankly, stood there for a few seconds. However, this thought would be dispelled by the following words, which would put his mind at ease.

[They already know.]

With these words, the system's voice would disappear, not to be heard for a long time.

Desmond stood up and stretched widely; he was truly exhausted after everything that had happened. He didn't want to wander around at this hour of the night, at least not in such a filthy state.

Each of his clothes was soaked in a mixture of blood and that strange black liquid, and he had started to smell incredibly bad.

The black liquids coming out of his body were the result of the impurities in his veins, nervous system, muscles, skin, and every organ, including his heart, being expelled.

Desmond had therefore gone back into the bathroom and spent a full hour scrubbing himself clean from head to toe.

He was aware of the changes in his body. After finishing in the shower, he stood in front of the mirror and observed how much his body had changed.

Although he loved using swords and had trained in endurance since childhood, his body had never developed like this before.

His muscles were more defined, his skin more radiant, his complexion stronger, his eyes more magnificent, and every hair on his body, including his hair, had become more beautiful.

Desmond changed his clothes as soon as he left the bathroom. He then put on another robe and, once he was sure he was hidden enough that no one could see him, opened his room door and called out to one of the three hunters standing in front of it:

“Call someone to clean my room and make sure they've prepared food for me to eat in the lobby.”

The hunter quickly left the area upon receiving this order, and Desmond began walking slowly down the corridor on the top floor of the inn.

The two hunters guarding him glanced inside the room before starting to follow him. When they looked at the bed at the far end of the room, their stomachs truly turned. The sight was awful. Not only was the bed bright red, but so was the floor of the room.

It was as if someone had been tortured here, and this torture had continued for perhaps ten or twenty days.

“What kind of training could have done this?” one of the hunters wondered, and they quickly followed Desmond.

And so the day ended. Desmond quickly ate his meal in the lobby, then went to his cleaned room and lay down.

The next two days were not much different. Desmond briefly attempted a few training exercises and wanted to see if he could create his first magic circle.

Of course, he failed. For this, he needed a quiet, peaceful place where he would truly not be disturbed, like the university, the largest academy in existence.

Desmond couldn't use magic, nor could he do anything related to cultivation. He now had an opportunity to develop in these two areas, as he could clearly sense both powers.

Still, he couldn't enter the academy like this.

Of course, this didn't mean he knew nothing. Desmond was INCREDIBLY talented in alchemy; his aunt would call him a genius that no one can reach in this field. His only fault was being born in the Ariadne Empire and not the Holy Empire.

A field not viewed very favourably in the world's eyes. In fact, it would be accurate to say he was more than just talented. This was certainly not seen as a talent in his family, but it was one of the reasons he wanted to go to the Holy Empire.

The Holy Empire was an empire where sacred power was at its peak, and even the smallest wound was healed by sacred power, another branch of magic.

However, sacred power could not heal everything.

In such cases, alchemy came into play. The emperor himself was an alchemist. It was well known that he was not a particularly skilled one, but it was also known that he relied on his own abilities when sacred power proved ineffective.

While other empires and kingdoms chose to protect themselves with raw power, the Holy Empire chose to act passively.

There was no need for them to attack anyway. No one was foolish enough to attack an empire that Nyx herself constantly blessed. Not that many could even do it if they tried.

This meant that Desmond needed to reach the academy as soon as possible and enrol there under the subject of alchemy.

After three days, the journey could continue.

Especially towards the innkeeper, Desmond had provided financial support to many people over the last three days. He was a good person. Even though he had been abandoned by his family, his heart had not yet grown cold.

Of course, this also meant that many people came to see him off when he left the town.

The members of the hunting party, mounted on dozens of horses, set off under George's leadership, alongside the horse-drawn carriage in which Desmond was travelling.

They still had a journey of nearly thirty-five days ahead of them.

This journey would be over in the blink of an eye.

When they reached the eastern border, Desmond finally removed his cloak, standing at the front of the group of hunters. From this point on, that is, from the moment he showed his face to cross the border, his family would know exactly where he was.
