“Turns out you’re so tight, darling. Am I your first?” Jacob once again threw his sharp thorns, piercing right into Jackson’s broad chest that was rising and falling heavily.

“Of course. You’re my first, Jacob. It feels truly wonderful.”

Shameless as ever, Brielle kept moving, giving pleasure to Marck while also savoring it for herself—something she was indeed experiencing for the very first time, and of her own will. Everything looked so real that Jackson couldn’t possibly barge in and punch the man who was both satisfying and being satisfied by his wife on that bed right now.

“Ah, Brielle, you’re so tight. It feels incredible, and I really love this. You’re simply amazing.”

“Touch me, Jacob. Help me finish faster. I’m already feeling weak.”

Those words from Brielle made Jackson’s blood boil to the top of his head. His eyes turned red, radiating blazing anger, and the bitter disappointment was crystal clear from the tears welling up at the corners of his eyes.

Jackson quickly walked away, leaving the slightly open door behind.

The night grew late, and for the first time, Brielle didn’t return home. Of course, Jackson already knew the reason his wife wouldn’t be coming home that night.

Morning came. While Madam Ester was having breakfast, Brielle arrived home and immediately greeted her mother, who was eating alone.

Usually, Brielle and her mother had breakfast together, and only after they finished would her younger sister eat.

“Good morning, Mother.”

“Brielle. You just got home, dear?”

Madam Ester asked casually with a smile as she welcomed her eldest daughter and immediately pulled out a chair for her precious child.

It was usually Jackson who would pull out the chair for his wife, even though he wasn’t allowed to have breakfast at that dining table. He had always treated her like a queen, despite being treated as if he didn’t exist. Insults from his mother-in-law he could still endure, let alone being ignored by his wife. But today, just hearing Brielle’s voice made Jackson feel utterly disgusted. There was no love left in his heart for her, and he had already decided to divorce her soon.

“So? Has Jacob officially appointed you as his personal secretary?” Madam Ester asked excitedly.

“Of course, Mother. Why do you still need to ask? I am Brielle—your great daughter. Not like Jenny, who’s useless and worthless!”

Jackson turned his head toward his sister-in-law, who wasn’t far away. They weren’t in the dining room, but the kitchen was close enough that he could clearly hear every vile word his wife spoke.

Silent. Jennyfer showed no expression whatsoever, as usual. She had long been immune to every word thrown at her by her mother and sister, so she appeared indifferent.

Unwilling to hear another word from the woman who had disgusted him since last night, Jackson turned and walked away.

“Brother?”

Brielle called out to him that morning—for the first time, perhaps, she had ever spoken to him first.

“Hmm.”

Jackson only hummed and continued walking, not sparing her a single glance.

“Don’t mind that beggar. Just focus on your job now. Tonight, we have a big event at Grandma’s residence. Do you remember what today is?!”

“Oh right, today is Grandma’s birthday!”

“Exactly. So your job today is to bring Jacob to that big event. He is the one worthy and deserving to accompany you. Don’t you dare bring that beggar along. He will only ruin the atmosphere and embarrass us!”

“Yes, Mother.”

Madam Ester laughed gleefully with her eldest daughter, already plotting the big plans that had been running through her mind.

Jackson, unable to endure any longer, tried his luck that afternoon.

When Madam Ester and Brielle had just left to prepare themselves for the big event at Grandma Hima’s residence—a woman who held an important role in their lives, as she still oversaw 80 percent of the family’s vast palm oil estates—Jackson seized the opportunity. If Madam Ester could win her mother-in-law’s heart again, she would grow even richer, especially if she could secure just another 30 percent of the family’s land.

With the house empty, Jackson finally had some freedom. Without sneaking around, he went straight to Brielle’s room—the woman who had been his legal wife for two years, though never once fulfilling her duties as such.

Slowly, Jackson opened the door and stepped inside, his eagle eyes scanning the spacious room, four times larger than both his and Jennyfer’s rooms.

He began rummaging through every closet and drawer in that lavish room. Nearly twenty minutes passed, yet he still couldn’t find what he was searching for, even though he had looked thoroughly.

No. Jackson couldn’t stay in that house any longer. He wanted to leave without any burden. That meant he had to settle his divorce with Brielle first before walking away. His name had to remain clean, untarnished, and he refused to be tied to a wife who had betrayed their sacred marriage.

“Damn it. Where does Brielle keep that book?!”

Jackson began to feel anxious about lingering too long in Brielle’s room.

Suddenly, his eyes landed on the nightstand beside the grand, luxurious bed. Slowly, he walked over and opened the drawers beneath it.

Clack!

As the last bottom drawer slid open, two Marriage Books issued by the Office of Religious Affairs two years ago came into view.

Jackson had never been entrusted with keeping those books, even though one of them rightfully belonged to the husband.

With trembling fingers, he grabbed the red marriage book designated for the husband. Jackson opened it and carefully read what was written inside. Back then, he had only signed it without having the chance to read anything.

His eyes widened as he saw the name of the wife listed there. Jackson swallowed hard and blinked repeatedly, making sure that what he was reading wasn’t a mistake.

He picked up a spoon and sat beside her bed.“Since the food is still a bit hot, and your hand is connected to an IV making it difficult for you to eat, I’ll take the President Director’s place and feed you.”Albert’s firm words made Jennyfer’s eyes widen in disbelief. We’ll need to go to another room to collect more blood, because the patient will still need sufficient blood supply for his recovery.”The experienced nurse, who was used to handling situations like this, immediately took the proper action.“Mother, Bram, check first whether your blood is compatible to donate for Jackson,” said Mr. Emerald Raksa at once.“Yes, Dad.”Mrs. Marina quickly took her son and followed the nurse towar

The team of specialists was performing a major surgery to remove the bullet that had pierced through Jackson’s sturdy upper arm. The shot had gone deep, shattering part of his humerus—the bone connecting the shoulder joint and elbow joint. If the bullet had only lodged in the muscle, it would’ve been an easy job for the surgical team. But since the humerus was fractured and splintered, the procedure became longer, more complex, and required absolute precision. If the broken bone wasn’t treated properly, it could lead to a deep infection later on.To make matters worse, they were running into one obstacle after another—especially when they realized that the hospital had run out of Jackson’s rare blood type.A
