Chapter 1

In a small alley of Blackwood City, within one of the neatly arranged old wooden houses.

“Darling, breakfast is ready.” Alex happily prepared breakfast for his wife.

“It is your favourite bacon. I woke up early to prepare it. Let's enjoy it together before heading to work."

His wife didn't respond from their bedroom.

Alex placed the delicious-smelling bacon on the table and found her sitting on the edge of the bed. She was still in her pajamas, with a cold look on her face.

“Are you okay, honey?”

"No, I'm not." His wife said, "“Alexander, I want a divorce."

"

“W-What?” Alex thought he was hallucinating.

And the breakfast he had prepared for Merly fell to the ground with a loud noise.

"You heard me right! I want you out of the picture. It’s OVER!"

Merly’s voice was cold as ice, but her eyes were burning.

She looked extremely angry.

"I-Is this a joke?" Alex asked, his voice trembling, "Tomorrow is our first wedding anniversary."

He walked up to her, trying to figure out if there was something wrong.

"Don’t come near me!" she screamed, while backing away, as if the nearer Alex was, the more disgusted she felt.

Alex stopped dead. “B-But ... I don’t understand.”

However, Merly didn’t answer.

Instead, she took out beautifully wrapped box.

"Is this what you bought me?” Merly asked calmly, but Alex seemed to sense the suppressed anger in her voice

There, in the box, was a handbag.

“You found it? It’s the anniversary gift, I wanted to give you as a surprise.”

“It’s our anniversary, you just bought me a fxklng 3000 dollars cheap bag?!”

She threw it at Alex’s face with hatred.

“A ‘cheap’ bag?”

Alex purchased it with three months' worth of his salary, avoiding spending anything for himself, all for the sake of his wife.

"Merly, I promise I worked really hard and spent all I have at the moment to get the bag for you. If you want anything more, just name it, I will buy it for you tomorrow."

“Oh, stop it! TOMORROW is never coming!”

Merly eyes pierced Alex with disdain. “Admit it, Alex. You have nothing, while others swim in wealth!"

"Why can't you be rich like them? Why do you have to drag me into this life of poverty with you? I want a big mansion. I want my closet filled with cc jewels. I don’t want your cheap stuffs anymore."

"Merly Luxenberg, it’s our anniversary tomorrow, just wait till then, alright? I’ll give you everything I have," Alex felt the pain.

All he did was love, yet now he is branded a tormenting wife monster.

"I've had enough of you," she retorted, getting on her feet.

“You know what? Every minute spent with you makes me sick to my stomach," she added.

Alex sighed heavily.

He was the Supreme Commander of the Archelion Empire Military.

As the first in line to the throne, he adhered to the Archelion family tradition, where a lion's cub must prove his worth in the wilderness before claiming his empire.

He must survive independently without revealing his true identity, or accessing his inheritance while living among the normal citizens.

Only after the first anniversary could he then reveal his true identity.

Their first anniversary was sadly just a few hours away.

Merly stood at the door, her attire flawless, her eyes blazing with fury.

"Let’s go."

"Where?" Alex startled.

“To the government agency, to file for our divorce,” she commanded harshly. “Now!”

Merly’s seriousness cuts through Alex like a blade.

Inhaling deeply, and as if making a final decision, Alex pulled the drawer and took out a beautifull wrapped but smaller box.

“Listen, Merly. Tomorrow is our wedding anniversary. This is the real gift. I should have given it to you tomorrow as a surprise. But I think it’s wise if I give it to you now. Open it and take a look. You won’t regret it, I promise.”

“Haha, another of your empty promises! What kind of surprise can a piece of trash give me, huh?” Merlyn laughed until tears streamed down her face. “I know, I know, a TRASH GIFT!”

With that said, she suddenly snatched the box and hurled it out the door.

With a scornful gesture, she shook her head as she walked out.

"I don't want trash in my life, just like I don't want you in it."
