The burly guards eyed Tyler momentarily, and a look of recognition appeared on their faces. They immediately rushed towards him.

"It's time to get lost, buddy!" Clyde scoffed. "You had a short, pathetic run. Maybe you can try to find a job in the sewage department. It seems to suit your family."

While Jennifer sniggered, the guards reached Tyler's cubicle. Instead of accosting him, they joined their hands with a thankful expression.

"Mr. Grant! You are an angel from heaven! You saved our jobs! How can we ever repay you?"

"My wife is pregnant. If I were to lose my job this month, I couldn't even support my newborn!"

A look of confusion appeared on Clyde's face. As far as he knew, many of the company's guards were about to be laid off. The financial crunch forced the HR department to take stringent measures.

But how did Tyler save them? It didn't make any sense.

"What nonsense are you blabbering, guys? Your jobs are still gone by the end of this month. There's no avoiding it! But are yo

Monarch Hall was a monument to the Douglas family’s legacy, and also the most ancient estate in Petra County. Its structures dated back to centuries of royal history. Its palatial Great Hall, usually deserted, was decorated like a bride. Over the past week, the Douglas household staff transformed it into a stage for a grand royal banquet. The High Council of Petra had spared no effort in their mission to present Princess Michelle Douglas with the world’s most eligible suitors.Chandeliers cast a golden glow over the scene while long tables stretched across the marble floor. The silk tablecloths were littered with silver platters piled high with roasted pheasant, glazed fruits, and towering cakes dusted with gold leaf. The guests were already here, clinking glasses and goblets. The low, droning chatter of the elite filled the Great Hall. They were dressed in expensive, tailored suits and jeweled gowns, everyone trying to outshine the other. This was not a regular dinner or party. It wa

  • 268 Tangled Hearts

Tyler reached the diner ahead of time. It was midday, and he had just returned from a meeting at Emperor’s Cove. Getting into and out of the disguise of Tristan Salvatore was a headache. However, it helped keep his identity secret. If people thought Tristan was the new Seraphim King, nobody would come looking for him at the Grants. His phone buzzed in his pocket. It was Isabella’s message confirming she was on her way and almost there.Tyler had barely slept the night before, thinking about their clandestine experience at the spiritual aquifer. They were naked in the hot spring, with him cultivating mystical energy. However, Isabella had almost orgasmed and wanted him to make love to her.At that juncture, Tyler had refused her, saying it was not the right time. That promise had probably given her false hope. It was the last time they had met adequately until today. The arranged marriage conspired by their parents was a fresh problem in his already chaotic life. He needed to smooth it

Tyler pulled his jacket tighter against the chilly night wind as he stepped out of his car and approached the Sapphire International Museum. His mystical energy had started returning, now that Goliath's heart was destroyed. However, he still needed a visit to the spiritual aquifer to replenish his reserves by a hundred percent.Perhaps he could use Yara? No, she was herself quite wounded in the fight with Veronica. She needed time to recover.Natalie was in Norwich City. He wasn't sure if Britta was a virgin or if she'd agree to the ritual in the first place. All he was left with was Isabella. But he hadn't talked to her in a while. Approaching her for a favor sounded insensitive. The museum building loomed ahead, its elegant stone arches and tall windows built with big money. Yellow police tape surrounded the entrance, and the faint hum of police radios crackled from somewhere nearby.A burglary had happened here at the hands of the villain Dagon. Tyler killed his lover an hour ago.

  • 266 The Prophecies

Amelia straightened, letting her playful demeanor slip away. “I know who you are, Victor.”The Mayor raised an eyebrow, fishing for meaning. “Well… As the leader of the most powerful military-industrial city, I must say that many people are familiar with me. I don’t see why you wouldn’t—”“I’m not playing games, Victor Cromwell. Or must I call you Victor Damone?”The man’s expression hardened, but he did not respond immediately.Amelia smirked slightly. “Surprised? I know the prophecy, too—the Peerless Man with a Thousand Gifts. There’s no point denying it.“The room went still. Victor stared at her for an entire minute silently. When he spoke, his voice was calm, but there was an edge to it. “What else do you know? Especially about the prophecy.”Amelia didn’t blink. “I know you’re part of the triad prophecies: The Gilded Man with a Thousand Lives, The Peerless Man with a Thousand Gifts, and Eve of a Thousand Wakes.”His fingers tapped once on the desk, a flicker of surprise crossing

  • 265 The Lieutenant Mayor

The military stronghold, Fort Cromwell, loomed over Springfield like a steel monolith. Its gray, impenetrable walls blended into the smoky sky of the industrial city. It looked like a monstrous building in a dystopian future. Amelia Briar’s car was finally allowed inside after scrutiny of her visiting papers. Apparently, Springfield’s Mayor did not allow non-citizens to enter the city without permission. After all, it was the country’s largest supplier of firearms. Inside the stronghold, the air was sharp with the tang of metal. Amelia kept reminding herself that this was a place built for war, not comfort. She stood in a sterile chamber, her arms crossed as two lady soldiers faced her. Their uniforms were crisp, and their expressions blank. “Strip,” one of them barked. “Down to nothing. We need to check for weapons.” Amelia’s lips pressed into a thin line, but she didn’t argue. She’d never get access to the Mayor without going through the security checks. The young woman shrugged

“Bingo.” Ashley’s eyes gleamed. “Mine are pretty cool if I do say so myself. I discovered them the hard way though.”Natalie was star-struck. “What are they?”“Well… I get visions—snippets of the future. They’re usually about unfortunate and horrific tragedies. And the big one?” She leaned in. “I can die and come back. Rewind time and start over. Done it several times, many of which weren’t voluntary.”Natalie stared at the woman, her mouth dry. “You’re serious? That is epic! But I can understand time travel since I know it to be possible. Tyler did it once to save Kat.”Ashley raised an eyebrow. “Oh, did he? He must have lost a great deal in the process. The men of prophecy can’t do time travel seamlessly like me. The point is, you’ve got something too. We just don’t know what yet.”Before Natalie could process that, a group of men approached—three of them. They were in crisp, expensive suits and brandished oily, perverted smiles. The leader leaned on their table, his breath heavy wi
