Gavin struggled to squeeze through the crowd, panting a few times. It wasn't easy at all. He followed the two girls before him, noticing the receipts in their hands. They were probably heading to make a payment too. The hospital was packed today, so sticking with them would save him trouble. When they reached the payment area, they were met with several long lines.

He trailed behind the two girls to a slightly better spot, which really only meant one or two fewer people ahead of them. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a window where someone was clearly sitting, with a sign hanging next to it: "For Internal Use Only, Please Do Not Queue."

"See? Having money really makes a difference. They don't have to wait in line like us," one of the girls said, her tone a mix of envy and complaint. "Is this some kind of shareholder privilege?" Gavin chimed in, glancing at the line in front of him. The two girls turned to look at him, clearly recognizing that he was new to this hospital.

As the two of them stepped outside, theyspotted the assistant. The assistant took a glance at the person behind them and noted that they looked quite decent."Hey, who's this? It can't be that Mr. Marcus wants to meet with them, right?"The secretary shot a glance at the assistant, cursing under her breath. How many more times was she going to run into this today?Adessa remained silent. As she returned to the office, it felt like she hadn't encountered anyone who recognized her; everyone was a stranger."We're in a bit of a hurry, Miss Adessa," the secretary said, gesturing for them to move along. Adessa walked past without acknowledging him. Adessa watched them leave, spitting on the ground in frustration. It was infuriating to see such petty people getting ahead. When the chairman returned, he would see just how long they could keep this up. Just because they held a few shares didn't mean they were in charge."This is Mr. Marcus' office. Please hold on for a moment," the secretary

The secretary was unaware of Marcus's background. Suddenly, he had become the largest shareholder, threatening the current chairman's position, and she had unexpectedly found herself in a better situation because of it. Just from this one incident, it was clear that he was someone significant. She couldn't afford to be careless aboutanything he did; her job was now in someone else's hands."Mr. Marcus, understood."As the secretary stepped out with a list and a stack of documents, she collided with a familiar face, her gaze flickering slightly. She cursed under her breath, thinking, "Great, just my luck to run into him.""What did they have you doing in there? You seem to be running around quite diligently these days. Looks like being assigned to the new boss has really worked out for you," he said, his words dripping with sarcasm. She was used to his sharp remarks by now.Ever since Mr. Marcus arrived, he had been throwing cold jabs and looking for ways to provoke her. It all stemme

"But you know what? Today I heard someone at the hospital say that he's a shareholder there, and I was shocked." The lawyer said this while still thinking about the hospital, and the doctor across from him looked incredulous."No way! Someone so low-key? Professor Mark usually has a pretty high threshold; it's not easy for just anyone to get in. Even Mr. Meyer might have a hard time." Hearing the doctor's words, the lawyer nodded. That was exactly why he felt surprised. The doctor, who hadn't dealt with this family for long, still had some understanding of how appearances could be deceiving. He looked at the lawyer again. "Could it be that he's just playing the part of a simpleton? Maybe he's actually a super-rich guy who's been keeping quiet all along."The lawyer chuckled weakly at the doctor's comment. Did he really think this was some fantasy novel? No way!I've been working with this family for a long time, and I've known Thomas for several years. He simply doesn't have that kind

Kelvin was surprised at how easily he agreed. His mood was a mix of relief and lingering anxiety, as everything suddenly seemed to fall into place. He looked at Gavin and nodded. "Of course! Once you're abroad, I'll arrange for you to work at my dad's company. Don't worry, since l'm bringing you overseas, I won't let you have any worries."Hearing this, Gavin nearly jumped for joy. This solution seemed to clear up all his problems. Once he left the country, Mr. Caldwell wouldn't be able to touch him, and he didn't have to worry about his identity with Thomas. But there was one thing that still troubled him."But can we bring family members? If we can, wouldn't that complicate things a bit more?"Gavin's sudden question put Kelvin in a tough spot. The plan was to only involve Gavin; bringing family into it would be a whole different ball game."Well, that's a bit tricky. Do you think your family would support you going abroad? It might be better if you go first to get settled for six m

Gavin opened the door again and stepped inside, noticing that the place was much less crowded than before. He glanced at his phone, checking for messages, and scanned the room for familiar faces, but found none. Suddenly, he remembered something and hurried up the stairs. Just then, he bumped into a familiar figure coming down the stairs- Miss Hutton.Seeing Gavin, Miss Hutton felt a wave of relief. She had been searching for a while, and at least she hadn't let her boss down. With a relaxed smile, she greeted him. But that smile startled him. What was this woman up to?No matter what tricks she had up her sleeve, he wasn't going to fall for them. Just her earlier call at the hospital had sent chills down his spine. Logically, they should have arrived at the same time, but somehow he had gotten back here first, which meant something was off.Miss Hutton seemed to sense his thoughts andpaused her steps slightly. The situation at the hospital was a bit abrupt, and I didn't manage to gr

  • CHAPTER 225

Miss Hutton rushed into the hospital, heading straight toward her boss's direction. Feeling a bit anxious, she glanced back at him and offered a small smile."You don't need to worry so much. I won't blame you for what just happened. It was my own impulsiveness; you did nothing wrong," Thomas reassured her. He focused on the issue at hand rather than the person, and besides, Miss Hutton was acting out of urgency as a competent secretary. Hearing this, Miss Hutton let out a sigh of relief, but the memory of her boss's furious expression still sent shivers down her spine. She knew how much he despised that couple, but he had plenty of people he disliked. Among them, those two weren't even the worst.Today, however, they had crossed a line, especially Iris, who wouldn't stop talking nonsense."I think we can change our plans now. Get back in touch with the kidnappers. I'll give you their contact information shortly. We need to come up with a new strategy," he continued. Iris swallowed ha
