The man was shaking like a baby. Even Riley didn't know why a full-arsed grown man would be behaving in such a manner.
'Huh? Is this one of the fearless leaders of the underworld?" He thought.
Right after his poverty program, he didn't realize that his details and pictures had been sent to most of the powerful groups in the city.
Even though the man who was shivering before him wasn't part of this category, he had gotten hold of the news.
And whoever Riley was, he was not to be offended.
The rest of the team, seeing how afraid their leader was of the person that was standing right before them, soon fell to their feet.
"Please forgive us, sir." They all pleaded while everyone remained speechless at the sight that lay before them.
Carter soon snapped out from his gaze with a tilt of fury written all over his face.
"And what do you think that you are doing? Have you all gone mad?" He thundered out of his frustration.
"I brought you guys up to teach this man a lesson and what do you do? You worship him?"
The leader of the gang frowned deeply.
"When you brought us you told us that you were going to go up against nobody and what do you do, bring someone like him to ruin our lives?" He glared.
Carter was still stunned. He had already run a few background checks on Riley just a few moments ago and he was certain that he was an absolute nobody.
"Whatever has gotten into your head. I already paid you and you are going to do the job that you have been paid for or you are not going to like yourself." He noted
Don frowned deeply. If there was anything that he hated most, it was being threatened by anyone.
With his hands clenched and his tongue tied to the roof of his mouth, he was able to control the fury that was rising in him and he said.
"I am going to ignore you only because of the position that your father holds. However, if you decide to pursue this case further, be assured that even the almighty Linton's family would cease to exist." He assured me.
Carter was lost at these words. The group was already leaving.
Carter could feel the piercing gaze from the crowd coming after him from behind. He was way beyond embarrassed.
If he allowed these people to leave just like that without giving Riley the lesson that he deserves, he would never be able to raise his head high up in school ever again.
He stopped right before them with his hands spread wide open.
"You aren't going to leave this place until you do as I have said."
"Get out of our way Ruth at this moment." Don glared.
"So what if I don't?"
Carter was assured that Don would not dare to lay a single finger on him. Of course, he was the heir of the Almighty Linton family.
Don tried to move along ignoring Carter however, Carter held his hands firmly.
Most of the students stood without saying anything. This was a fight against two powerful groups and they could easily be smashed together with their families with just a few words.
Don could not contain his anger anymore and ordering his men, Carter was beaten up several times.
Most people were still lost in a daze while others were already running away from the place to avoid the troubles that would soon be coming right after them.
Carter was beaten to a pulp and Riley didn't say another word. When he was done, they left Carter bleeding on the floor.
Jane froze from her position, yelling at the top of her voice.
"Look at what you have done, silly bitch. But know that when the Linton's family come running after you, the ground will not be able to contain you."
She didn't say many words and Carter was taken into the ambulance.
At this moment, Claire who already had tears flowing down the corner of her eyes turned to Riley.
"How! How!"
Riley already knew the question that was longing in her heart as he went ahead to answer the question that had been longing in her mind, together with most of the crowd who were also eager to hear the answer to this question.
"I don't know." He answered genuinely. This is the first time that I have seen this man."
Most people in the crowd hissed.
"I should have known it right from the very beginning. How could Riley know someone who was that powerful when he was nothing other than an Errand boy? I am so sure that they must have mistaken him for someone else."
With these words and obvious disappointment on their faces, they gradually began to walk away from the place.
Claire however wasn't disappointed. She still has a great look of gratitude on her face.
"Thanks for standing up for me back then. I don't know what Carter would have done to me tonight if you had not stood in for me." She mentioned.
Saying these words made her face grow red and she shifted her head to hide this away from Riley who had only been with a lady for two months.
"Haha! There is nothing to thank me about."
"Huh? I don't think that you realize what you have done for me today." Said Claire.
"I am going to feel guilty forever if I don't appreciate you properly. Why don't I treat you to dinner this weekend." She smiled.
Riley wanted to object. However, she was firm with her decision after which she walked away from the place.
Once again, Riley was left alone again.
"There you are. I thought that you had gone back to crying once again." Riley heard a voice calling from being.
It was Fred and Eddie and they had broad smiles on their faces. He was also happy to see them.
Just as they were about to start chatting, they heard the whistle go off and it was time for the match to begin.
"Quick. We have to get seated already. If we miss any of the events, Karl is going to be furious." He said and they walked away.
-----------
Karl had his sleeveless basketball shirt over his shoulders revealing his bicep.
"Did you see that? My team. We made it to the tournament." Karl was overjoyous that he had finally made it for the first time in years.
"Yeah yeah! You've said that quite a couple of times already." Eddie said.
Even with these words, he kept on singing it to their hearings and Riley could not help but smile. He was also happy that his friend had gotten what he had always craved for and worked hard for over the years.
It made him wonder if he would be able to meet up with the task that he had already been saddled with.
Looking at the smiles on their faces, he felt a warmth in his heart. It was one of the reasons why he wanted to keep a low profile.
This was one of the handful of people who treated him like the human that he was. He only had a few times to spend with them before his life would turn erratic and he was determined to enjoy the moment to the fullest.
"I was so excited that I almost forgot." Karl stopped and got three tickets from his backpack handling it over to each one of them.
They stared at the tickets that they had been given with confused expressions written all over their faces.
They knew movie tickets and these were neither of them.
"Are you planning to throw a party just because of a small win Karl?" Eddie inquired.
"Nah. That's an invitation. My."
Before he could finish his statement, they could hear someone yelling from behind with steady footsteps approaching them.
"Babe! Babe!" A stunning lady that came calling was in full view at the moment.
They were confused for a while. Since the only person that was supposed to be in a relationship was Riley his girlfriend had already broken up with him.
Coming closer now, it was evident that her gaze was all focused on Karl at that moment
They were still lost in the realms of their confusion since Karl had not told them anything about getting a girl.
'Could it be that she was suddenly interested in seeing his hot body and his wonderful performance?' Eddie thought.
"If I was Karl, I would have gone for it alright. This is a lifetime opportunity you know. It's not every day that you get a stunning lady wooing you." Fred thought while was Riley, he watched calmly.
"Babe! I have been searching all over for you after the match. Where did you head to?" Inquired Karl.
"Babe?" The trio exclaimed at this same time.

Riley looked at Rossline for a moment before scoffing. "You are his girlfriend. You're supposed to know his character and how bad it is."Rossline sighed and glanced toward the classroom where Nearl had disappeared. "I was surprised too. When we first met, he seemed gentle and polite. I never expected him to become like this."Riley scoffed again, folding his arms. "He hid it well enough”Rossline remained silent for a moment before looking directly at him. Then, almost casually, she asked, "Do you think he is the owner of this school? The secret owner of this school?"Riley's expression changed slightly. He stared at her. "I doubt that. What makes you really think that?"Rossline simply smiled."Nothing."Riley frowned. "Nothing?""We'll talk later." Rossline paused before adding, "And thanks for the other day."Before Riley could ask what she meant, she turned around and walked away.Riley watched her leave, his brows slightly furrowed. "Why would Rossline think Nearl is the secret

Riley stepped forward until he stood directly before Principal Paul. His voice was calm, but it carried clearly across the silent sports hall."Principal Paul... I just saw you smuggle the paddle Nearl used during the final out of the arena."For a heartbeat—No one reacted. Then the entire hall erupted into stunned murmurs."What?""Smuggle the paddle?""What does he mean?""Did I hear that right?"Students looked at one another in complete confusion, while the teachers exchanged puzzled glances. Principal Paul's expression darkened."What the hell are you talking about?" he demanded sharply. "Smuggle Nearl's paddle? Explain yourself."Without saying another word, Riley slowly raised his hand and pointed toward the student volunteer who had almost reached the exit."The paddle is inside that black sack."The volunteer froze in place. His eyes widened in surprise as every person inside the arena turned to look at him."I... I..."He instinctively tightened his grip on the sack, unsure

Claire brushed her hair back with a trembling hand as she heard Riley accept the challenge. Her heart sank. She couldn't believe he had actually said yes.Jerry stared at Riley for a few seconds before a grin slowly spread across his face."I like your courage," he said with a chuckle. "But sadly... it's going to make you a cripple."The smile on his face grew even wider."Since you're this desperate, let's make it an official spar."Those words immediately caught everyone's attention. Even the students who had gathered nearby leaned in with curiosity.Riley frowned slightly."Official?" he asked. "What do you mean by official?"Jerry slipped both hands into his pockets."Actually," he began with a relaxed smile, "there's an underground tournament held every night."He glanced around before continuing."It's not legal, of course. People usually go there to place bets... or simply watch for entertainment. That's where I'd like to cripple you."Fred's expression instantly became more se

This has nothing to do with you."Riley's expression didn't change."It has everything to do with me," he replied calmly as he looked at Jerry's hand gripping Claire's wrist. "You're cornering my friend. Let her go right now."Jerry glanced at Claire before looking back at Riley.A cold laugh escaped his mouth."You really must need another beating.
Chapter 140
Monday morning arrived.Riley stood at the front gate of the school, looking up at the familiar campus. The bruises on his face had faded considerably over the past few days. "Riley!"A familiar voice called excitedly from behind him.He turned around just as Mira hurried over, her school bag bouncing against her shoulder."There you are!" she exclaimed before stopping in front of him. She frowned almost immediately. "How did you leave the hospital without telling anyone? And where did you even go? I came to visit you yesterday, and the nurse said you'd already been discharged."Riley scratched the back of his head with an embarrassed smile. "Sorry. I was discharged earlier than expected. I just went to visit one of my relatives. He was dying to see me."Mira let out a long sigh and folded her arms."You should have called me. You didn't even come work, and you didn't answer any messages. I was worried.""Sorry," Riley said sincerely. Mira looked him up and down before her expressio
