Marcus frowned, but he stayed calm and unfazed.

The entire room wanted a reaction from him, fear, shame, anger, but he didn’t give them anything. His stillness made some of them even more annoyed.

Just then, the entire lobby shifted.

A sleek black car pulled up outside, long polished, the kind only the elite rode in.

Two bodyguards stepped out first, tall and broad, scanning the area like a presidential escort.

And then she walked in.

A lady so stunning the room froze mid-breath. Her skin was milk neat and her shape was perfect and something to die for.

The men already having all the wildest imaginations in their heads.

She wasn’t just pretty, she carried herself like someone born above the clouds. Slim dress, sharp heels, cold expression, beauty that hit like a slap.

Heads whipped toward her and mouths continued to drop.

She was ten times more beautiful than anything they had ever seen live.

Even the manager gasped.

“Q-Queen?” he stuttered under his breath.

Whispers spread like wildfire.

There was only one person that bared the title Queen in the whole of the city and that was...

“That’s…” “No way…” “That’s Cent Corporation’s secretary!”

Cent Corporation, one of the top three powerhouses in the entire city. Companies bowed to them. Politicians begged them. Even billionaires watched their tone around them.

Jane’s face twisted instantly.

Her beauty, the thing she used to belittle other girls, was suddenly worthless in the presence of this woman. Jealousy boiled in her chest, sharp and ugly.

Fred reacted even worse.

The moment he recognized the woman, he snatched his arm away from Jane like she was diseased and rushed forward, fixing his shirt, forcing a smile.

He didn't want anything that was going to spoil his big moment and his charm, it wasn't everyday that anyone got to see someone like Queen.

“Good morning, miss,” he said, voice dripping fake elegance.

She didn’t even look at him.

Not a glance, not even a blink or even a second.

Fred stopped mid-step, humiliation slapping him in the face so hard he actually froze in place. The crowd noticed and snickered.

Queen, calm, serious, walked straight to the hotel manager.

Her voice was gentle, but carried sharp authority. “How is our guest being treated? And why are there still people in the restaurant? I gave strict orders. It was booked for the morning.”

The manager bowed so low he almost broke his back.

“I-I apologize, ma’am. Your message arrived right before the rush hour. We were just about to clear everyone out. Your mam” he pointed proudly at Fred “—will be moved inside as well. He is the VIP who booked the hall.”

Queen’s expression shifted instantly.

Her brows lowered, and her lips tightened.

Something cold flickered in her eyes, mixed with fear.

“That man?” she asked, staring at Fred like he was a joke. “That is the VIP?”

“Yes—yes, ma’am,” the manager answered quickly, and a little bit confused.

"It has to be him right?"

Queen’s voice turned sharp, almost dangerous causing the manager to instantly flinch backwards as the aura clawed at his heart and almost ripped it out.

“The details sent to you clearly described someone. Someone who is not him.”

The manager blinked in confusion.

Fred’s face drained of color.

Jane stiffened and startled.

Queen’s irritation grew.

“So you didn’t read it? You didn’t confirm anything?” Her tone sliced through the air. “That is not the man. Not even close.”

Fred looked like he wanted the ground to open and swallow him.

The murmurs rose.

“He lied?” “So he didn’t book anything?” “What a clown.”

Jane’s shame was bright red as her face.

Then something happened no one expected.

"I'm going to make sure that your severally punished for this!" The manage collasped to his feet, his heart flustered with fright.

"I'm..." He tried to speak but Queen would not hear another word.

Queen’s eyes drifted across the crowd, scanning as though it was searching for someone.

Until they found Marcus.

Her face softened with apologies. Her entire posture changed.

Without hesitation, she walked straight toward him, ignoring everyone else completely.

The room fell silent.

The heels clicking toward him sounded like thunder in the dead air.

People stared.

Jane’s jaw dropped.

Fred’s eyes bulged.

Phones were pointed, recording.

Queen stopped in front of Marcus, bowed her head slightly, and spoke with full sincerity.

“I’m so sorry sir,” she said. “You were treated poorly. This is entirely our mistake.”

Gasps burst around the room.

Some people nearly fell off their chairs.

Marcus… the target of insults… the broke guy…

The one they mocked nonstop…

He was the VIP?

He was the one Cent Corporation sent someone to personally receive?

Shock rippled through the entire hall.

He blinked again, confused, disoriented and his feeling strangely lighter, wrapped in fresh sheets.A soft voice snapped him back.“You’re awake,” a nurse said, smiling warmly. She moved closer, checking an IV line running into his arm. “Don’t worry, you’re safe. Just relax.”But Marcus didn’t relax. His eyes darted around the room, and the shock hit him instantly. This wasn’t a normal hospital room. This room looked like a luxury suite disguised as a medical ward. Gold trim lined the walls. The equipment looked brand new—top of the line. The seats in the corner were the kind CEOs put in executive lounges. Even the air smelled expensive.Marcus’s heart jumped.“This… where am I?” he croaked.“The Royal Crest Medical Center,” the nurse replied with a polite smile.Marcus’s eyes widened. Royal Crest. Th
