Lucas stared at the mission displayed before him.

[Mission: Spend $1,000,000 from your original bank account within 24 hours.]

[Time Remaining: 23 hours, 41 minutes.]

He had already decided what he wanted to do first. After everything he had endured, he deserved to enjoy some comfort for once. If he had the money, why should he continue lying in an ordinary hospital room?

“System, what is the highest accommodation level this hospital offers?”

[The hospital's highest accommodation category is the Presidential Private Ward. It provides a luxury patient suite, dedicated medical personnel, premium dining arrangements, and additional personal services. The cost for a seven-day stay is $700,000, payable in advance.]

Lucas's eyebrows rose. Seven hundred thousand dollars for a week? The price was outrageous, but he had no intention of spending the next several days regretting that he hadn't treated himself better.

“Arrange the upgrade for me.”

[The system cannot independently make personal accommodation requests on your behalf. You may contact the hospital administration to confirm availability and complete the arrangements.]

Lucas called for assistance. A staff member arrived shortly afterward, greeting him with a polite smile.

“Good afternoon, Mr. Bennett. How may I help you?”

“I'd like to upgrade to the Presidential Private Ward for the next seven days. I'll pay the full amount upfront.”

The staff member looked slightly surprised but maintained her professional composure. “Certainly, sir. I'll confirm whether a suite is available. The advance payment is substantial, so I'll prepare the invoice for you to review.”

“Thank you. Please do.”

She returned with the invoice after confirming the availability. Lucas checked the amount and authorized the payment without hesitation.

$700,000. Paid in full.

When the payment confirmation appeared, the staff member stared at the screen for a moment before looking back at him. Her surprise was unmistakable, although she quickly recovered.

“Your payment has been confirmed, Mr. Bennett. Your suite is ready, and we'll arrange your transfer immediately.”

The difference in their attention was noticeable. More staff members arrived to assist him, ensuring that his belongings and medical records were transferred without delay.

Lucas smiled to himself. He hadn't needed to explain his circumstances or convince anyone of his financial position. He had simply paid for the service he wanted.

The Presidential Private Ward was everything he had hoped for and more. The spacious suite had a large adjustable bed covered in premium linens, soft lighting, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city. A comfortable sofa and armchairs occupied a separate sitting area, while a large television, polished furniture, and carefully arranged decorations gave the room the atmosphere of a luxury hotel.

The private bathroom featured marble surfaces, modern fixtures, a walk-in shower, and premium toiletries. There was also a small dining area, a refrigerator for refreshments approved by his medical team, and discreetly arranged medical equipment that allowed the room to remain comfortable without compromising his care.

Even the bed felt different. As Lucas settled against the pillows, the tension in his shoulders gradually eased.

A nurse approached him with a warm smile. “Mr. Bennett, your medical team will continue monitoring your recovery. If you need anything, please press the call button beside your bed, and someone will come to assist you.”

“Anything I need?”

“Within the services we provide, sir. We'll be happy to help.”

“Excellent. Thank you.”

After the nurse left, Lucas looked around his new room, unable to suppress his satisfaction. For once, he could enjoy something without worrying about the cost or wondering whether someone would use it to humiliate him later.

He had spent enough time enduring discomfort and swallowing insults. This small luxury felt like a reward for surviving all of it.

He glanced at the system interface again.

[Mission Expenditure: $700,000.]

[Remaining Amount: $300,000.]

[Time Remaining: 22 hours, 56 minutes.]

He leaned back against the soft pillows, looking around his luxurious suite with a satisfied smile. For the first time in a long while, he felt genuinely comfortable, and the thought that he could afford even better things brought a fresh spark of excitement.

Three hundred thousand dollars remained. He could spend it on something useful, of course, but why should he rush into making another decision when he had barely begun enjoying his new life?

Lucas looked at the television, then at the comfortable sofa near the window. His gaze eventually settled on the call button beside his bed.

A thought occurred to him.

If the hospital room alone could offer this level of luxury, what else could he arrange for himself?

[Host, I trust you have a plan for the remaining funds. The mission deadline continues to decrease, regardless of how comfortable you become.]

Lucas chuckled.

"Relax. I've already spent seven hundred thousand dollars on a comfortable place to recover, and I still have three hundred thousand left. I'm sure I can find a few more ways to make my life enjoyable."

He settled deeper into the pillows, a mischievous smile spreading across his face.

For years, he had worried about pleasing others, enduring humiliation, and making do with whatever little he had. Now that he finally had the means, he intended to put himself first.

And he had a feeling that three hundred thousand dollars could buy him considerably more comfort than he had ever imagined.

The following morning, Lucas was finishing breakfast when a gentle knock sounded at his hospital room door.“Come in.”A neatly dressed man entered, carrying a slim folder. He appeared to be in his early thirties, with polished shoes, a composed expression, and a professional bearing.“Good morning, Mr. Bennett. My name is Adrian Cole. I've been assigned as your personal caretaker during your remaining stay at the hospital. I'll be available whenever you need assistance, while ensuring that you have sufficient privacy.”Lucas studied him briefly before nodding.“Good morning, Adrian. I hope you understand that I don't need someone following me around all day.”“Of course, sir. My responsibility is to make your stay more comfortable, not to make you feel crowded. I'll attend to your requests and remain available when needed. Otherwise, I'll give you space.”“Good. I think we'll get along.”Adrian confirmed Lucas's preferences, explained how to contact him, and asked whether he needed a

Lucas leaned back against the pillows, scrolling through his old phone. A crack ran across one corner of the screen, and the battery seemed determined to die at the worst possible moment. He stared at it for a while before shaking his head.“If I'm going to start a new life, I might as well start properly. This phone has suffered enough, and so have I.”The system screen appeared before him.[Host, your current mission expenditure stands at $731,000. You have $269,000 remaining to reach the required expenditure of $1,000,000. The mission deadline remains active.]Lucas nodded, then remembered something he had been meaning to ask.“System, what happens if I spend more than the required amount? Will the mission be cancelled?”[No, Host. You are required to spend at least $1,000,000 from your designated bank account before the deadline. Exceeding that amount will not invalidate the mission. Once the qualifying expenditure reaches the required threshold, the mission conditions will be sat

I'm Clara, the private ward concierge assigned to assist you with your non-medical requests. How may I help you?”“I'm hungry,” Lucas admitted. “Terribly hungry, actually. I want a proper meal, something nutritious, delicious, and filling. Could you recommend a few dishes?”“Certainly, sir.
