“Immediately? What do you mean?” Edi asked.

“The Devil System requires initial fuel. We can't give you DP instantly; it must be acquired through intimacy. You have already spent over 12 hours in a coma since the installation. That means you have less than 36 hours before the side effect, Incubus Rage, strikes,” Aurora explained, a serious note of warning now present in her voice.

Edi felt a slight, uncomfortable tremor in his stomach. It wasn't hunger, but rather an unfulfilled desire.

“Then where do I go? Who can I ask for help?” Edi asked, sensing the unstable energy in his body.

“You have to find her yourself. Remember, only Anomalous women or those with high power levels are effective. And, congratulations. We have transferred important data: a contact list, addresses, and a new identity card suitable for the new Desmond,” the man in the suit said, offering a thin smile. It was the first smile Edi had ever seen from him.

“Now go. And don't come back until you've acquired your first DP. I don't appreciate our project turning into a rampaging lunatic within a 5-kilometer radius of here,” Aurora concluded, pointing toward the back door.

Edi nodded. The old Edi was gone. He was now Desmond. Edi was an energy-hungry predator. He looked down. The System reappeared as a small hologram that only he could see.

Edi rose from his position and looked around. The room looked devastated and messy due to the previous events. Had he really just fought a devil or a demon? Edi still couldn't wrap his head around it.

Moreover, now he was the only one in the room, standing in a pool of his own blood.

“Hahahaha,” Edi laughed like a madman. He had just been eaten alive by a strange creature, yet he was still alive?

Various questions raced through Edi's mind until he took a breath and sobered up. Whatever had happened, the important thing was that he was still alive, and the first thing he needed to do was get out of this cursed place as quickly as possible. He couldn't be sure there weren't more dangers waiting for him here.

Edi immediately grabbed his CV, which he had left on the table, and hastily shoved it into his bag. He pulled on a jacket and quickly put it on to hide his torn shirt. He needed to look normal.

However, as he was about to step out, Edi froze, staring at his reflection in a mirror standing in the corner of the room.

Edi’s eyes nearly popped out when he saw how drastically his physique had changed. His body was now taller and more muscular; his skin looked clean and pale, and he had significant musculature. Edi lifted his shirt and saw his stomach, which was now defined with a six-pack. He took off his glasses, yet he could still see clearly. His eyes, which were once blurry without the aid of lenses, were now sharp as a hawk's.

“What is this?” Edi mumbled, a mixture of amazement and fear.

Edi slapped his cheeks, then pinched his arm, just to make sure he wasn't dreaming. His eyes remained glued to his reflection in the mirror, observing his hair and face. He was no longer the nerdy Edi.

“Is this really me? What happened to me?” Edi asked.

Edi couldn't find anyone who could answer his questions, and he had to leave this place immediately. He quickly stepped out of the building. Suddenly, Edi heard a voice in his head, but he had no idea where it was coming from. Edi kept walking, ignoring the persistent sound.

Edi jogged slightly, but not so fast as to arouse suspicion. Even though one or two people gave him strange looks—perhaps because of his torn jacket—Edi didn't care. Once he felt he was far enough away from the building, he headed toward a bus stop and sat down, trying to catch his breath.

Once he felt a little calmer, Edi focused again. The voice returned.

“I am Sabrun. I will serve you and help you become strong and conquer all the women you desire.” The voice sounded cold, professional, and echoed directly in Edi’s mind.

Edi didn't answer, still waiting for the voice that called itself SABRUN to say something else.

“You will be called Desmond. You are now a demon of lust, an Incubus. You must have intercourse at least once every 48 hours. If you expend more demonic energy, then you must have intercourse more frequently to recharge.”

Edi’s eyes widened. He flinched, jumping up from the bus stop seat.

“I’m a demon? Intercourse? I must have heard that wrong,” Edi blurted out.

“Do not reject this! Didn’t Aurora already explain it? If you do not have intercourse for more than 48 hours, ‘Incubus Rage’ will activate. I will take over your body, and you will seduce any woman you encounter simply to survive.”

Edi’s mouth hung open, his eyes bulging even further. “Forget seducing or having intercourse, I don’t even have a girlfriend!” Edi scoffed, full of frustration.

“You should be grateful. If you hadn't been saved, you would be dead now,” Sabrun countered, a subtle threat laced in his voice. “The nerdy Edi is dead. Accept your new identity.”

Edi kept thinking about what else he needed to know about his new self and why he was like this.

“So, besides my body and my name, what else has changed about me?” Edi asked desperately. He took a breath, trying to calm his racing heart. This reality was too absurd. He was eaten by a dog demon, brought back to life, and now forced to become a demon whose sole purpose was sex?

“A lot,” Sabrun replied in a flat, organized tone, as if reading an inventory list. “Your new body is a vessel for the Power of the Incubus. This power requires a resource. We call it DP (Desire Points), and it is recharged through the act of intercourse with female anomalies. Currently, your DP is extremely low. Zero, to be exact.”

Edi swallowed. Zero.

“How do I activate this power? Will I always be this tall and muscular?” Edi asked, looking at his hands, which were no longer covered in the calluses typical of a poor student.

“Good, you’re starting to think efficiently,” Sabrun praised. “You can switch forms between ‘Edi’ (Low-Level Human) and ‘Desmond’ (Incubus Level 1) at will. But remember, every time you use the Desmond form or any demonic power, your DP is depleted.”

“And if my DP runs out?” Edi asked.

  • A Frozen Reunion

Desmond stepped over the twisted metal remains of the Godslayer, his boots crunching on the shattered glass. Ahead of him, the partition wall leading to the Core Chamber had partially collapsed during the battle, revealing what Helix had been hiding for twenty years.A pillar of blue light. It was a colossal Stasis Tube, towering from floor to ceiling. Inside, suspended in a glowing, viscous Mana fluid, a body floated weightlessly.Desmond stopped. The distance was only five meters, but his legs felt heavy, as if pulled by the gravity of Jupiter."So this is where you’ve been hiding," Desmond whispered. His voice was hoarse, filled with an emotion he couldn't name.He walked closer until his face was reflected in the thick, cold glass of the tube.Behind that glass, his Father slept. He wore a tight white interface suit that clung to him like a second skin. Hundreds of fiber-optic cables and IV lines were embedded in his back, neck, and chest, connecting him to the machinery of Neo-Ed

"Size isn't everything, Valerius. But that toy of yours is just pathetic compensation."Desmond leaped aside just as the colossal energy sword slammed into the floor.VWOOOM-CRASH!The titanium-reinforced metal floor split like paper. A wave of plasma heat singed the tips of Desmond's hair."Compensation?" Valerius's voice boomed from the Godslayer's speakers. The giant machine moved with terrifying agility, spinning its body without pausing. "This is the pinnacle of evolution! Your flesh is archaic, Desmond. Obsolete. Fragile!"The robot's left hand, equipped with a hydraulic claw, snatched Desmond out of the air.Desmond tried to block, but the momentum was too great.BAM!Desmond was flung into the wall of monitors. Glass shattered everywhere. His back felt crushed."Cough!" Desmond fell to the floor, spitting blood. His regeneration was working slowly due to the signal interference in the room."Sabrun! "EAT THIS PLASMA, YOU RUST BUCKETS!"Nova's scream pierced through the roar of the acid rain. Her mechanical arm transformed into a Cannon, firing volley after volley of blue energy spheres.BOOM! BOOM!Lines of spider-model Security Bots blocking the highway exploded into pieces. Metal shrapnel flew everywhere, shattering the glass storefronts of abandoned shops."Left flank breached!" Yoana shouted over the com-link, taking cover behind the wreckage of a flying car. She fired with deadly precision using a tactical rifle. "Desmond! The overpass is clear! But the sky... the sky is full of flies!"Desmond looked up. Yoana was right. The sky around Helix Tower was no longer dark. It buzzed with hundreds of Attack Drones swarming like angry bees, guarding the only access to Valerius's Penthouse."Flies need swatting," Desmond muttered. He stood on the roof of a cargo truck speeding down the road, driven by one of Nova's crew.Beside him, Miriam's ghostly projection floated, her face pale

  • Valerius's Plan

"So, let me get this straight. I traveled across time, fought tigers, ate an angel, and fell into a dumpster... just to find out that my Father isn't a supervillain, but a giant Duracell battery?"Desmond stared at the blue hologram floating above the bunker's strategy table. It displayed the structure of the Helix Tower, with a pulsing red dot at its base: The Core."Not just a battery," Yoana corrected. She had swapped her stiff office suit for a tactical combat bodysuit provided by Nova. "He is a Filter. Without him processing the dirty Mana from the earth into clean energy, Valerius would have no power. But now..."Yoana swiped her hand. The hologram turned a warning red."...Valerius is bored of being a CEO. He wants to be God.""A Digital God," Nova added, typing furiously on her virtual keyboard. "I just tapped into Helix's internal comms. Valerius is prepping Project Ascension for tonight. He's going to transfer his consciousness into the City Network, using the last of your F

  • Interrogating the Secretary

"Dammit! She's locked tight! I can't get in!"Nova slammed her mechanical hand onto the metal table. In the cramped, dimly lit interrogation room of the Undergrid bunker, Yoana sat on a steel chair with perfect posture. Her hands were cuffed to the table, but her face was as calm as a frozen pond."Military-grade Black-ICE firewall," Nova growled in frustration, yanking the data cable from the port in her own neck. "Valerius installed a suicide encryption in his secretary's brain. If I force a hack, her brain will melt.""Melting sounds counterproductive," Desmond commented, leaning against the door with his arms crossed. He stared at Yoana. "What do you think, Miss? Want your brain turned into porridge?"Yoana turned her head slowly. Her eyes, usually streaming with data, were now empty."I do not possess the authority to provide Central Tower access codes," Yoana answered in a monotone voice. "Confidentiality Protocol 99. Please execute me.""See?" Nova pointed at Yoana. "She's gone

The monster roared in fury, launching micro-missiles from its shoulders."Nova! Get down!"Nova hit the deck. Desmond spread his arms wide. He didn't block the missiles. He used Technomancy."Halt."Desmond's brain signals hijacked the missiles' guidance systems in mid-air.The projectiles froze just a meter from his face, buzzing confusedly like flies."Return to sender," Desmond commanded. The missiles spun around, rocketing back toward the Chimera.BOOM! BOOM!Explosions ripped through the monster's chest. Black smoke billowed. Flesh and metal scattered. The monster staggered, but it wasn't dead yet. Its cybernetic regeneration system kicked in, knitting wounds with nanobots."Look at that!" Valerius exclaimed from above, sounding impressed. "It can heal itself! You can't beat the march of progress, Desmond!""March of progress?" Desmond scoffed. He walked through the smoke
