Talon and the boy exchanged conversations. This was the first time in Talon's life that he had talked to someone for such a long time. They both felt like they could understand each other very well.

"My name is Talon… so what's your name, if I may ask?" Talon asked, waiting for a reply from the boy.

"I don't really have a name. I just go by the name people around call me… Small." Small said his name because whenever he told people his name, Small, they would always have a laughing reaction.

"Small… that's a cool name..It's different from the usual names I've come across. I like it." Talon smiled warmly at Small.

Small was quite surprised not to see Talon laugh at his name and he didn't see any ill intent in Talon's words.

"I've never had someone to care for me, but the only thing I was fortunate to have was this medallion," Talon said as he stared at the medallion he had worn since childhood.

"It was left by my mom. She was killed by demons, and I vow to eradicate the entire existence of demons. It has always been my lucky charm." Tears streamed down Talon's cheek as he gazed at the medallion.

"I'm sorry about your mom. But unlike you, who have something left behind by your parents, I have nothing. I just hope someday we can become great and rise to the peak," Small said. Immediately after uttering those words, a man in a lab coat placed his hands on the handprint, and the glass opened. The man and his colleague entered Talon's cell.

"Hey, leave us alone! We didn't do anything to you guys," Talon protested, aware that they were about to be tested.

"Shut up, kid! You're supposed to be thanking us for making you part of our grand scheme," the man said, approaching Talon and sedating him on the neck. They did the same to Small and lifted both of them onto their shoulders before leaving the cell.

Talon and Small found themselves in a hall with a large black metallic tortoise shell at the end. Above the shell, there was a big screen. Some children, around 12 years old, approached the shell and punched it. The screen displayed a reading:

[★Divine Sentinel: None★]

[★Virtues: None★]

[★Arcane Energy: xxxxxxxxx20★]

[★Potential: Low★]

They stood still with their hands in cuffs, observing the readings on the screen. Talon whispered to Small, "Is this the test?"

"Yes, it is. We will be tested for our energy points. Around 90% of the people here haven't been Awakened, so they will likely have no or very few Arcane Energy points because they haven't accumulated any energy yet. If our energy points read above a hundred, then we will move on to the training zone," explained Small.

"But it's almost impossible for those who haven't entered the Awakening path to accumulate a hundred points of Arcane Energy!" Talon said, surprised by the test requirements.

Each child who was ten years old was likely to have zero Arcane Energy. Arcane Energy was accumulated by consuming various Mutated fruits, which are only found in big cities and are expensive. So low-borns could only afford very few. However, that doesn't mean all low-borns were unlucky. Some were able to accumulate a thousand points of Arcane Energy to enter the F-Class Rank stage. Those who achieved that without consuming any mutated fruits were classified as rare geniuses.

"That's exactly what they want. They want the best of the best. They know that very few will meet the requirements, but they are looking for rare geniuses for their experiments," Small said, knowing that their fate would be in God's hands.

"And if we don't reach the 100-point threshold, they will kill us," Small added, sending shivers down Talon's spine.

Immediately, the boy with 20 points was vaporized by a large flame that shot out of an open metallic rod on the wall of the upper chamber. Talon and Small held their breath as they watched the brutal scene unfold before them. The boy turned to ashes not too far from where they stood.

The hall was approximately 200 feet long, so the distance from the fire was quite far from where they were. Talon and Small were next in line. A guard at their corner unlocked their cuffs.

"Move forward and take the test," he said, pushing them toward the metallic shell.

Small finally reached the metallic shell. Although the shell was enormous, his height allowed him to reach it. Small closed his eyes, whispered some words, then opened his eyes and extended his hands, striking the shell.

Talon felt a little afraid. He didn't want his newly made friend to die before him. They both looked at the big screen, their hearts pounding as they awaited the outcome of the test.

Talon and Small leaped for joy. Talon was happy that Small would be moving on, and Small was relieved that he wouldn't die that day.

Small looked back at Talon and shouted, "Don't be afraid, you can do it."

Talon was very happy for his friend but also felt anxious about his own test. Finally, Talon reached the metallic shell and touched his medallion.

"God help me…" he whispered before punching the metallic shell and anxiously watching the screen for his reading.

Talon stared at the figure in front of him. His body still felt unstable, like pieces of him were adjusting to being real again. The Echo stood calmly, its robe shifting between light and shadow, but its presence wasn’t overwhelming, it simply existed, like a constant fact. Talon’s voice was low. “You said there’s a way to bring everyone back. Tell me.” The Echo nodded once. “There is. But you can’t do it the way you are now. Your seal is unlocked, yes, but it’s incomplete. You have one half. Maelion holds the other.” Talon clenched his fists. He already suspected that; the moment Maelion snapped, he felt something tear inside his chest. “So what do I do?” The Echo lifted its hand, and five symbols appeared in the air simple shapes, glowing faintly. “These are requirements. Without all of them, reversing the Fracture is impossible.” Talon stepped closer, focus sharp. “Explain each one.” "Recover the Temporal Keystone" The first symbol was a circle with a vertical line through it
