Jordan looked up at the soldiers, their shoulders held high with confident steps that stomped the floor. Their chests puffed out, faint smiles gracing their faces as if the world was spinning for them. Jordan's breathing stopped for a moment, then his chest felt heavy. His vision blurred for a moment, and images of the past began to flash through his mind.

He saw himself amidst the dust and smell of gunpowder, the same sound of arrogant laughter echoing in the air. His fingers gripped the edge of the table, trying to intimidate his senior.

“You're so weak!” Jordan exclaimed after successfully slamming his senior in an arm wrestling match. He laughed loudly like a madman. Then he picked up the water bottle and downed it.

With slow steps, he approached his senior who fell down beside the table. He was Bradly, the one who lost the arm wrestling match with Jordan after yelling at Jordan for calling Bradley weak.

Bradley's friends approached with burning anger, wanting to get back at Jorda

The eyes of everyone in the room simultaneously scanned Harvey from head to toe.Nothing special-no expensive watches, no sparkling jewelry.Just a plain shirt and dark pants that even looked like ordinary work clothes.Rudy snorted, his lips raised sarcastically. He crossed his arms over his chest, staring at Harvey like he was appraising cheap goods."Oi... is this the God of War?" his voice was full of mockery. "Look at his appearance-more like a factory worker than an elite soldier. No watch, no gold necklace, even his clothes are cheap. I thought a soldier of his caliber would at least know how to dress well."Marylin began to look unsteady. Her face tightened, her eyes alternating between Vanessa and Harvey. Her mind was spinning - was the man in front of her the God of War everyone had been talking about? From the looks of him, it was hard to believe. Harvey was too young, too unassuming. There was no aura of splendor like she imagined from a man with a big title."Err..." Mary

Rudy pointed at the car that had just pulled into the driveway, his laughter bursting out uncontrollably. “That... haha... that's an Impala!” His voice echoed, drawing the attention of several guests nearby. His shoulders shook as he tried to hold back his laughter.Sonar tilted her head, staring at the car with a furrowed brow. “I don't even know what an Impala is,” she said, her lips curving uncertainly. “But that car... looks really old.”Rudy laughed even harder, while several other guests began whispering to each other—both surprised and amused by the vehicle that contrasted with the luxurious party around it.Rudy could barely contain his laughter. His shoulders shook slightly as he stroked Sonar's smooth shoulder, then playfully pinched his wife's cheek. “That's right, my dear,” he said between laughs. “It's a car from the eighties. It's 2025 now. I can imagine that car going in and out of the repair shop a lot.”He leaned slightly toward Sonar, his voice dropping to a cynical,

Marylin stared at the clock on the wall, which seemed to tick slowly in her eyes. The long hand had already passed twelve, but the guest she was waiting for had not yet arrived. Her breathing was labored. She began pacing back and forth in front of the table, her steps quick and irregular.“Oh dear...” she muttered softly, almost like a worried groan. Her index finger rose to her lips, unconsciously biting her fingernail. Her face flushed red—a mixture of nervousness and annoyance.Billy, who was watching from the sofa, sighed and stood up. “Marylin, what's wrong? You look like you've lost something.”Marylin looked at Billy in panic. Her cold hand immediately grabbed her husband's wrist. “Don't you see the time? The party started an hour ago! But Vanessa and Harvey haven't shown up yet!”Billy reflexively looked down at the watch on his wrist. The short hand had already touched the number nine. His face tensed. He took out his cell phone, his thumb quickly pressing Vanessa's contact.

When Marylin said that, rhythmic footsteps were heard from the direction of the door. An elegantly dressed woman with an open shoulder cut stepped closer with a handsome man beside her. The sparkle of jewelry around her neck reflected the light from the crystal chandelier, causing several guests to glance over. The woman smiled sweetly, but there was a hint of showiness in her every movement. She was Sonar—Vanessa's cousin who had previously sent her a text message.“Auntie, I was surprised you suddenly threw a party like this,” she said, looking Marylin up and down. “My husband and I even cleared our schedules immediately.”She turned to the man who was proudly holding her arm. “Right, honey?”The handsome man Sonar was holding only smiled slightly. He pressed his lips to the rim of a crystal glass and took a sip of champagne before speaking. His gaze was cold as he glanced at his wife.“Yes. I postponed today's meeting to come here.”His tone was calm, but it contained a subtle pres

Classical music played softly throughout the Reid family home that evening, filling the air with an air of luxury. Crystal chandeliers cast a warm glow onto the marble walls, while the aroma of wine and fine food mingled in the air.Marylin stood in the center of the main room, watching the arriving guests with a satisfied smile. The small party she had planned turned out to be more like a family gala. The guests arrived dressed in their finest—some wore handmade suits and shiny Rolex watches on their wrists, while others were busy discussing stocks and new projects. From the tone of their voices and the way they laughed, it was clear who had come to socialize and who had come to show off their wealth.Marylin stepped gracefully into the middle of the room, her dress reflecting the light like the surface of sparkling water. The diamond necklace around her neck glowed softly with her every movement, as if enjoying the party too. Her earrings dangled beautifully, emphasizing the satisfi

Vanessa closed her tired eyes. She leaned back in the makeup chair, her head slightly raised, staring at the white ceiling above her. The shadows of the studio lights reflected in her half-open eyes. A day of work had left her mind in turmoil—too much dialogue, too many cameras, and now... thoughts of her mother.Without her realizing it, a man stood at the side of the dressing table, holding a makeup brush. The man was flamboyant in appearance, with thin eyeliner and shiny lip gloss that matched his silver-dyed hair. He shook his head slowly, looking at Vanessa as if he were looking at a wayward student who had just given up on life.“Vanessa,” he said, patting her hip lightly. “You know, this is still a workplace. It's not good to have that kind of expression on your face, dear. The cameras aren't off yet, but your aura has already dimmed.”Vanessa suddenly opened her eyes, startled as if she had just awakened from a long daydream. She immediately straightened up, sitting with her u
