Ava looked at Thomas with annoyance. "He's not some random old man. You should be more polite, you never know, he might help us out of poverty."

Hearing Ava’s words, Thomas felt upset but didn’t say anything. He watched as Ava took out her makeup and touched up her face. He frowned and asked, “Where are you going now?”

"Mind your own business! What are you doing here in the first place? It must mean something went wrong at work. Typical useless man," she shot back. Thomas fell silent at her words.

Looking at her impatient demeanor, he couldn't shake off the thought that Ava had dressed up beautifully today. Was she going to meet someone?

But why was she being so secretive about it? With suspicion in his voice he asked, "Who exactly are you going to see?"

"What are you talking about? I'm going to see someone because of you! If you weren't such a failure, I wouldn't have to go meet another man," she snapped. Thomas' anger boiled over at her words. He never expected her to be cheating on him, he stepped closer, grabbed her shoulder, and said in a low voice. "If you go meet him, I swear I'll break your legs."

Ava pushed him off. " Ava pushed him off. “Pathetic! This is all your fault. I told you already you can’t stop me.

She walked away while Thomas stood there, fists clenched, his face hard. He refused to let her embarrass him. So, he followed her and saw her get into a car that took her to a hotel.

"Well, Ava, it seems you've been sneaking around behind my back. Just wait until I confront you about your little affair," Thomas thought as he was about to enter the hotel. Suddenly, a mocking voice came from behind him.

"Ah, isn't that my brother-in-law? What a coincidence! I didn't expect to run into you here."

He turned to see Avril, Ava’s sister, standing with a big, muscular guy. Thomas replied coldly, “Long time no see, Avril.”

"Hah!

You don't even deserve my sister don’t act like we are close,” she said with a smug smile and, Who do you think you are calling me by my name? She sneered, her red lips curling into a cold smile as she spat the most venomous words. Thomas shot her a glare, his fists clenching tightly. He could handle her insults, but he would never allow anyone to harm his daughter. The woman flinched slightly, instinctively curling up against the man beside her.

Avril pitifully said, "Babe, look at him! I only said a couple of things, and he's already trying to get angry with me. Can you see? He looks like he wants to hit me!"

The man immediately stepped forward and said, his towering height nearly matching Thomas's. He glared at Thomas and said, "You little punk, if you dare lay a hand on my woman, I won't let this go."

Seeing the pathetic figure before him filled Thomas with a sense of superiority. He smirked and replied, " Where did you see me trying to hit her? You might need to check your eyes.”

"Avril scoffed, You're just a gold digger. Let me tell you, you're not worthy of my sister. Do yourself and everyone a favor divorce my sister."

"That’s not up to you to decide. You look all good on the outside, but inside you have an ugly heart. If you have some time, you should wash that ugly face of yours, so you don't embarrass yourself out here." Hearing his words, Avril’s face turned a deep shade of red. Her finger trembled as she pointed at Thomas, unable to say a word.

All she could do was glare at him with resentment. "You little brat, my dad's

birthday is in a few days. I'm curious to see what you'll bring to win his favor, broke fool."

With that, she held her man’s hand and walked away. Thomas stared after them, his eyes dark. He didn’t even know if he wanted to go to that birthday. But he quickly remembered Ava and rushed into the hotel.

The place was cozy and romantic flowers, candles, soft lighting. It wasn’t some business place. And sure enough, he saw Ava smiling at a fat, greasy old man. As he took in the scene, Thomas's expression changed.

Seeing that, Thomas was furious and stormed over.

"Thomas?

Ava looked shocked when she saw him. She pulled him aside and whispered, “What are you doing here?”

"I should be asking you the same thing.

You're all dressed up so nicely today, are you here to meet that old man?"

Hearing Thomas's sarcastic tone, Ava felt a surge of anger bubbling inside her. She scoffed dismissively.

"Yeah, if you were capable, you'd be the one making money for us. Instead, you can't even earn a decent living, and you want to stop me from making money? I've worked so hard for this family, you have no idea how much I've sacrificed."

As he listened to her, Thomas's frown deepened. He gritted his teeth and replied, "Even so, you shouldn't compromise your dignity by associating with a man like that." Ava had been holding back her anger, but Thomas's words pushed her over the edge. She nearly screamed, "What nonsense are you talking about? I have nothing to do with him, our relationship is strictly business!"

"You're alone with a man in a private room, and this restaurant doesn't exactly scream professionalism. If you say nothing is going on between you two, who do you think will believe that?"

As Thomas spoke, Ava's frustration grew even more intense. She nearly shouted, "If my husband had even a little bit of ability, I wouldn't be here! Do you think I want to be in a place like this? I'm telling you, I don't have anything with him!"

Thomas looked at the old man and saw the creep staring at Ava’s chest. Disgusted, he stepped in front of her.

"Let go off me, she shouted. I don’t have time for this.”

“You’re coming home with me,” he said firmly.

“Are you crazy? I’ve been working on this deal for months! If you ruin this, we lose everything.”

“I don’t care! You’re coming home with me!”

Ava was furious. “Emma is sick because you can’t earn money! Do you think I like dressing like this to deal with sleazy clients?”

Thomas gave a cold laugh. “Fine. How much is the deal? I’ll get the money for you.”

She looked at him like he was joking. “Over a hundred thousand.

Thomas felt bad. Ava had been working so hard for their family. He regretted yelling but didn’t know how to say sorry. He just said, “I’ll help this time.”

Ava looked surprised for a second but shook it off. “Forget it. I’ll handle it myself. Don’t wait for me tonight, I’m not coming home.”

She walked back to the client, leaving Thomas standing there, heart heavy and full of regret.

They had already placed their orders, just like usual. However, they didn't notice a line of small text appearing at the bottom of their screen. This was where Damien started to play his tricks. Seeing that the dishes ordered were all extravagant and lacked any creativity, Damien decided to add some amusing notes to the order. Once everything was set, he unplugged the data cable. Damien hoped that the arrogant guy would appreciate the gift he was about to receive and truly enjoy his meal. After all, he hadn't forgotten how that jerk had ruined his dinner the previous night, leaving him humiliated in front of Thomas. Now that they finally had a chance to meet, it was a classic case of enemies crossing paths. Damien was determined to see who would outsmart whom. He had a mind full of schemes and mischief. If Damien didn't teach him a lesson, that guy would never know just how formidable he could be. Meanwhile, the staff received a notification about Damien’s changes. Neither side wa

As for Damien, the information they had was still too limited, and the surveillance footage hadn't revealed much, only adding to the mystery surrounding him. They could only hope that Damien was indeed his real name; that would give them a clearer direction for their investigation. The first step was to follow up on his name and license plate number, and the second was to look into his interactions with Mrs. Clair. The license plate number was a more straightforward lead, especially since these luxury vehicles often had more information hidden in their registrations. It wasn't just basic information; it could involve fixed assets or family background, and there might even be personnel records tied to it. They checked two cars, but the registered owners were completely different, with no obvious connections between them. This made Damien’s identity even more elusive. Perhaps Thomas was being too cautious. The person they were investigating certainly warranted a thorough look into. "B

The person across from her paused for a moment. He had heard from a friend that this was urgent, otherwise, he wouldn't have answered the call. He didn't realize that identifying items could be such a pressing matter, and he felt a bit puzzled when he heard it was just a picture. "It's fine, just show me the item," he said. Seeing that he understood, Ava let out a sigh of relief. She pulled out her phone, opened her photo gallery, and clicked on the image before handing it over with both hands. He took the phone and examined the picture closely. To be honest, the photo wasn't very professional, but the item in it was indeed intriguing. Ava watched him closely, not feeling any dissatisfaction. He was studying it carefully, and she couldn't tell if it was out of politeness or if the item truly had significant value. After a thorough look, she confirmed it was a rare style. When she looked up, she noticed the expert's anxious expression, And he finally spoke. "From the picture you pro

"Enter the password." The information needs to be unlocked again. "Sorry, the password is incorrect." Ava realized that the number was neither her daughter’s birthday nor her own. She had tried a series of possible digits, but now her attempts were limited. What could that number be? Ava fell into silence. "What are you doing?" Thomas suddenly appeared, startling Ava so much that she quickly shoved her phone into her pocket. She looked at Thomas, whose hair was still damp from the shower, and wondered how he had come into the living room without her noticing. "You... you're done showering? Look at you, how can you just throw your clothes around? The sofa isn't a wardrobe." Ava quickly scooped up the clothes, using them to cover her pocket, trying to act as casually as possible. Thomas stared at her for several seconds, sensing something was off. He slowly spoke up, "What's going on with you?" "Um, I'm done. You should go wash up too. I'm a bit tired, and could you take those clot

  • CHAPTER 115

Grandpa was becoming more and more muddled as he aged, and his actions were downright laughable. At his age, he placed great importance on material possessions, leaving one to wonder if living long was a blessing or a curse. "You've all seen what you needed to see. If there's nothing else, you should head home early," he said, dismissing everyone. Thomas let out a sigh of relief. If the old man continued to push his luck, he would turn his party into a farce. Robison glanced at Thomas's expression and thought, "Looks like you dodged a bullet this time." He was still angry over the unresolved issues he had with Thomas, feeling as if a heavy stone was lodged in his chest. Meanwhile, Ava seemed to have been granted a reprieve. She grabbed her mother's hand and said, "Mom, let's just say a few words to Grandpa and then we can leave." Mrs. Solara had been unusually quiet all night, which was out of character for her. She couldn't stand the tension any longer, but the recent events ha

  • CHAPTER 114

Thomas seized the moment, realizing he needed to reassess the situation. The other party's intentions were crystal clear-they were here for him. As Thomas listened to the way he spoke, the sarcastic tone was nothing like how he spoke to Robison. It reminded him of someone he didn't like, someone he was starting to genuinely resent. "Just say what you need to say. I can't stand this kind of talk. Who sent you here? Or who told you to come?" Damien scrutinized the man before him, his gaze sharp and filled with an underlying threat. This was someone whose mere presence could shake the very ground beneath everyone around him. Here was a super powerful boss, yet he insisted on playing it so low-key. It was one thing to be humble, but it seemed like someone was taking advantage of him. Damien thought Thomas was being far too patient. He couldn't understand why someone so formidable would let others walk all over him. If he had such impressive power, he should at least make it clear to ev
