The magma broadsword hit Leo like a falling meteor.

The sheer force of the blow shattered the cavern floor beneath him, sending a plume of sparks and pulverized rock twenty feet into the air. The intense, radiant heat scorched off what remained of his shirt, crisping the skin across his arms and torso instantly.

Leo didn't try to block the blade cleanly. He crossed his iron-bound forearms above his head, taking the full, crushing momentum straight onto his kinetic gauntlets.

BOOM!

The ground gave way, dropping Leo into a knee-deep crater of fractured basalt. The agonizing wave of heat and blunt force smashed through his defenses, cracking three of his ribs and sending a spray of blood from his mouth onto the glowing blade.

The pain was a blinding, suffocating nightmare, but the System’s icy counter-pulse roared through his heart like a localized blizzard. The fractured ribs snapped back into place with a sickening pop, the charred skin on his forearms peeled away to reveal denser, tougher tissue underneath, and his muscles swelled with raw, unadulterated power.

The Magma Core Golem leaned its vast weight into the sword, its burning core pulsing with confused irritation as the tiny human beneath its blade refused to be flattened into paste.

"Is that all your weight?" Leo gritted out through crimson-stained teeth.

He planted his boots into the molten slag at the bottom of the crater, locked his knees, and pushed.

With a roaring grunt of effort, Leo forced the titanic basalt broadsword upward, throwing the giant construct off balance. The Golem stumbled back half a step, its colossal feet rattling the cavern floor.

Leo didn't hesitate. Before the giant could recover, he sprinted straight up the length of the Golem's planted left leg. His iron boots dug into the cracks between the monster's basalt armor plate, using the monster's own body as a staircase.

The Golem roared in fury, raising its free hand—a massive fist made of solid, glowing rock—and slammed it down toward its own thigh to crush Leo like a fly.

Leo saw the blow coming and intentionally slowed his pace, opening his shoulders to receive the hit.

THWACK.

The massive rock fist clipped Leo's left side, sending him spinning through the air. The impact ripped open his side, the agonizing crunch of bone ringing in his ears.

Mid-air, Leo flipped, his eyes burning with a dark, euphoric intensity. The obsidian-bladed gauntlets on both of his hands flared into a blinding, white-hot glow, humming so violently the surrounding air shuddered.

He landed hard on the Golem’s broad, rocky shoulder, embedding his left boot into a crevice in its neck to anchor himself.

Right in front of his face was the Golem’s core: a swirling, brilliant orb of pure white magma embedded deep within its chest, shielded behind thick layers of enchanted basalt.

"Let's see your fifty percent damage reduction handle this!" Leo screamed.

He drew back both fists. He didn't just target the rock armor; he targeted the pulsing core behind it.

[Release Dual Kinetic Overdrive!]

Leo drove both kinetic gauntlets directly into the center of the Golem's chest.

EXPLOSION!

The accumulated kinetic energy of two full-power boss hits detonated simultaneously. A blinding shockwave of compressed physical force tore through the Golem's chest cavity. The thick basalt armor shattered into millions of flying fragments, and the shockwave blasted clean through the back of the monster's torso, punching a three-foot hole straight through its stone structure.

The white-hot core at the center of the construct fractured, letting out a deafening, shrill whine before detonating in a shower of harmless golden embers.

The colossal Golem froze. The orange veins of magma coursing through its body went dim, turning into cold, dark ash. The entire fifteen-foot structure collapsed under its own weight, tumbling backward into the lava lake with a massive splash of liquid rock.

Leo leapt clear of the falling corpse, landing lightly on his feet on the far side of the cavern floor.

At the back of the molten chamber, the wall of solid rock groaned and parted, revealing an ascending stone staircase illuminated by a clean, cool white light—a path leading up to the hidden upper exit of the dungeon, bypassing the locked main portal entirely.

Leo looked down at his gauntlets. The obsidian blades were coated in soot and blood, but beneath the grime, they glowed with a sharper, deadlier luster. The burning pain in his body was already fading into a dull, throb of raw strength.

He looked up toward the ascending stairs leading back to the surface world.

"Halfway there, Marcus," Leo whispered, his voice cold and steady. "Get your speech ready. You're going to need it."

  • Chapter 35: The Fall of the Valerius Syndicate

The silence hanging over the Grand Assembly Plaza was absolute, heavy enough to drown out the distant, frantic sirens wailing across the lower districts. The air smelled of burnt ozone, pulverized white marble, and the metallic tang of crushed void-crystals. High above, the shattered dome of the central terrace frame groaned under the structural displacement caused by Leo’s single step, sending small showers of white dust fluttering down like ash.Duke Valerius clung to the carved stone balustrade, his breath coming in ragged, shallow hitches. His grey eyes, usually calculating and cold, darted wildly across the courtyard. He looked at the paladins of the High Vanguard—men he had spent millions of gold coins arming with the finest dwarven steel and enchanted barrier shields. They stood frozen, their shields locked in a defensive tortoise wall, but their knees were visibly trembling beneath their heavy plate armor. They were not looking at Valerius for orders. Their eyes were fixed

  • Chapter 34: The Sector 7 Ultimatum

The trembling of the Grand Assembly Plaza did not stop. It settled into a low, terrifying harmonic frequency that hummed through the soles of every noble, paladin, and magistrate present.Duke Valerius gripped the balcony railing, his knuckles turning chalk-white. "Insolence!" he barked, his voice straining to cover the pitch of panic rising in his chest. "You survive a suicide breach through pure, unvetted dark anomaly, and you return to threaten the High Council? Guards! Detain Class Zero immediately under the Citadel Sedition Act!"Not a single paladin moved. The heavy-armored vanguard line stood frozen, their shields locked, their eyes darting nervously between their captain and the bare-chested figure in the crater. They were veterans of the Upper Breaches, but the instinct ingrained deep in their bones shouted a single, universal warning: To step toward that man is to step into a grinding wheel."Sedition?" Leo muttered, taking another slow, heavy step forward.BOOM.The

  • Chapter 33: The Citadel Trembles

The sky above the Sky Citadel was no longer clear. The colossal pillar of pitch-black void energy that had punched straight up through ten floors of the Abyss had torn a two-hundred-foot hole clean through the center of the Grand Assembly Plaza. Sunlight streamed through the smoking shaft, illuminating a swirling cloud of pulverized quartz, calcified dust, and purified mana mist that rained down over the floating island like silver snow.Emergency sirens blared across all four districts.Paladins of the High Vanguard lined the perimeter of the smoking crater, their heavy shields locked, their enchanted spears raised in terrified anticipation. High above on the central terrace, the members of the High Council stood in frantic clusters, their scrying slates flashing red with catastrophic energy readings."The breach core..." a Council Magistrate stammered, his hands shaking as he stared at his slate. "The core of Floor 10... it didn't just stabilize. The energy signature of the Wor

The opening to Floor 9 did not lead to a cavern of cold basalt or quartz.
