CHAPTER 03

A gorgeous brown-haired lady entered the room. “Hi, sir. It’s nice to finally meet you. I’m Mary, the director of the logistics division.” She bowed, thereby exposing the fine line setting her firm, round breasts apart.

Before Eric even realized, he was staring at her breasts.  (This one’s intentions are way too obvious, but at least she’s good-looking, hehe.) However, the words his father told him at his mother’s funeral rang in his mind: It only takes one glance at a woman’s nakedness for a man’s commonsense to wane. Don’t ever put yourself in that place, or it will drag you into a life full of lies.

And he managed to control himself and act professional.

Was she doing this on purpose? Eric wondered. “You’re the director?” he also seemed visibly surprised as she barely looked thirty. “Wait, did you say logistics division? Isn’t there already a strategy division?”

“Yes, sir, but we operate a bit differently. The logistic division deals with planning for immediate and short-term changes whereas the strategic division deals with long-term changes and growth and development.”

Eric shook his head. “This is a joke. I’m merging both the divisions. Fire all those whose performance is in the lower half.”

“W-What?” Mary was shocked.

“Why are you still here?” Eric asked.

“A-Ah, sorry, sir,” Mary turned and was about to leave, but she saw a commotion building outside through the glass wall. It was a one-way viewing wall, so those outside wouldn’t be able to see what was happening inside, but those inside could still see what was happening outside.

All the employees not only stood but also walked out of their stations to greet and talk with the person who just arrived. Mary stood on her toes so she could get a better look.

“Mm?” Eric wondered what she was doing. Obviously, he couldn’t hear the commotion going on outside because of the walls being soundproof. Nevertheless, his eyes didn’t mind looking at her ass. “Sorry, dad, but she’s got wonderful buns,” he thought and leaned back in his chair and imagined himself pressing her cheeks apart and viewing her puckered little rosebud and putting all his experience into work. “Huhu…”

However, he didn’t get to enjoy the view for long as Mary rushed out like she couldn’t hold her urine any longer.

“The women on this floor seem worth messing with,” Eric muttered under his breath. “Why didn’t I notice it until now? Well, I never visited this place all that much recently, so that’s that, I guess. But with Adam gone…”

Before the glass door even opened, Eric’s expression froze upon seeing Adam showering smiles outside and giving handshakes to men and hugs to women. Adam soon entered his room and stopped after seeing Eric who slowly raised from his seat.

“Brother…” Eric sounded a bit emotional. “Where were you all these days?” he came over and gave a big hug to Adam. “Do you have any idea how worried I was?”

Adam maintained a rather poker face. (Yeah, he’s so worried he came to sit in that seat.) “This is all Leher’s doing.”

“Yeah, yeah. I get it. But that stingy old man had us worried,” as he was speaking, he noticed the watch on Adam’s hand and was a bit surprised. He was quick to conceal his surprise, though. “Anyway, now that you’re here, I’ll arrange a family get together tonight.”

Adam’s heart skipped a beat. “I-Is that necessary?”

“Of course, it is. Everyone must be itching to see you. Unless you want them all to show up in your room like I did, you should arrange a way so that everyone can meet and talk.”

Adam’s heart was still beating loudly. “Fine, then.”

“Your voice sounds a bit off, so don’t work too hard. Have some rest.” Saying that he was walking away.

“Where are you going?”

“I’ll visit the C-suite once and talk with the other chiefs. They have been doing the hard yards the past month, so they need some rewards.”

“Okay,” Adam said. (He wants to reward them personally when I should be the one doing that? This guy is too cunning. I guess he isn’t the head of the Tech portfolio for no reason. I want to give him some trouble, but this is just the first day, so I’ll take things slow.) He looked around, and three sides of the walls showed him employees still standing outside and probably talking about him. The fourth side offered a great view of the city. The trophies and awards caught his eyes. “If I sell all these, how much will I get?”

A second of silence passed.

“Forget it. Money comes and goes. What matters more is mindset.”

He stood by the window and looked out. “You betrayed me for a bunch of coins. I don’t really care about the money and the fake relationships that follow it. I only cared about you and Uncle, but you guys… just you wait, Aunt. Once I take care of things here, I’ll make you regret that you were ever born! You will wish hell is a better place than the home you stole from me!”

The door opened, and a beautiful brown-haired beauty in a pink top entered and locked the door.

“Mm?” Adam turned around, and this voluptuous girl came running and gave him a tight hug. “Eh?” he was stunned. Even though he was told beforehand that Adam had a lot of female fans, this felt a bit too sudden. How could this woman hug him in his office?

“Adam, I really missed you,” she looked up at him with tearful eyes. Her cheeks were already red, and her sadness seemed genuine. “Do you know how much I cried this past month?” she began to stand on her toes so she could reach him better and left a trail of harsh kisses from his neck to his cheek while at it. “Do you have any idea how much I missed these lips?” she violently locked her lips with his mouth, sending jolts of electricity throughout Adam’s body. He found himself melting as the swells of her breasts brushed against his chest through the suit and tie.

Still, his hands reached out for her biceps and pushed her away with just enough force. “Stop.”

“Why?” she seemed a bit surprised. She thought she was perfect with the execution, so how could she have failed? Maybe, he just pushed her away because he would be inviting her to some place tonight? Butterflies fluttered about in her belly.

As hope filled her heart, he responded, “Your lipstick…” He rubbed his lips. “How much is it worth? You can’t waste it like this.”

“Huh?” she just didn’t know how to react to this one for a few long seconds. She then thought he was joking. “Then why don’t you put it back on my lips?” She tried to kiss him again.

“Can’t you see?” he gently stopped her by putting his fingers on her lips. “It’s no longer on my lips. And this is the office, so don’t try anything like this again.”

Her eyes widened. Adam was the last person in the world she expected to hear such words from. “Are you really Adam?”

Her question skipped Adam’s heartbeat. (Shit. Did I mess it up? Already?) He quickly removed his fingers off her lips. “I-I was just joking, of course.” Laughing out loud, he closed his eyes and tried to kiss her lips.

She suddenly felt relieved and then grinned. “I know you like defiant women, but this is your punishment for scaring this Lily!” She went on to bite his out-stretching lips.
