“This kid doesn’t look capable. His clothes seem to have a bit of quality to it but it doesn’t amount to what even the ordinary workers of this company wear. He rides a motorbike to work. He should be a cleaner, right? If he offended Miss Griffin, I’m afraid he wouldn’t even be worthy of washing the toilets.”
“Who is this? Why haven’t I seen him before? Isn’t he afraid of offending Miss Griffin?”
“Maybe he just wants to attract Griffin’s attention!”
“That makes sense! It turns out he’s just a toad trying to swallow a swan! Does he not possess a mirror at home? He’s wearing middle class clothes. What is he thinking?”
Manuel remained quiet.
Gavin got him a set of high-end clothes that weren’t even displayed to the world just yet but Manuel felt satisfied with being lowkey for now and sent Gavin back to just get him something of more quality but not expensive.
Emily frowned slightly and said, “You? Working in our company? Who recruited you? Why don’t I know?”
“With your attitude, no matter who recruited you, I’m telling you now… You’re fired! I don’t need you to pay for any damages. Just take your motorbike and get lost!”
At this, Manuel chuckled. This was honestly funny.
Firing the owner of the company?
How presumptuous.
“Are you asking me to leave?” Manuel asked again wanting to be sure his ears weren’t pulling a fast one on him.Emily resisting the urge to slap this unruly peasant just snorted and asked with her chin high up, “What’s so funny? Security get this man out of here!”
Manuel was really getting amused as he folded his arms across his chest.
The security guards rushed over to him.
At this moment, a deafening horn sounded causing the employees to quickly disperse in different directions, because a Bentley directly stopped at the parking space of the president.
Then a man in his early twenties, wearing a blue striped shirt, black pants and his hair brushed back in a sleek manner quickly walked down.
Gavin didn’t even spare other people so much as a glance and quickly walked over to Manuel. He bowed ninety degrees and said, “I’m so sorry Sir. There was traffic hence my tardiness.”
Manuel glanced at him and nodded.
“Everyone knows who the President is. You can’t just walk up to a cleaner and call him that!”
Gavin knew that Manuel wasn’t ready to live with the fuss of being powerful just yet, looking at Manuel cautiously and sighting his expressionless face, he turned to Emily coldly already making up his mind that to at least let Emily eat up her words after all the news couldn’t spread that quickly with just this small group of people.
“Miss Griffin, open your ears and listen very carefully. Starting today, this is our new President, Mr. Rodriguez.”
“What?!”
Everyone had shock etched on their faces especially the security chief. He felt like he had just punched himself in the face. This…
“How is it possible?! It’s impossible!” Emily bit her plump lips.
“This person is surnamed Rodriguez, yes. He was my college classmate. How could he be our president? There are lots of other Rodriguez out there.”
Emily felt very confused.
Furthermore, he was being caught at Eastbay Diner yesterday.
“You, as the manager doesn’t get to decide who is the president and who is not,” Gavin said lightly but lay emphasis on the word ‘manager’.
Many people were flattering her not too long ago, but now… at this moment Emily could not think of anything.
She bit her lips as her face turned pale. She felt that even her knees were weakening. She dared not take her gaze from the ground. She was a high-performing individual and had a lot of connections in Rodriguez Enterprises and she was so sure that she would even be promoted to general manager.
However, she wanted to fire the president today…
No wonder he chuckled.
It was extremely ridiculous.
“Mr., Mr. Rodriguez… I didn’t mean it… I just said that in a fit of anger…” Emily lips trembled.
“You can pack your stuffs and make way for a worthy manager,” Manuel spoke calmly, turned and walked into the company with Gavin right behind him.
Many employees were talking about it.
Only a few people knew about the sudden change of the president.
The president/CEO’s office was on the top floor of the office building and occupied the entire floor.
Manuel sat in the president’s chair with a strange expression. He could sadly remember how he had always admired his father from a young age in being able to handle the company’s affairs without a flaw and he wished to sit in the chair one day.
Gavin brought out a few documents that needed to be urgently attended to with the one that urgently needed the funding of the 2.5 billion dollars.
He looked up at Gavin and asked him if the someone reached out to him concerning his black card.
“Yes, they did. You have exactly 900 trillion dollars in your black card sir. This amount is too large for a normal account and so it was moved to an offshore account,” Gavin replied with a smile. He knew his boss had suffered enough.
Manuel couldn’t help but widen his eyes as his pupils dilated in shock. With that much money, of course, 2.5 billion dollars was like a drop in the ocean for him. He quickly settled the business crises that day and got Gavin to return him home at night to avoid the banter of the previous night.

As Manuel settled down on the couch closest to the door, Gavin dropped a suitcase containing some documents Manuel wanted to work on before going to bed on the table.
Gavin just stood in front of Manuel assessing his mood so he could say what he felt was necessary for Manuel to know.
Manuel was massaging his forehead using his two fingers with his eyes closed. Having sensed no movement, he opened his eyes to see Gavin staring at him with a pitiful look.
Manuel knew he had suffered a lot but that didn’t warrant this intense pitiful gaze from Gavin.
Raising an eyebrow, returning a probing gaze to Gavin, Gavin quickly broke his train of thoughts and adjusted his expression but Manuel wasn’t going to let go of that just easily. He could feel something was going on.
But he wasn’t prepared for what came next.

The board meeting unfolded like every other board meeting. Manuel had slept in the room in his office and so he was able to be in the office earlier than most people. Now, the board members were slowly beginning to get used to Manuel and some of them had even began to talk freely. One director complained about rise logistics cost, another suggested delaying the european partnership and someone else proposed increasing the advertising budget. The routine was normal for a board meeting.Manuel stood at the head of the table in silence and began to tap his fingers slightly against the polished wood as he looked distracted and then he stopped. Across the room sat the people he had worked with for a few months and some had even served the company longer than he had been alive yet one of them had hacked their way into his trap but which one?“President Rodriguez?” Director Hayes pushed his glasses up his nose. “The manufacturing reports require your approval.”Manuel glanced at him, snappin

Four years ago…Alistair burst into the hospital room, flowers in one hand and documents in the other. “We’ve going to be okay.”His wife looked up at him and said weakly, “You sound confident.” He laughed shakily, “The merger goes through next week. We’ll have enough and you’ll receive treatment. We’ll travel after this, you’ve always wanted to see Italy, remember?”She frowned slightly and asked, “The merger you told me you were still drafting? But it’s not finished yet.”Alistair was ambitious and didn’t just want to be a board member or a chairman in Rodriguez Enterprises, he also wanted to become a reliable business partner to them. He was working on the merger before his wife fell ill and then he had to abandon it and if the deal fell through, he believed to receive a lot of profit from it. Though it was not yet completed, he was going to mask it up and send it directly to the CEO, who was also known as the shadow broker even though he had never seen him in person despite his po

Past midnight, Rodriguez Enterprises remained unusually quiet. Most of the employees had gone home hours ago and only cleaning staff moved through the deserted corridors.Inside the President’s office, the glow of his computer screen illuminated Manuel’s face and stacks of files lay open across the desk, board attendance records, archived reports, meeting transcripts and old investment summaries. Manuel had the habit of maintaining order but for him to be that messy, it was strange.Gavin sat on the couch adjacent to Manuel and couldn’t help but watch his boss sift through old documents that had been long forgotten. “You’ve been looking through documents from four years ago the entire day. Sir please, you need to rest.”Manuel didn’t answer immediately as his eyes still remained on the screen going through the Project 608, the merger proposal, board discussions and attendance sheet and the same names appeared repeatedly. Gavin stood up and walked closer to Manuel, “What exactly are yo

Three days later, the trap was ready and Brandon personally delivered it. The employees of Rodriguez Enterprises were in awe and fear of Brandon as they watched him head straight in the direction of Manuel’s office. “Brandon looks so cool,” a female employee said in a slightly hushed tone to her friend and her friend replied, “Of course, he would be. Seems like Brandon is close with our boss, this isn’t the first time he’s come here and when he does he always heads in the boss’ office direction.”On hearing that, the female employee squealed, trying to keep her voice under wraps, “Then I should hit the salon and spa more often if Brandon Walker is going to keep showing up here. Who knows, one day he might notice me.”Nudging the female employee, her friend said, “You better snap out of your delusions. We’ve got work to finish, as if someone like him would ever notice insignificant beings like us.”Hours passed as they tested every feature, every folder, every document, every hidden p

The evening rush at the Eastbay Diner was in full swing. Waitresses and waiters moved between tables carrying trays loaded with food and drinks. Laughter mixed with the clinking of glasses while a live band played softly from a small platform near the far corner of the restaurant area.Outside, luxury cars and ordinary sedans filled the parking lot alike. Inside, nobody cared. Eastbay Diner had earned its reputation years ago and it wasn’t just because it was a famous place to dine and wine but also because it didn’t just offer menus to the rich. Rich and average classed, everyone came for the food and also for the owner. Whoever could get on Brandon Walker’s good side and possibly strike a deal with him would be said to have supposedly hit the jackpot. The glass doors opened and a cool breeze swept inside as Manuel Rodriguez stepped into the diner wearing a black coat over a dark shirt. He looked so casual and Gavin followed a few steps behind. Several customers glanced up from whate

“My firewall showed attempted penetration. It wasn’t noticeable but because I had Brandon get someone to strengthen my firewall with a detector, I noticed. And I was also able to find out someone else besides Penelope had a motive for our dinner that day and so I indulged her.”Even though Manuel had proven himself to be worthy of the positions as the President and CEO and was obviously doing well, there were still some people that did not want to accept it but no one had the audacity to voice out especially when he was revealed to be Sir Jeremy’s successor. Unfortunately, they’ve now chosen to resort to extreme measures. The next day, Penelope got to her office very early to avoid the stares and gazes of some people but as soon as she stepped into her office, she saw someone in a black suit with his back to her sitting on her own swivel chair facing the glass wall and looking down at pedestrians down below. She became on high alert and quickly pulled out her phone.“There would be no
