Episode 9

Kendrick stared at Ryan who was completely silent as they drove to the police station. “Why are you roaming around the street. Are you lost?” He asked. Ryan stared at him without uttering a word. 

“You can talk to me. You don't need to be scared” Kendrick added. Ryan still wasn't replying. Kendrick sighed. He gave up and continued driving. 

They soon reached the police station and Ryan was led in. 

Ryan sat on a chair and waited a while before he was taken to an office. An officer in his mid thirties was to question him. 

“So, you were brought here for stealing from a shop?” He asked. 

Ryan didn't reply but stared at the officer emotionlessly. “You also Told the worker at the supermarket that you were looking for your father. Would you mind telling who you really are and how your father got lost?” The officer asked but still didn't get a response from Ryan.

“ I'm going to need you to give me some answers young man..” The officer stated. Ryan still wasn't interested in talking to him. 

The officer stood up in frustration. He left and soon came back with Kendrick.

“You need to speak to him or do whatever you can to make him give us answers” The officer stated. “Can you spare us time alone?” Kendrick asked. The officer nodded and left them. 

Kendrick sighed and took his seat. “You begged Noel not to call us. You don't seem to like the police at all” He said. Ryan stared into his eyes. 

“ Alright, what about an offer” Kendrick added and awaited a response. 

“What..” Ryan mumbled. “You don't have to trust anyone else. Just believe in me and I'll do everything I can to find your father. I'm the best at finding people in the station. I will find him and soon as you give me a perfect description of him” Kendrick stated. 

“That sounds like a bluff..” Ryan replied. “Alright, maybe that's truly a bluff but we'll still find him if you answer us” Kendrick stated. Ryan paused for a while, contemplating on what to do. 

“Fine. I'll answer..” He said meekly. “Alright, what is your name and how old are you?” Kendrick asked. He quickly started recording the investigation. 

“ I'm Ryan, I just turned thirteen ” Ryan replied. 

“You were caught at a supermarket stealing but you claim you were looking for your father. Would you mind telling us what happened to him” Kendrick asked. 

“I live far away from the city. My father left home days ago and our house was burned and destroyed. I left home in search of My father afterwards ” Ryan replied.

“Your House was burned. By who?” Kendrick asked. “I don't know. My mother told me to hide and..she..she was murdered by some people” Ryan said softly.

Kendrick jaw dropped in shock. “Your mother got killed?. ” He asked still in shock. Ryan nodded

“And how did you get to the city.” Kendrick asked. “I walked halfway and an old man drove me here” Ryan replied. “ An old man dropped you off. Why would someone drop a young man off without asking what is going on??” Kendrick mumbled. 

“ He asked and told me to Visit the police station but I declined” Ryan replied. “Oh, that makes sense!” Kendrick thought. 

“And you roamed around trying to find your father?” He asked. Ryan nodded in affirmation. 

“Well, that wasn't fruitful was it” Kendrick asked. Ryan shook his head. “And who were those men that tried to abduct you. How did you meet them” Kendrick asked. “I met them last night whilst searching for my Father. They abducted me and said they'll release me when my father pays ransom” Ryan replied. 

“ We'll deal with those Criminals later..” Kendrick said angrily. 

“ How did you intend on finding your father. Do have a picture or anything that could be used to identify him?” Kendrick asked. 

“I had a picture, but the men took it” Ryan Replied. Kendrick sighed. 

“What is the name of your father ” He asked. 

“Reece..” Ryan replied. “I see. And what work does he do” Kendrick asked. “I don't know. He leaves home everyday and returns late. We also have many bodyguards at our place” Ryan replied. 

Kendrick thought for a while. “You have absolutely no idea who works for too?” He asked. “He calls a man boss. His name is Mr Jacob ” Ryan replied. 

“Mr Jacob..I see” Kendrick said and wrote the name down. He suddenly paused. “Reece..Mr Jacob ” He said loudly. 

Ryan stared at him in confusion. “ It's him. This is the incident that happened lately. The house was burned and the son went missing!” Kendrick muttered. 

Ryan was completely lost. Kendrick was suddenly talking to himself and that was freaking him out. “What is the issue sir. Do you know where my Dad is” He asked. 

Kendrick stared at Ryan not sure what to tell him next. 

“This is the boy we've looking for. How do I tell him his father is dead now..” He thought to himself. “His Boss definitely killed him but no one has any evidence. Revealing who This boy is might not be a good idea too”.

Kendrick quickly went on the computer. “I need to delete this Interrogation. No one must know about him. His life is still in danger for now” He said and went through the computer in a haste. Ryan was still staring at Him completely lost. 

Kendrick successfully deleted the footage and heaved a sigh of relief. He turned to the lost Ryan, “Never tell anyone who your father is. Got that?” He asked, Ryan who nodded. 

“Do you know where my father is?” Ryan asked. “Not yet but we'll find him very soon” Kendrick replied. The door opened and the officer walked in. “Have you finished asking him the questions ”He asked Kendrick. “Yes, we're done here ” Kendrick replied. 

The officer went through the computer and was surprised when he Didn't see any footage. “Huh, you didn't record the Interrogation?” He asked. “ oh, I'm sorry. I forgot to do that. Do not worry, I have everything stored in my head” Kendrick replied and left with Ryan. 

“He forgot to record, that is quite unusual... ” The officer said as they left.
