Episode 10

Kendrick led Ryan to a new office. “Who are we here to see?” Ryan asked as they walked in. “The chief” Kendrick whispered. They walked in and took their seats. 

“So this is the boy?” The huge man on the table asked. “Yes sir. I've interrogated him too” Kendrick replied. “So, what is going on here” The chief asked. 

“He is looking for his father. I suggest we enroll him in the program till we find the father” Kendrick replied. “What!. You know that's not how it works Ken” The chief Opposed. 

“Yes sir but we..” Kendrick paused and stared at Ryan's face. He stood up, “Can I talk to you outside chief” he asked. The chief stood up and they both left leaving only Ryan in the office. 

Kendrick shut the door as soon as the Chief came out.“We don't know how long it will take to find his father. We probably might not even find him sir” Kendrick stated. “If he says he's looking for his father. We'll just investigate the case further and figure out where the father is” The Chief Opposed. 

“I already asked him all that sir and he doesn't seem to remember most of the things that happened before now. All he remember is that his father left home and hasn't returned ” Kendrick stated. “And where is his home” The chief asked. 

“He doesn't even remember that too!” Kendrick exclaimed. “Christ. This is not what I was expecting!” The chief stated. “ I'll handle everything boss. Just send him there and I'll look for his father myself ” Kendrick said. 

The door opened and the two walked in again. Ryan stared at them eager to hear what they'll say next. The chief sat down and wiped his face with a white handkerchief. 

“Since you insist on sending him there. We'll do it” The Chief said and brought out some paper. 

“Fill this little boy” He send and handed a paper to Ryan who took it and stared at it in confusion. Kendrick quickly snatched it from him. The chief stared at him. “He already told me everything about him. I'll fill it out correctly sir” Kendrick said with an awkward smile. The Chief nodded. 

Kendrick went through the paper carefully. “Name..James Ryan ” He thought as filled out the wrong information on the Paper.

He soon finished and handed it back to the Chief who collected it and glanced through it. 

“Alright. It'll be ready in an hour” The Chief stated. “Thank you so much Sir” Kendrick said and left with Ryan. “Why is he so interested in this case all of a sudden. It's concerning ” The chief thought as they left. 

*Hours later*

Ryan had ate some food Kendrick gave him and slept in a room for about thirty minutes. He seemed quite refreshed now. 

Kendrick entered the room and He sat up. “Alright, we're going to leave now” He said to him. 

“Where are we heading to?” Ryan asked. “ I'll tell you on the way” Kendrick replied. Ryan left with Kendrick and they exited the hospital. They got in his car and he drove off. 

Twenty minutes later, Kendrick stopped at a huge house, fenced and guarded by some policemen. “Where are we?” Ryan asked eagerly. “ Here's the thing Ryan, You're going to be staying here until I find your father. As soon as I leave here, I'll go looking for him immediately ” Kendrick replied. 

Ryan thought for a while. “How Long is that going to take” He asked. “I don't know for sure yet but it's surely not going to take too long. Your father should be here to pick you up soon” Kendrick said with a smile. Ryan sighed and slowly alighted from the vehicle. 

Kendrick came down too and walked him to the gate. He handed a paper to the police at the gate and turned to leave. “Take care boy. I'll check in on you to tell you how close I've gotten sometimes later” He said. Ryan nodded and was taken away by the policeman. 

The job was finally done. Kendrick heaved a sigh of relief. “This is all I can do for you Reece. I don't have the power to keep him safe anymore ” He said and headed back for his vehicle, He got in and drove off.  

Ryan stared around as he was been led in by the officer, he saw tons of children walking around. They walked to a huge building and walked in. More children were in the hall shouting and playing. 

The sight was quite confusing for Ryan. He just maintained his cool and was led to an office. The officer handed the Paper to Him. “Take it in” He said and left. Ryan stared at him as he walked away swiftly. 

He took a deep breath and knocked on the door. “You can come in” A voice said from inside. Ryan opened the door and walked in slowly. A young man was sitting and chewing gum loudly. 

"what do we have here this time" He said staring at Ryan. “Umm, hi sir. I was asked to give this to you” Ryan said and handed out the paper to him. “Just drop it over there and take a seat” The man said loudly. Ryan stared at a huge pile of papers and dropped the Paper on them. He took his seat on a chair. 

“This is going to take some time. Want a gum?” The man asked. Ryan shook his head. 

*Later that day*

Ryan spent hours in the office and finally left by noon. He was given a room number which would be his temporary room. Ryan walked around searching for his room.

After a long search, He finally found the room. Ryan opened the door and walked in. He stared around for a while. Dozen of bed bunks were arranged vertically in the entire room. 

He stared at the paper again and noticed another number written on it. “Must be the bed I'm looking for ” He thought and searched around till he finally found it. Ryan dropped his bag and rested on his bed staring at the ceiling. 

“Hi!” A voice suddenly said next to him. Ryan sat up quickly and stared at a boy, about his age. “Hi..” Ryan muttered. “Nice to meet you. I'm Cole. You're gonna have a nice time here” The boy said with a smile. 

“Yeah..” Ryan said and rested back. “ it's really nice in here. We're going to have a great time for the rest of our lives!” Cole stated. 

Ryan sat up once more. “For the rest of our lives?. How Long have you been here" Ryan asked. 

“Five... or six. I can't really remember” Coke replied chuckling vigorously. “Five weeks!?” Ryan exclaimed. “No. Five years!” Cole replied.
