Harrison dialed a number. The call connected on the first ring. “Ms. Greta,” he said calmly, though a hint of steel edged his voice. “Is there a mistake with today’s partner list? I instructed the butler to contact you yesterday.”
Janet standing close enough to overhear, let out a loud, mocking chuckle. She rolled her eyes dramatically and crossed her arms. “Who the hell is Ms. Greta? I’ve never even heard that name before.” Her lips curled in contempt. “You’re still pulling your pathetic little scams, Harrison? How embarrassing.”
David watched Harrison carefully. Something about the younger man’s calm confidence and serious expression sent a flicker of unease through him. This doesn’t feel right. He leaned closer to Janet and whispered. “Let’s get rid of him now. He snuck in with a fake VIP invitation relying on some low-level connection. If we expose him, the real boss of Diamond Global will thank us.”
Janet’s eyes lit up with malicious excitement. “You’re right.” She scanned the crowd and spotted Mr. Neil. Without hesitation, she grabbed David’s arm and strode over to him.
“Mr. Neil,” she called sweetly.
Neil turned, his lips spread into a warm smile when he saw her. “Janet, congratulations. Your company is now officially partnering with Diamond Global.”
“Thank you,” Janet replied quickly, skipping any pleasantries. Her eyes gleamed with cruel intent. “But right now, I need you to handle something for me.” She gestured toward Harrison and Mia. “Those two used fake VIP to sneak inside. David and I both witnessed it. They need to be thrown out immediately.
Neil didn’t hesitate. He believed her without question and waved over several security guards. “You see those two standing right over there?” he said, pointing directly at Harrison and Mia. “Escort them out of the banquet right now.”
The guards exchanged uneasy glances. They remembered what had happened to their colleague earlier and didn’t want to get fired as well.
“Mr. Neil, we’re not sure we should…”
Janet cut them off sharply, her voice rising. “You heard Mr. Neil’s order! He has far more authority than the manager who fire that other guard. There’s nothing to be afraid of. Throw them out!”
Reluctantly, the guards surrounded Harrison and Mia. Mia’s face paled with anxiety, her body tensing as she stepped closer to Harrison.
“You should leave quietly with the guards,” Mr. Neil told Harrison, his tone condescending as he glanced around at the watching guests. “We wouldn’t want to cause an unnecessary commotion inside here.”
Harrison remained calm, his expression unreadable. Unlike Mia who looked visibly uneasy, he met Neil’s gaze steadily. “What exactly is your position here?” He asked coolly. “How can you arbitrarily expel guests who have valid invitations? Do you think Diamond Global belongs to you?”
Harrison was already pissed at him for granting access to Janet and David who he had instructed not to be inside the ball, and now he was here with guards to send him out when he thought the matter was already settled.
Neil’s brows snapped together in anger. He looked Harrison up and down with open disdain, sneering at his simple outfit. “I am a long-time senior manager at Diamond Global.” He snapped, voice dripping with arrogance. “I also own 0.1% of the shares. Getting rid of a nobody like you is as easy as crushing an ant.” He turned to the guards and shouted. “Throw them out immediately.”
The guards moved forward, just then, the host picked up the microphone again and loudly announced. “Excuse me, everyone. I’ve just received an update. There had been corrections to the partner list.”
All heads snapped toward the stage. The guards froze. Janet and Mia stare intently, their heart pounding.
“The final partner company has been corrected,” the host announced clearly.”It is Torres Enterprise.” A stunned silence fell over the hall.
“What?” Janet’s face twisted in confusion and disbelief.
Mia’s eyes widened dramatically. The words sank in, and pure joy exploded across her face. She let out a breathless gasp and instinctively grabbed Harrison’s hand, intertwining their fingers tightly. Harrison’s entire body went rigid at the sudden warm contact.
A shiver ran down his spine. He stared at her, stunned at how such a simple touch affected him so deeply.
“My company… We’re the third partner.” Mia whispered, her voice trembling with excitement, Her cheek flushed pink, her eyes sparkled, and a radiant smile curved her lips.
Janet shook her head violently, refusing to believe it. “How is that possible?” She glared from Mia to the host, then to Harrison. “They just announced that Edward Group as their partner. How could the list change?”
Her brows creased with rage. She whirled on Mr. Neil. “Didn’t you say you had insider information?” She snapped at him. “How could the partner suddenly change like this?”
Mr. Neil looked equally stunned, blinking rapidly in confusion. “That’s impossible… I saw your company’s name on the list myself.”
Janet couldn’t take it, her composure shattered. She screamed at the top of her lungs, drawing every eye in the hall. “The host is lying!” She pointed accusingly at Harrison. “He bribed the host! That’s why the list changed!”
David immediately jumped in. “Exactly. How can you change a partner after it’s already been announced? You clearly took money to fake the results!”
Shocked murmurs and whispers filled the room. The host’s eyes filled with tears as he desperately tried to defend himself. “I didn’t take any bribe! There was an amended list. It was a simple mistake with the earlier announcement. This is the correct one!”
“It’s a lie,” Janet shrieked. “I don’t believe you!” she turned to Neil. “Tell them the truth! You saw the original list!”
Neil nodded and joined the accusation, his face flushed with anger and embarrassment.
Janet turned angrily toward Mia and Harrison. “Guards, throw these two out right now. They entered with fake VIP invitation, and now they’ve bribed the host to manipulate the partner list.”
She turned to Neil again, her voice venomous. “As manager of Diamond Global, you should blacklist Torres Enterprise immediately, and never cooperate with them again.”
Mia stepped forward, her brows furrowed with distress. “What are you saying? We didn’t bribe anyone! The announcement is real…”
“Shut up, you liar!” Janet snapped viciously. Mia pressed her lips together, she could see people eyes on her, already judging.
“Guards, throw them out now!” Janet ordered the guards to act. The guards moved in again, reaching for Harrison and Mia.
“Stop!” A powerful, authoritative voice rang out across the hall.
Ms. Greta strode forward, her presence commanding silence. “Torres Enterprise is indeed the final partner company.”

David drew a sharp breath of relief when he saw it was only Harrison who had stepped inside. He straightened his shoulders and looked Harrisons straight in the eye. Instead of explaining himself, he twisted the question back at him.“What am I doing here?” David scoffed. “Maybe I should ask you the same question. You walk in here like it’s your office, but look at you, you work as a servant in this house just like every other servants. No wonder you were able to get close to President Greta. A fraud and a blackmailer, that’s what you are, you threaten people and hide the truth so no one would see who you really are. One day someone will expose you.”Harrison’s face darkened. “Watch your mouth, you’re in here, yet you have the guts to run your mouth?” Harrison ran a finger through his hair. “You don’t even know anything about me.”“I know enough.” David shot back. “You pushed people around and act clean while you dig into other people’s business. You’re no better than the men you prete

David parked his car a short distance from the large iron gates of the Hayes mansion. He took a deep breath and fixed a polite smile on his face, adjusting his shirt as he looked at the car mirror.“We are doing this for Janet, David,” he muttered, taking a deep breath. “Let’s do it right.” He encouraged himself.Today he was not coming as an outsider to the Hayes mansion, he was coming as the son of his mother who worked here. His mother had served the Hayes family for many years. And she managed the household staff of the Hayes family, and that was his cover. He had made promises to Janet, and since she needed his help for her business, he would do anything to make her get the contract at Diamond Global. The only way he saw to get it was through pressure and the Hayes family had close ties to Diamond Global run by President Greta.David believed that somewhere inside this house there would be papers or secret he could use. If he found something damaging, he could force President Gre

Harrison’s brows snapped together. “I don’t care what you think of me,” he said coldly. “She told you to leave her alone, so that’s enough, leave.”Roy took a step closer, chest out, arrogance pouring off him. “Or what?” he asked. “You’ll fight me in the middle of the street?” He spread out his hand. “Don’t embarrass yourself. A guy like you doesn’t belong next to a woman like her. Mia needs someone who can actually stand at her level, not some broke outsider hoping for free money.”Mia stepped in front of Harrison, facing her ex-boyfriend. “Listen carefully,” she said. “Whatever we had is finished. It died the day you walked away from my life.”“This man,” she pointed at Harrison. “He is the one who treated me with respect when no one else did. You don’t get to come back now and insult him. You don’t get to touch me, you should leave now.” She pointed at the street.Roy’s smile flattered, and his brows furrowed. “You can’t be serious.” he said, staring at her in anger. “After everyth

Harrison and Mia went to a cafeteria a few miles from Mia’s place, they sat by the window and ordered coffee and sandwich.“What happened to you?” Mia asked after staring at his face for a while, it was faint but she could still see few bruises on his face.“I am fine.” Harrison assured her, but she shook her head.“Janet and David came to my office last night, they said you were at the hospital, I was so worried, I checked the internet but there was no accident that happened at the country side, and I tried calling you multiple times but there was no response, I couldn’t sit still and---“Harrison quickly reached over the table and held her hand, she paused her lips as he squeezed it tenderly and met her gaze.“I am here, see…” he said softly and tilted his head. “I’m right in front of you, I’m good.” He added and she closed her eyes and breathed a sigh of relief.Mia opened her eyes again. “Janet and David made it seem like you were badly hurt, and I began regretting not taking your
