Chapter eighteen
“What could it be Victor?!” Frida shouted, eyes filled with tears and her heart filled with concern.The others also stared at him, waiting for his response.“Remember the old man from the safe zone?” Victor asked as he looked back at themThey all hummed and nodded in response to his question. “He spoke about an awakening mark that shows up after the body has adapted to the environment the meteor crystals created.” Victor continued." Comparing the length of the mark on Gregory's neck to what he described," Victor paused as he stretched his thumb and measured the mark.“It's about a third of the length of my thumb. That aligns with what he said.” Victor said with a bit of certainty.“But he didn't say anything about the mark glowing." Robert said, although nodding in agreement to Victor's hypothesis. Victor shrugged his shoulders, also clueless about the reason for the glow.“We'll ask Karl when we see him later." Robert said as he moved back to where he originally was sitting.“B
Chapter seventeen
Natasha and Katie returned to where the food was prepared; they didn't know what to say to Vanessa or Frida that would bring comfort. They all sat in silence, with the occasional sound of eating coming from Caleb and Robert. A while later, the pain reduced for both Victor and Gregory. They both were able to sit up, this brought a hint of joy to Vanessa and Frida. Although Robert and Caleb knew that they were not going to die from the blows they received, they were still happy that they were getting better relatively quickly. “Thank you Greg." Victor said to Gregory who also sat up. His face communicated a whole lot of emotions but his mouth did not say any other thing. Gregory tried to smile but the pain from his jaw gave a sharp reminder. " We are family Victor, you'd have done the same.” Gregory whispered, trying not to overexert his jaw. “Victor!!!" Nathan also shouted. Nathan, George and Gregory ran after Vanessa to Victor. George stood face to face with the guard that hit Victor. His eyes red with anger, his fist clenched as Gregory held him back. " What?!” The guard said as he punched Gregory on his jaw. Nathan and George, shocked by his move, also attempted to strike back. “You want to make a move?!" The guard said as he brought forward his spear, which was previously hanging on his back, threateningly. On seeing this, the other guards and members of the Goodwill family ran towards them. The guards stood together and the Goodwills gathered around Victor and Gregory who were both on the ground. Compared to the five guards standing together, the twelve members of the Goodwill family looked more menacing, not counting the two on the ground. " Caleb! Chapter fifteen
Three days went by in a flash. The routine didn't change much. Early in the morning the Goodwills had a review of the previous day, compiling things they should start doing, things they should stop doing and things they should take note of. They will then go out to search for crystals. They noticed that crystals were almost impossible to find in places they had searched the previous day, so they had to change search grounds daily. They discovered this on the second day of their search. Due to this,they did not exchange for enough food that night. At the end of the day, after it was almost dark, they returned to the camp to exchange crystal for food and cook it. During which they would renew their ‘sleeping ground’ permit. Apparently, they could keep staying in the same spot every night; they just had to ensure it was renewed before it got dark. On the first day, they found three crystals. They exchanged one for food and the remaining two were used to renew their sleeping ground

“About your superpower, how much information do you have? What exactly is your power about" Robert asked as Victor got beside him. " Well, it is a house.” Victor answered matter-of-factly. “What is a house?" Robert asked back almost instinctively " My superpower is a house. I can summon a house, you can call it a shelter too.” Victor answered. Robert stared at Victor lost in thought after hearing Victor's answer. “Don't think too far, it's not a skyscraper or anything of that sort. It's a simple house, like a bungalow." Victor quickly said as he noticed the absurd smile on Robert's face. " Okay it is a house.” Robert said as he nodded. The food was served and they ate quickly, ensuring not to choke. Water was also rationed for each person. “Eat faster George!
