The white flame roared inside him, scorching from within, yet somehow… comforting.

Eddy’s chest burned, muscles screamed, and his lungs protested, but he felt… alive. More alive than ever. The entity recoiled slightly, as though struck, its shadowy forms wavering against the light emanating from his core.

“…impossible…” the voice hissed, unsteady for the first time. “…how… can this vessel…”

Eddy’s hands clenched the ring. The system pulsed violently in his mind.

The entity split, multiplying. Each shadow forms an identical one, eyes glowing faintly. They circled him, moving in precise formation, testing.

Eddy’s vision sharpened. Everything felt connected: the shadows, the flame, the mine itself. He could see faint lines tracing energy currents through the darkness, pulsing in rhythm with the Forge Heart.

“…fascinating…” the voice muttered. “…the vessel can see me.”

Eddy’s lips curled slightly. “Then see this!”

He slammed the ring against his chest. The white flame erupted outward like a supernova contained in a cage.

Shadows collided with it, screeching as they dissolved, their forms twisting violently before dispersing into the air. But not all vanished.

Two forms remained. Larger. Slower. Watching. Patient. “…adaptive…” the voice whispered. “…it learns quickly…”

Eddy felt a flicker of awareness inside him. The system had unlocked something new.

The ground trembled as he extended his hand toward the walls. White flame raced outward, fusing with the rocky walls of the mine. They glowed red-hot, reshaping under his will. The shards and debris twisted into sharp pillars and jagged barricades around him and the servant.

“Master Eddy—don’t—!” the servant shouted, scrambling to keep his balance.

The first shadow leaped forward, moving faster than he expected. But the flame pillars tore through the tunnel, forcing it to halt mid-lunge. Another pillar formed in a heartbeat, skewering the creature.

“…clever…” the entity whispered, but its voice carried tension now. “…the vessel… changes the battlefield…”

Eddy narrowed his eyes. He could feel the Forge Heart throbbing, insistent, demanding.

He reached for the remnants of the corrupted energy core nearby, placing it at the center of the room. Blood from his coughing streaked the stone floor, dripping over the core. He whispered under his breath:

The entity let out a hiss, its multiple forms quivering. “…this… should not be possible…”

A sudden tremor shook the mine. Dust and small stones fell from the ceiling. The shadows began to merge into something larger, responding to the new energy coursing through Eddy.

Eddy’s vision changed. He could see the Eerie Spawn not as shapes, but as energy matrices, each thread connected to the main entity.

And one thread, lender, pulsing differently, connected directly to him. “…your mother’s mark…” the voice whispered, colder now. “…it’s stronger than I anticipated…”

Eddy’s eyes narrowed. “Mark? My mother… what did you leave me?”

Silence answered him. Then the shadows split violently, creating a massive spike of darkness that surged directly at him.

The Forge Heart responded instinctively. Flames erupted outward in a violent wave, consuming the darkness in white-hot fire, but even as the wave hit, the spike did not dissipate.

Eddy stumbled back, fury and fear burning in equal measure. He had survived, but barely. “…you cannot contain me,” the entity hissed. “…and you are not complete…”

Eddy gritted his teeth, gripping the ring. “I’ll become complete… if I have to tear this world apart to do it.”

The shadows writhed, coiling toward him like serpents made of pure darkness. The Forge Heart pulsed violently in response, surging through his veins, illuminating his body from within. “…now…” the entity whispered. “…the trial begins…”

The ground beneath the mine cracked violently. Dust and stones flew as a new fissure opened at his feet, revealing a cavern deeper than any he’d ever seen. Darkness pooled at the bottom like liquid shadow. And from the depths, something moved.

Eddy’s eyes widened. Not another spawn. Something… massive. “…the other half…” the voice inside hissed, a shiver running through him. “…it waits below…”

He glanced at the servant, whose face was pale, fear etched in every line. “Master Eddy… whatever is down there… It's ancient. You can’t fight it.”

Eddy’s chest heaved. The Forge Heart pulsed, syncing with the rhythm of the abyss below. “…I have to,” he whispered. “…I have no choice.”

The shadows surged, the flame roared, and the mine itself seemed to groan in anticipation. And then, from the bottom of the abyss, a shape rose. Larger than any shadow. Formless… yet intelligent. And it was looking directly at him.
