“Huh!”

The crowd froze hearing this as they couldn't believe their ears.

Fifteen million for saving a boy? If they knew this, they would have jumped into the river earlier without any hesitation.

After all, in the entire Roseville, only a few families would be able to pull out such a large amount of money.

“I'm sorry, old man, but that goes against my principles,” Logan's voice came, pulling everyone out of their thoughts.

But at the moment, Logan’s voice sounded like a clap of lightning to their ears, and they couldn't help but glance at him rather incredulously.

What the heck was the young man thinking? Rejecting fifteen million?

If it were not for the guards present, they wanted to rush forward and beat the heck out of him.

The old man also frowned slightly, observing Logan, who had a gentle smile.

“I...”

“If you're thinking about adding to the amount, then you should just discard it. No matter how much you offer, I won't be accepting it,” Logan shook his head, interrupting the old man, his voice firm.

The old man, Bruce, froze at the moment, observing Logan. He could tell that Logan actually meant what he said.

Besides, Logan’s tone just now sent a shiver down his spine, making him wonder who the young man was.

“If that's the case, young man, then I'll thank you on behalf of the Palmer family.” Bruce bowed again to Logan.

“And if you ever run into a problem, you can always come to the Palmer family, and I assure you, we'll try our best to help you out.”

“Let's go,” Bruce commanded, turning around to leave with his men.

The onlookers, on the other hand, froze hearing this. This time, they were no longer green with envy; what they wanted was to take Logan's place.

The Palmer family? That was one of the freaking top five families in Roseville.

How in heavens was that young man so lucky? Having the Patriarch of the Palmer family bow to him and even promising to help him if he ever ran into trouble.

At the moment, all those who had felt as though Logan was a fool for not accepting the money felt as though they had been slapped in the face.

Surely, the weight of a favour from a top family, compared to a measly fifteen million, was truly nothing.

“Old man, just a small reminder before you leave,” Logan suddenly called before Bruce could leave.

Hearing Logan call him back, Bruce stopped in his tracks but didn't say anything; neither did he turn around to look at Logan.

“If I'm not wrong, over the past week, a few strange incidents have been occurring lately in your family,” Logan stated, his brows narrowing into a thin line.

Hearing Logan’s statement, Bruce's expression changed, but still, he didn't turn around.

Logan, on the other hand, couldn't care less. All he wanted was just to warn the other party; he wasn't expecting them to believe him anyway.

“There's a bracelet on your wrist; that's what's bringing you bad luck,” Logan continued without a care in the world.

“If you don't get rid of it, then you can prepare for the funeral of your family in three days.”

“And you'll go and meet them on the seventh day.”

“Your grandson falling into a river filled with crocodiles is just the beginning. I'm sure other strange things have happened,” Logan continued, ignoring the strange gazes of the onlookers.

“That was just an appetizer; things would only get worse until everyone from your family dies, leaving only you behind.”

“How dare you curse the Palmer family?” One of the guards growled, stepping forward, glaring at Logan.

“Curse?” Logan scoffed, his gaze falling on Bruce once again.

“Ask the old man if I'm cursing the Palmer family or not; he knows best,” Logan chuckled and then turned around.

“Remember, if you don't want everyone in your family to die within three days, get rid of that bracelet; only then can you all survive a bit more,” Logan repeated and then walked away.

“How dare you!” The guard with Bruce growled and wanted to pounce forward when Bruce's voice came.

“Let him be,” Bruce commanded, stopping the man from grabbing Logan, who was leaving.

“Perhaps he might be saying the truth,” Bruce muttered, looking down at the bracelet in his hands.

Though lately, strange things have been happening at the Palmer family. First was his son-in-law and daughter’s mysterious deaths.

'Til today, he just couldn't understand how he died. Then came his daughter's call that her nephew fell into the river.

As to how it happened, even she couldn't explain clearly. Other incidents, like suddenly choking on random foods or getting sick all of a sudden, had happened. But he never once attributed it to anything.

Though the incidents were getting more bizarre with each passing day, he didn't want to think about it.

“Get that young man's information for me; I want to see who he is,” Bruce commanded, turning to the man beside him.

“Yes, sir,” the man nodded and hurriedly walked away while pulling out his phone.

“I'd better hope you're not lying to me, young man,” Bruce muttered, glancing at the bracelet in his hands.

For some reason he didn't know, he believed what Logan had just said. And for some other reasons, he didn't believe it. After all, it sounded just too absurd. No normal person would want to believe it.

But at the same time, he couldn't bear to get rid of the bead. After all, it had been given to him by someone he trusted, stating not only would it bring good luck, it would also help improve his health.

And just as said, he hadn't fallen sick ever since he wore the bracelet. So suddenly getting rid of it was impossible. Not under the words of someone he barely knew.

Shaking his head, Bruce pushed the matter to the back of his mind and got into the car.

Seeing Bruce get into the car, the driver started and drove away almost immediately.
