John stood petrified as his gaze met with the blazing looks of his wife, Rachael, a stunning lady with an embody of grace just stood there, shocked at what lay before her.
Her face turned pale red with shock and her hands clutched with anger as a sudden burning sensation suddenly ran through every course of his body
"What's going on here?“ An expression of shock and bewilderment clouded her face and she continued to stare at them, still trying to make things out in her head.
The realization of the person that stood at the door forced Bella to jerk back instantly. Her face rushing over with sweat as she was panting for breath.
She staggered forward, tears suddenly streaming out without restraint from her eyes at the moment.
"I thought that he was only poor and shameless, I never knew that he would try to take advantage of me.." She cried even harder, falling and rolling to the floor.
“Just because mom asked me to help me with my assignment. He decided to take advantage of me because I am very weak.“ She cried even harder, her face bowed to the floor.
Rachael clutched her hands so tightly until her knuckles made a cracking sound and her teeth gritted with so much fury.
"You didn't just think about cheating on me. Out of all the people in the world, you had to choose my cousin?“ She smashed the pause that she was holding angrily on the floor making a scattering sound.
“What??? Weren't you the one that came after me?" John could not withhold his anger but before he could even get to finish his statement, Rachael shot towards him, slapping him hard on the face.
"You fool, You still have the guts to lie about it?" Rachael shot a deadly glare at him, fuming with anger that she could barely stand.
He turned towards Rachael with a surprised look on his face, still trying to comprehend what just happened.
“We have been married for three years now. Are you going to believe her words over mine?“ He replied staring right into her eyes but she only hissed.
“What's there not to believe? You worthless fool.“ She thundered back at him with so much fury in her voice.
"Aren't you even going to give me a chance to explain??"
"What's there to explain huh? I saw it with my eyes. You go about this house doing absolutely nothing.. And when you get the opportunity, you try to bite the hands that feed you. Aren't you just a stupid and worthless pervert?" She yelled furiously.
Her sound vibrated in the whole house like an alarm clock, bringing the attention of his grandmother and her cousin's brother over to the room.
"What's going on here?" Lady Willow inquired with so much in her eyes.
“He tried taking advantage of Bella mom! Only God knows what he would have done if I had not gotten here earlier.“ She spat out the words with so much disgust in her voice.
"Oh my God..." Lady Willow rushed over to Bella who was still sobbing on the floor and held her tight.
After a few minutes, she rose from the floor at the heights of that anger that stormed off through every course of her body
"You were around doing nothing! So I sent you here to help her and that's the only thing your idle mind could cook up?" She thundered as another slap landed on his face.
"So that's what has always been going up through your mind haven't it! You son of a b**tch!" She kept on hitting John multiple times while he stood with his foot still petrified to the floor.
"Rachael, this is all your fault. I told you to divorce him a long time ago but you will not listen, now look at the man that he truly is."
"He knew that he was certainly not going. Shameless piece of thrash." His brother-in-law, Benjamin snared.
Right now, John knew better than to say anything because no matter what he said, they were certainly not going to believe a word of what he said.
"I regret ever getting married to you and right now. I told you that I was busy and couldn't have anything! If you had an objection, why didn't you just come to me! Rather you decided to take it out on poor Bella?"
"I want a divorce right away to do away with you forever." She glared at him with so much hatred.
John almost scoffed. Come to her? The last time that he even dared bring up that subject, he had been scolded like he was some seven years old.
Rachael had made sure that he left on the cold hard floor while only she had the master bed to herself. Her own ways of taking precautions.
The disgust that welled up throughout every single inch of her vines as she stared at him at the moment knew no bound.
John had always been the cause of her brothers and she had always thought that one day, he was certainly going to change. But guess that day was never going to come after all.
She drew a deep breath, her hands gradually reaching out to her pockets as she placed a call to the only person that could help her.
“Hey. Mr James" Her voice was audible enough for everyone in the room to hear what she was saying.
John recognized the name even though they had only met once. It was her lawyer.
“Mr James.. I'm coming over to your office right away. I want you to go ahead with the preparation of the divorce agreement as we agreed earlier!" Rachel's hands were gradually formed into a ball as she spoke.
There was a sudden pause. John could suddenly feel a strange heat running through his vines and mixed emotions flowing through his eyes.
Even without the event of the accusation, Rachael was already planning to divorce him.
The walls around his heart were gradually beginning to crumble and it was like someone was squeezing right into his heart.
"Is there a problem Mr. James? Why aren't you responding!" She frowned.
Every single thing in the world was irritating to her at the moment.
"No! Nothing is wrong Mrs. Rachael! I was just wondering. The last time you said you no longer wanted it. Why the sudden urgency?" James inquired, confused..
"Because I just discovered the kind of a husband that I got married to!" She responded angrily.
With her response came the end of the call as she shot a very hit gaze at John, staring deep into his eyes. Rachael hissed and was soon away from the room in a moment.
A broad smile carved through the lips of Lady Willow. This was what she had always wanted in the first place.
"Finally! We are getting rid of the scum!" She announced proudly and victoriously.
It has barely been a long time since Rachael left and she returned with a few copies of A4 papers in her hands..
"This is just in case you try anything funny!" She raised the paper flinging on at him.
"There is certainly no essence arguing with me asking anything else John! Just sign the papers already and be out of our lives!" She said,
John stared at the woman that had saved him a long time ago, the lady that he had always loved. They didn't even seem to be the slightest trace of love in his eyes if hers anymore, just those of hatred and disgust.
"I want to ask you one question Rachael, have you ever loved me?" He inquired staring right into her eyes but a loud scoff was the first answer that he got.
"Love? Let me ask you a question too scumbag, if you were placed in my shoes, would you have loved a broke ass like yourself who eventually turns out to be a pervert and a rapist?“ Rachael spat out the words from her mouth without a single trace of emotions in her eyes.
"You should thank your vicious stars that I am not taking this up with the police and I am just letting you go!" Rachael scowled.
"If I was a heartless lady! I would have made you rot in jail for the rest of your freaking miserable life!"
John stared at her for a while with missed emotions in his eyes. Even though they had been married for three years, she didn't still know the husband that she was married to.
Memories of the past flooded into his head. Times where he was treated so well because he has given her the money that she used to start business.
But as the business grew, she saw him only as someone that could only pull him back and he was treated more like a slave.
But they never really stopped to ask themselves why there was a sudden boom within such a short period.
He was the reason behind their progress.
"There is certainly no need for me to keep holding on to someone who never loved me." He replied. "I will sign the papers."
He could hear the rejoicing and relieving sigh streaming out from the lips of Lady Willow and his in-laws making cheerful sounds but that didn't matter to him.
Then, her cell phone made a beeping sound and she reached out to it. It was a message from Johnson and he wanted to discuss some business issues with her.
Taking the pen off her purse, she signed the A4 paper and threw it toward him with a long hateful hiss.
"Make it quick and when you are done, get out of this house. And I wish to never see you again.." She thundered at him.
She took a spray from her purse and had a light touch through every single part of her body and he got the message that she was trying to pass across to him.
A slight sigh escaped from his lips as he stared at the paper staring coldly at him.
Without a single trace of hesitation, he got the papers off the floor together with the pen that she dropped and signed the documents.
“Now, the next thing that is left is for you to organize those thrash that you call luggage and get yourself out of this place." He heard one of them saying but ignored their words.
He walked away from the room towards his room, knowing fully well that he had just a handful of things for him to pack.
But when he was done and he was about to leave, his ears caught up with some pattern of feet right behind him.
Dropping his bag on the small table in his room, he turned around slowly to see who it was only to discover that it was Lady Willow, Benjamin and Bella
She seemed completely fine now with a dark smile on her face.
His expression disappeared into a swift frown as he continued to stare at the three of them
"What exactly do you want this time? Haven't you done enough already?" He tried to keep his calm while the hot flow of his anger ran through his bloodstream.
But suddenly, he heard a familiar sound from behind him.
"Done enough already?" He could hear the dark hiss of Lady Willow like a stab from behind.
"Do you think that we are going to allow you to leave just like that? After what you did? They hissed.

JOHN'S POVThe announcement spreads through the Academy before anyone officially confirms it. That's how things work here. Rumors travel faster than notices, and by the time anything is posted officially, everyone already knows.I see it in the way instructors glance at me during training, then at Divo, then back again like they're mentally measuring the distance between us. Assistants linger near our stations longer than necessary. Conversations die when either of us enters a room, then restart in quieter, more careful tones. The tension becomes something physical, settling into my shoulders like weight I can't put down."You feel it too, right?" Thomas says during a break in training, leaning against the wall beside me. "The whole place feels like it's holding its breath.""I feel it," I confirm."How are you doing with it?" he asks."Trying not to run out of breath?" I say.He gives me a look that says he doesn't believe me. I don't push back on it because honestly, he's right not

Chapter 82JOHN'S POVThe Academy hums with quiet anticipation the next morning. I notice it the moment I step into the dining hall. Conversations pause when I approach, heads turning briefly before looking away. Then the talking resumes in softer tones, more careful than before.I grab food and sit with my team. Lawrence looks up as I settle into my seat."Morning," he says. "Slept at all?""Well enough," I lie.Maya studies my face with that direct way she has. "You look tired.""I'm fine," I say, taking a bite of bread I don't particularly want.Thomas leans in slightly. "It's not just you noticing things today. Something feels off this morning. Like everyone's waiting for something."He's right. The shift in atmosphere is subtle but very noticeable throughout breakfast. People step aside for me without meeting my eyes, creating a path that feels less like respect and more like distance. Like they're already positioning themselves away from whatever is coming."Did something happen
Chapter 81
JOHN'S POVThe tea house sits quiet when I arrive, tucked into the eastern corner of the meditation garden just as Elder Ming described. It's a small structure, traditional in design, with paper screens and a low table inside. Steam rises faintly from a kettle already set out, two cups placed precisely across from each other.Elder Ming is already there, kneeling on a cushion with perfect posture. He looks up as I enter and gestures to the cushion opposite him."John. Thank you for coming.""Thank you for the invitation," I say, removing my shoes at the entrance before stepping inside.I settle onto the cushion, feeling awkward in the formal position. Elder Ming seems completely at ease, like he was born to sit this way.He pours tea for both of us with deliberate care. The tea flows from the pot in a smooth line, filling each cup to exactly the same level. He watches my hands as I accept the cup, observing how I hold it, whether I understand the proper etiquette.I hold it with both

Chapter 80JOHN'S POVTraining is interrupted when an instructor redirects me to a different station than the one I am assigned. I'm halfway to my designated workspace when he calls out."John, not that one. Over here."I stop and turn. He's pointing to a station in the far corner, away from where the rest of my team is setting up."I was assigned to station three," I say, checking the board where assignments are posted."Change of plans," the instructor says. His tone is casual but his eyes are firm. "Station seven needs someone. You'll work there today."I glance at station seven. The tools there are modern, unfamiliar in their design. Digital monitors, electronic diagnostic equipment, instruments that require power sources and calibration. None of the traditional tools I normally rely on are present. When I hesitate, the instructor gestures for me to move. "Is there a problem?""No," I say, because what else can I say?I walk to station seven and examine the setup more closely. Eve
Chapter 79
JOHN'S POVThe failure of another participant spreads through the Academy before noon. I don't see it happen, but I witness the aftermath in the corridor when the person is escorted past us by two officials. The participant is a young man I recognize from the obstacle course. He'd struggled through it but finished. Now his eyes are fixed on the floor, his shoulders hunched inward like he's trying to disappear. His team stands frozen in place against the wall, watching him pass.No one steps forward. No one speaks. No one offers comfort or solidarity. The space around him empties too quickly, participants backing away like failure is contagious. Like getting too close might infect them with whatever inadequacy caused him to wash out.I stay where I am, not backing away but not approaching either. Just watching as he's led down the corridor toward the administrative building. Toward whatever process removes failed participants from the Academy. When he's out of sight, the corridor stays
Chapter 78
JOHN'S POVI wake with a tightness in my chest that does not fade, I try shaking it off as I run through the usual morning routine but even as I move through the dorm corridors toward the trial hall, the feeling still stays, like a rock that isn't ready to move. Something about today feels different. Heavier. The air itself seems to press down, or maybe it's just me in my head. Groups gather in low clusters along the pathway, watching each other more than they speak. Conversations stop when I pass. Eyes follow my movement. I keep walking, not acknowledging the attention that my presence is drawing. I hate it. The trial hall is larger than the conference rooms we've used before. High ceilings, stone walls, rows of chairs arranged theater-style facing a central examination area. Observers are already seated - officials, family representatives, other participants waiting their turns. When I step into the room, one of the evaluators signals for me to approach. She's a woman I don't rec
