Dante pulled his mobile phone from his pocket. The bright screen flashed a severe storm warning in thick red letters. He looked at the screaming wind outside the glass windows.
He completely ignored the toxic drama happening right behind him and sprinted straight into the cockpit. He grabbed the heavy steering wheel, desperately trying to turn the massive yacht back toward the safe harbor.
The violent storm hit the ocean like a massive sledgehammer. The entire vessel tilted dangerously, groaning under the immense pressure of the crushing waves. It felt like they were on the verge of capsizing completely. Dante put his own life on the line, using all his physical strength to control the spinning wheel.
He glanced back through the open doorway. Inside the chaotic, rocking cabin, Ginevra sat on the luxury sofa. She held the hands of luca tightly against her chest, rubbing his knuckles to comfort his fake panic.
Dante let out a bitter, hollow laugh in his mind. A romantic proposal? What an absolute joke. If they somehow made it back to the shore alive, the very first thing he would do was hand her divorce papers.
"Are you trying to kill us?" Ginevra glared at Dante with pure hatred over the roaring wind. "Steer the boat properly! You are shaking the entire cabin on purpose just to terrify luca!"
"President Ginevra, I am so scared!" luca buried his face into her shoulder, trembling violently. "My chest hurts so much! I think my heart condition is acting up because of this awful turbulence!"
"Do not worry, luca." Ginevra stroked his hair gently. She shot another venomous look at the cockpit. "Dante is just throwing another pathetic temper tantrum! He is intentionally driving into the rough waves to punish us because he is insanely jealous of our friendship!"
"I cannot breathe!" luca clutched his shirt, squeezing out fake tears. "Please make him stop!"
Suddenly, a massive rogue wave slammed directly into the side of the yacht.
The violent impact threw Dante completely off balance. His boots slipped on the wet floorboards. His head crashed heavily against the sharp metal railing of the control panel. Warm blood poured down his forehead, blinding his left eye instantly.
"Ginevra!" Dante gripped the edge of the console, his vision spinning wildly. "Help me hold the wheel! I am losing control!"
Ginevra did not even look his way. Her eyes were completely glued to the floor. luca had tumbled off the sofa during the crash and was now clutching his ankle, wailing at the top of his lungs.
"My ankle!" luca squeezed a few more tears from his eyes. "I think it is completely shattered! The pain is unbearable!"
"Oh my god, luca!" Ginevra dropped to her knees, frantically examining his leg. "Hold on, I will get you out of here right now!"
"Ginevra, I am bleeding!" Dante wiped the thick blood from his eyes. "The boat is going to flip over! I need your hands on this wheel!"
"Shut your mouth!" Ginevra snapped her head up, her beautiful face twisted in utter disgust. "Can you stop seeking attention for five seconds? luca just severely sprained his ankle, and all you care about is a tiny scratch on your thick skull! You are so incredibly selfish!"
"I just hit my head on solid metal!" Dante pointed at his bleeding forehead. "Help me steer!"
"Stop being so dramatically pathetic!" Ginevra scoffed loudly, wrapping her arms around the waist of her assistant. "You are a grown man throwing a fit over a little bump! luca is fragile and in agonizing pain! Look at your thick skull, you probably did not even feel a thing! I am taking him to the lower deck right now! Do not you dare follow us!"
"Please, President Ginevra," luca whispered weakly, leaning his entire body weight against her. "Do not leave him behind. I can endure the pain. Dante needs you more."
"Absolutely not!" Ginevra held him tighter, her voice dripping with extreme prejudice. "He is just faking an injury to play the victim! I see right through his disgusting manipulation tactics!"
Completely ignoring her heavily bleeding husband, Ginevra dragged luca away. They stumbled down the stairs toward the lower deck.
Dante fought the spinning wheel alone, his blood dripping onto the dials. A few minutes later, Ginevra successfully lowered a bright orange lifeboat into the violent, churning water.
She turned back to face the upper deck.
"Listen to me very carefully!" Ginevra pointed a commanding finger at Dante. "I checked the emergency supplies earlier! There are exactly two lifeboats on this yacht! Each boat can only hold two people!"
Dante stared at her through the pouring rain, his hands cramping on the wheel.
"But the other lifeboat is completely jammed in the gears!" Ginevra waved her hands in the air, showing absolutely zero remorse. "It cannot be lowered into the water! You have a very strong physique and intense military training! You can easily survive this storm on the main ship! You must yield this working lifeboat to luca!"
"You are leaving me on a sinking boat?" Dante stared at her blankly.
"luca has a severe heart condition!" Ginevra stepped closer, her eyes flashing with cruel determination. "He will literally die if he stays here in this terrifying weather! You are perfectly healthy and strong! You have survived worse in those silly military camps you talk about! The moment we reach the shore safely, I promise I will send a professional rescue team back for you! Stop acting like a selfish coward and accept the situation for once in your miserable life!"
Right then, a sudden realization hit her face. Ginevra remembered that Dante had promised her a grand proposal ceremony today. She marched right back up the stairs, ignoring the blood covering his face.
Without a single shred of hesitation, she shoved her hand violently into the inner pocket of his jacket. She pulled out the expensive velvet ring box he had bought.
"What are you doing?" Dante narrowed his bleeding eyes.
"I am keeping this diamond ring for now." Ginevra flipped the box open, admiring the expensive jewelry before shoving it into her own waterproof pocket. She crossed her arms. "Just in case the rescue team gets overly greedy when they find your unconscious body later. I will keep it perfectly safe with me. Knowing you, you would probably drop it in the ocean because you are so incredibly clumsy."
Dante gave her an icy, deadened stare. He did not utter a single syllable. He just looked at the woman he had loved for years, finally seeing the real monster hiding beneath her beautiful skin.
Ginevra felt a sudden flicker of intense annoyance at his blank expression.
"Fine!" Ginevra threw her hands in the air in pure exasperation. "I completely forgot how petty you are! I did not expect you to be so disgustingly materialistic and obsessed with worldly possessions at a life or death moment like this! I will give this back to you, alright?!"
With a look of sheer, unadulterated disappointment, she reached for her own left hand. She ripped a plain, unadorned metal band right off her own ring finger. It was the wedding ring Dante had given her exactly one year ago.
She had absolutely no idea that this seemingly worthless, ugly ring was actually an ancient, priceless heirloom passed down through the mysterious, wealthy family line of Dante.
"Take your garbage back!" Ginevra hurled the old ring directly onto the flooded wooden deck. "I never liked this cheap trash anyway!"
She spun around and scrambled down the ladder, jumping into the small lifeboat where luca was waiting with a hidden, victorious smirk on his face.
Dante stood alone in the dark cockpit, blood streaming down his pale face. He watched the small orange boat detach from the yacht. He watched the two figures disappear slowly into the dark, violent stormy sea.
The last remaining trace of warmth inside his chest completely died out. He was completely, utterly done with her forever.

CHAPTER 95
By the eighteenth morning, the garage smelled different. Not the usual stale cold and frozen metal. Something heavier. Something that settled in the back of the throat and refused to leave."They killed everyone." A woman from Building 2 stood near the garage ramp with a flashlight shaking in her hand, talking to three men who looked like they had not slept in days. "My cousin lived on the fourth floor of Building 3. She's gone. Her husband is gone. Their door was smashed off the hinges. There's blood on the hallway walls up to the fifth floor.""How many?" One of the men rubbed his face with both hands."I don't know. Twenty? Thirty? The ones who made it out of their apartments ran down here to the garage." She pointed her flashlight toward the far wall where a row of concrete pillars disappeared into the darkness. "They froze to death before morning. I counted six bodies curled up against the pillars. Still had their shoes on. Still had the look on their faces."Word spread through
CHAPTER 94
"Do not create problems with Vittorio Romano, Enzo." Massimo's deep voice carried warning. "That family is not someone we provoke carelessly.""He humiliated me!" Enzo slammed his fist against the leather seat. "Your own son! In front of three hundred people! Are you going to let some nameless beggar disrespect the Caradonna name and do nothing about it?"The line went silent for ten seconds. Then Massimo sighed."I will apply pressure. Quietly. But if this comes back on us, Enzo, you will answer for it personally."By the next morning, the damage had begun. A businessman who had promised Dante information about the Black Veil cancelled their meeting after his company accounts were frozen overnight. Another contact lost a major contract without explanation. A smaller company inside Vittorio's network received a surprise investigation from a regulatory agency that had never shown interest
CHAPTER 93
"Alessia, please tell me this is not what I think it is." Enzo's voice dripped with contempt so thick it could have been scooped with a spoon. "You actually brought a street sweeper to a billionaire's gathering? Where did you find him? Sleeping behind a dumpster? Begging for coins at a traffic light?""Walk away, Enzo." Alessia's voice turned to ice."I am serious." Enzo jabbed his finger toward Dante without taking his eyes off Alessia. "Look at this creature. No watch. No tie. No cufflinks. He is dressed like a janitor who wandered through the wrong door. The only reason anyone in this room even knows his name is because your father feels guilty about the alley incident. Remove Vittorio's charity, and this leech has absolutely nothing. He is a parasite feeding on your family's sympathy."Dante looked at Enzo the way a man looks at a fly buzzing near his plate. Mild irritation and absolutely nothing else."Nothing to say?" Enzo stepped closer, his confidence swelling. "Of course not.
CHAPTER 92
The charity gathering occupied the entire grand floor of the Palazzo Reale, a building so old its marble walls had witnessed three centuries of wealth changing hands. Crystal chandeliers threw soft golden light across hundreds of guests dressed in suits and gowns worth more than most apartments.Dante arrived through a side entrance and positioned himself near a stone pillar away from the main crowd. He had no interest in socializing. His mind was still burning with his father's warning, the words repeating inside his skull like a song he could not turn off.But his presence did not go unnoticed."Is that the man Vittorio introduced at the Palazzo banquet?" A woman in emerald jewelry leaned toward her husband, her eyes locked on Dante across the room."The same one who made Matteo Rinaldi eat dessert off his own suit." Her husband nodded slowly, his expression carrying cautious respect. "I heard Enzo Carducci personally requested a second meeting with him."Alessia found Dante within

The next document explained everything."Father destroyed the records." Dante turned page after page, each one describing frantic, desperate actions taken in rapid succession. "He burned the genealogy files. He transferred the businesses. He changed our identities. He moved us three times in six months. He cut contact with every single person connected to the sanctuary. He did all of this because someone was coming for me."Dante set the papers down and pressed both palms flat against the stone surface. His arms trembled. Not from exhaustion. From the sheer, crushing weight of understanding that his entire childhood, every ordinary moment, every mundane memory of a simple life in a modest house with a father who worked regular jobs, had been a carefully constructed fortress designed to keep invisible monsters from finding him."You gave up everything." Dante's voice cracked for the first time since the night he had drowned. "Your name. Your wealth. Your connections. Your entire identi
CHAPTER 90
The underground archive was cold and silent. Dante had not moved from the stone surface where his father's documents lay spread before him since the previous night. The golden ring sat warm on his finger, its steady pulse the only companion he had in the darkness beneath the old bookstore. He picked up the warning page and read it again. Fifth time. Sixth time. Seventh."Never allow my son to awaken Mars.""There has to be another meaning." Dante turned the page over, searching for hidden text, coded messages, anything that might soften the brutal clarity of those seven words. "You were careful with language, Father. You never wrote anything you did not mean. So tell me what you actually meant, because right now all I am hearing is that my own father tried to keep me away from the one thing that saved my life."The archive offered no answer. The ancient walls hummed with faint energy, indifferent to his frustration.Dante set the page down and pulled the next stack of records toward h
