“Is that all?”

The woman's voice sounded flat, but full of venom. She sat on a blood-red velvet chair, crossing her legs gracefully. The shiny black dress that covered her body contrasted with the coldness in her eyes.

Her hands were folded in front of her chest, and her lips curved into a cynical smile.

Before her, a muscular bodyguard stood stiffly, bowing deeply. In his hands, two large plastic bags filled with food seemed fragile compared to the pressure he felt.

“Yes, Mrs. Jesselyn,” he stammered. Sweat trickled down his temples. “We’ve searched three districts. This… is all we managed to get. As per—”

Crash!

A glass flew swiftly from Jesselyn’s hand, striking the bodyguard’s head with a shattering sound that deafened the ears. The liquid from the glass spread across the floor along with the glass shards, like blood on a stage.

The bodyguard jerked, his body freezing. His left hand rose to his temple, touching a small wound that was beginning to bleed. But he dared not complain.
