The Bounty

Melody briskly walked out of the brick building. It was an old building that had an undeniable serenity. The fusty nosegay of age and quietness embraced her as she walked through the environment.

There were drawings imprinted on the walls of the building, but they all seemed to have faded away along the design layers.

Despite its deteriorated state, the whole building and the environment had the peace the other world craved.

“Hey Melody,” Ramon waved at her and walked towards her.

“How's your man, uhm…Chris?” She asked without staring at him. She felt bad and didn't like how she was feeling despite being in a safe place. She tried comforting herself that all seemed to be fine, but she was merely betraying her true feelings.

“Oh, Yeah, he's getting better.” He exhaled heavily, before throwing the question he had always wanted to ask since they got the news about Jones escaping. “Why did Jones hire you as his lawyer?”
