CHAPTER 1: HUMILIATION
It was in Lake City Hospital
Thomas Brown rushed into the hospital carrying his daughter, who was bleeding badly "Doctor! Doctor! Please, save my daughter!" A few doctors and nurses rushed out, immediately taking the child from him and taking her into the emergency room. "Wait outside!" One of them said firmly. The harsh words lingered as Thomas stood there, wearing old worn-out clothes that made him look defeated and hopeless. Click, click, click! The sound of hurried high heels echoed behind him. Thomas instinctively turned around, but before he could see who it was, a sharp perfume scent hit him, followed by a sharp slap across his face. "Thomas Brown!" Ava Bailey shouted, her eyes red with anger. "If anything happens to my daughter, I swear I will kill you!" Thomas looked shocked at the woman in front of him, his eyes filled with guilt and deep regret. Ava was stunning, the kind of woman who ignited desire in every man who laid eyes on her. She and Thomas had been college classmates. Despite her beauty and the many suitors competing for her attention, she had chosen the Broke Thomas. After graduation, they got married quickly and had a daughter, Emma Brown. However, the reality was always harsh. He also began teaching at the best elite school in Lake City. It was a job that many envied, but because he didn’t come from a rich family, Thomas faced constant humiliation. His colleagues came from wealthy families, and his students were all from prominent backgrounds. What should have been a decent salary was slashed to the point where it barely compared to that of an ordinary blue-collar worker. Yet, he dared not voice his anger, as that I was his only source of income. On the other hand, Ava Bailey was the Director at a foreign company and a well-known career woman. Her parents were also successful in their professions, making her life seem like a world apart from Thomas. In their household, Thomas felt utterly useless. His marriage to Ava only added to his problem, as her parents disapproved of him. No matter how dire their financial situation became, her parents remained indifferent, even going so far as to say that the only way they would help was if Ava divorced him and Emma Brown took on the Bailey family name. The issue between the couple intensified day by day. The emergency room door swung open. Just as Thomas was about to rush in, Ava moved even faster. She looked at Emma, whose face was half-wrapped in bandages, her heart aching. "Emma, how are you? Does it hurt?" Emma, only in fourth grade, was surprisingly mature for her age. With her big, innocent eyes, she softly replied, "Mom, I'm not in pain!" "It's just that Emma was being naughty, it has nothing to do with Dad. Please, Mom, don't fight with Dad, okay?" Ava glanced at Thomas with a complicated expression before gently nodding. "Okay! Mom won't argue with Dad. Emma, be a good girl and take care of your injury. Once you're better, I'll take you to the amusement park you've been wanting to visit!" Thomas lowered his head, his fists clenched tightly in his sleeves. The elite school where he worked comprises both elementary and high school levels. Aside from the wealthy students, an ordinary student with excellent grades could attend for free. Emma had certainly not disappointed him, she was exceptionally bright and had been admitted to the school on special consideration. He knew all too well who had bullied his daughter. It was the very students in his class! He taught the most challenging class in the school, filled with the children of the rich parents, and those who had targeted his daughter were the same students he had scolded just days before. My child is only nine years old! Thomas's heart was bleeding. His eyes were bloodshot, fists clenched and unclenched in frustration, but what could he do? Those students were the children of tycoons or high-ranking officials. What could an ordinary teacher like him possibly do? Then a nurse called out, “Your child needs to be hospitalized. Go pay the fees first!" A voice, devoid of any emotion, interrupted his thoughts. Ava Bailey shot him a cold glance, said nothing, and rushed into the ward with her child. "Hello, I'm here to pay for the hospital bill!" Thomas said, handing over his card. "There's no money on this card!" The nurse tossed it back at him without hesitation, her tone dripping with disdain. "That can't be! I just received a bonus of eight thousand yesterday!" Thomas shouted. That money was hard-earned from countless late nights spent preparing lesson plans, rewarded by the school. "Oh really? What do you mean by that?!" The nurse's voice turned sharp. "Let me tell you, I've seen plenty of people like you!" "This is a hospital, not a charity!" "If you don't have money, then don't come here! Stop acting like a big shot!" "You! How can you talk like that?" The nurse rolled her eyes. "Pay up or leave the hospital with your daughter!" Thomas took a deep breath, pulled out his phone, and called his boss. "Hello!" A voice came through the line. "Bright Wood!" Thomas's tone shifted to a more flattering one. "It's Thomas Brown!" "Oh, Tom! What's up?" "Boss, I wanted to ask about the bonuses. Didn't they get distributed yesterday? | haven't received mine. Is there a delay or something?" "Oh! About that! I forgot to mention, that everyone was happy for you. So, we all gathered yesterday to celebrate you, treating everyone with your bonus. Isn't that good?" Thomas was stunned, they used his money without asking him? And not even bother to inform me, the person involved? "Bright Wood!" Thomas struggled to keep his temper in check. "It's only right to treat everyone, but that’s eight thousand dollars surely you didn't spend it all, did you?" "Don't even get me started!" Bright voice suddenly rose. "That amount is barely enough. I covered the remaining four thousand myself. By the way, just bring me the money when you come to work tomorrow!" "Mr. Bright, I-" "Alright, I have things to do. I'm hanging up!" Turning around helplessly, Thomas found himself face to face with his wife Ava, her icy expression piercing through the silence. The sarcasm in her gaze was unmistakable. "Thomas Brown!" Her voice was cold, laced with disappointment. "You can't even pay your daughter hospital bill! What kind of man are you?" Thomas felt a sharp sting to his pride. "The doctor said she needs to be hospitalized to prevent scarring on her face. The treatment will cost about twenty- five thousand dollars!" "What? Twenty-five thousand?!" "Why doesn't he just go rob a bank?" "Are you going to stand by and watch your daughter’s face get ruined because of your in ability to pay the hospital f*e?!" Thomas was taken aback. After a long pause, he said, "Then... can you pay for the hospital bill first? I'll give you back the money when I get my paycheck from the school." "Me pay?" Ava let out a bitter laugh. "Food, electricity, water expenses... Even though our daughter doesn't pay tuition, schooling at a private school isn't free! Who do you think pays for all of that?!" "And what about you? What have you done for this family? As a teacher at a private school, you can't even bring home two thousand a month. Thomas Brown, how much more useless can you be?!" It was as if all her pent-up frustration was finally released. Ava looked at him, disappointment etched on her face and shook her head. "Are you really a man?!" Am I really a man? Thomas lowered his head, his face pale. Just as the atmosphere grew awkward, footsteps approached from a distance. Both he and Ava looked up, and Ava’s expression softened slightly as she greeted the visitor, "Scott Black, you're here!" However, Thomas's expression darkened as he stepped forward to block the two of them. "What are you doing here?" Dressed in an expensive suit, Scott exuded the air of a wealthy man. Thomas had a strong impression of him, they were college classmates. Unlike Thomas, Scott was a typical rich kid, handsome, and a cheater. Scott Black and Ava had been the envy of everyone as a couple, but after Scott's cheating was discovered by Ava, she decided to break up with him. She then ended up with Thomas, and if truth be told, Scott played a part in their eventual marriage. "It was me who called him here!" Before Scott could say anything, Ava coldly said, pushing Thomas aside and stepping up to Scott. "I need your help this time!" Scott smiled gently. "Don't worry, your problems are my problems!" I have connections with the hospital director. I'll make sure the best doctors treat Emma. As for the costs, you don't need to worry about that I'll handle everything!" "My daughter doesn't need your charity!" Thomas shouted. Scott scoffed. "Do you even have the money to pay for “your daughter’s” hospital bills?" That one sentence made Thomas's heart skip a beat. "Thomas Brown! Do you think I'm helping you? If it weren't for Ava, I wouldn't care if anything relating to you lived or died!" Ava shot him an irritated glance, then wrapped her arm around Scott. "Forget him, let's go!" Watching the two figures leaving, Thomas's expression darkened. Thomas just stood there, humiliated. It was all about money. No one cared about his effort or struggle. The whole world seemed to be laughing at him. He walked outside, took a deep breath, and finally called someone on his phone. “Hello, a voice answered. “Hey, It’s Thomas,” he said in a low voiceExpand

The person across from her paused for a moment. He had heard from a friend that this was urgent, otherwise, he wouldn't have answered the call. He didn't realize that identifying items could be such a pressing matter, and he felt a bit puzzled when he heard it was just a picture. "It's fine, just show me the item," he said. Seeing that he understood, Ava let out a sigh of relief. She pulled out her phone, opened her photo gallery, and clicked on the image before handing it over with both hands. He took the phone and examined the picture closely. To be honest, the photo wasn't very professional, but the item in it was indeed intriguing. Ava watched him closely, not feeling any dissatisfaction. He was studying it carefully, and she couldn't tell if it was out of politeness or if the item truly had significant value. After a thorough look, she confirmed it was a rare style. When she looked up, she noticed the expert's anxious expression, And he finally spoke. "From the picture you pro

"Enter the password." The information needs to be unlocked again. "Sorry, the password is incorrect." Ava realized that the number was neither her daughter’s birthday nor her own. She had tried a series of possible digits, but now her attempts were limited. What could that number be? Ava fell into silence. "What are you doing?" Thomas suddenly appeared, startling Ava so much that she quickly shoved her phone into her pocket. She looked at Thomas, whose hair was still damp from the shower, and wondered how he had come into the living room without her noticing. "You... you're done showering? Look at you, how can you just throw your clothes around? The sofa isn't a wardrobe." Ava quickly scooped up the clothes, using them to cover her pocket, trying to act as casually as possible. Thomas stared at her for several seconds, sensing something was off. He slowly spoke up, "What's going on with you?" "Um, I'm done. You should go wash up too. I'm a bit tired, and could you take those clot

The Hidden Billionaire CHAPTER 115
Grandpa was becoming more and more muddled as he aged, and his actions were downright laughable. At his age, he placed great importance on material possessions, leaving one to wonder if living long was a blessing or a curse. "You've all seen what you needed to see. If there's nothing else, you should head home early," he said, dismissing everyone. Thomas let out a sigh of relief. If the old man continued to push his luck, he would turn his party into a farce. Robison glanced at Thomas's expression and thought, "Looks like you dodged a bullet this time." He was still angry over the unresolved issues he had with Thomas, feeling as if a heavy stone was lodged in his chest. Meanwhile, Ava seemed to have been granted a reprieve. She grabbed her mother's hand and said, "Mom, let's just say a few words to Grandpa and then we can leave." Mrs. Solara had been unusually quiet all night, which was out of character for her. She couldn't stand the tension any longer, but the recent events ha

Thomas seized the moment, realizing he needed to reassess the situation. The other party's intentions were crystal clear-they were here for him. As Thomas listened to the way he spoke, the sarcastic tone was nothing like how he spoke to Robison. It reminded him of someone he didn't like, someone he was starting to genuinely resent. "Just say what you need to say. I can't stand this kind of talk. Who sent you here? Or who told you to come?" Damien scrutinized the man before him, his gaze sharp and filled with an underlying threat. This was someone whose mere presence could shake the very ground beneath everyone around him. Here was a super powerful boss, yet he insisted on playing it so low-key. It was one thing to be humble, but it seemed like someone was taking advantage of him. Damien thought Thomas was being far too patient. He couldn't understand why someone so formidable would let others walk all over him. If he had such impressive power, he should at least make it clear to ev

The Hidden Billionaire CHAPTER 113
The old man was quite advanced in age, yet he found himself surrounded by people who only added to his troubles, especially given the family he was in. He had seen his fair share of good things, and jade was indeed precious. Who wouldn't feel heartbroken if it got broken? Now, things had become even more complicated. If that useless brat, Thomas, broke it, at least he could give him a good scolding and be done with it. But if it were Iris, today's birthday celebration would leave him so angry he wouldn't be able to sleep."Hey, where did you come from, you little brat? If you don't know how to speak, just keep quiet! I was just trying to help. Why do you care? I can still touch Uriel’s stuff." Anyone who had spent time with Iris knew that ever since she married a wealthy husband, her nose had practically reached the sky. She often looked down on others, dismissing them completely, and now she was acting all flustered. Everyone knew what was going on. Thomas looked at Iris and realized

The Hidden Billionaire CHAPTER 112
Labels like "crazy," "loser," and "penniless" were all tags that had been slapped onto Thomas, and there was no changing that. They only sought pleasure from stepping on him. Thomas chose not to reveal his identity, giving them the chance to show their ugly faces. Watching their despicable expressions, he couldn't help but observe them with a mix of cold detachment and mockery. Robison and his cousins were all too eager to flaunt their wealth and status, each one trying to outdo the other. Their tones were nauseating, lacking any sense of decorum, yet they were quick to criticize others for their supposed lack of refinement. Thomas could easily slap them back with a few words, but he wasn't in the mood for that just yet."This box took me time to find," Thomas said, emphasizing the last few words. "It's an old piece, so it can't possibly be as pristine as a new item. It may look good on the outside, but it lacks the depth that comes with age." At eighty years old, he still had a fiery
