Silas stood on the circular platform in the center of the giant obsidian archway. He was inside the DNA Resonance Scanner. “Commencing resonance scan,” the cold, automated computer voice announced. Silas closed his solid black eyes. He prepared to use his “Absolute Zero” state. He wanted to drop his heart rate and turn his body into a freezing void, hoping to hide his true power from the machine. But as the scanning began, Silas realized a terrible truth. The machine did not use normal lasers. It used golden lasers made of pure, liquid "Ichor-Gold." The same golden fluid that had kept his original bone alive for three hundred years. The golden lasers shot out from the sides of the archway. They did not just scan his skin. They pierced right through his marble-white flesh. They sliced directly into his dark, tungsten-dense bones. The pain was incredibly intense.
