1: the awakening of the chosen

Screams are heard in the streets.

The screams tell of the terror of the people because of the unknown that was coming to our world.

My family and I were at the mall when all this happened, and unfortunately, now, only my younger sister and I are left, trying to survive no matter what because we didn't want to let the unknown take us too Just as he did with the other people around us.

My younger sister, Sasha, hurt her right leg just when we had to run from the main entrance of the shopping center to seek refuge in my parents' car. Luckily, I had the keys in my pocket, my jacket, I always did it like that.

My mother let me because even though I was seventeen, the idea of keeping the keys to my mother's car was satisfying to me, it was like taking on a great responsibility that was totally different from having to take care of my younger sister every time. My mother couldn't take care of us both because of her hard work as a waitress in a cafeteria that was based in the most important shopping and tourist center in the city.

“Henry, where is mom? “Will she come looking for us soon?” Sasha asked curiously and innocently, her childish mind now closed to having to easily understand everything that was happening in the world at this very moment. Of the two of us, I was the one who understood things easier, and I didn't really know how to explain this event to her.

“Calm down, you don't have to be afraid, we are both together, that's what matters. Mom has to be somewhere looking for us. But, for now, we will stay here, and wait for her to find us, if not, I promise I will start her car, and we will look for her, okay?” I responded to my sister. Although I must admit one thing: just like her, I was also scared shitless.

My little sister nodded, looking at me with those innocent eyes that melted anyone who stared at them as if they were a very effective hypnosis charm. My sister and I were inside the car, we settled together in the back, which was the widest part of the vehicle, and when we remained silent, I decided that it was time to review the severity of her injury. Luckily, she was wearing one of her dresses, so I didn't have to make her uncomfortable by asking her to take off her pants, so I could better see her injury.

His leg did not stop bleeding from the beginning of the knee, it was dirty with dirt, because he had fallen on the ground, and since the previous night it had rained heavily, the ground at this moment was wet, there was mud all over it. Everywhere, and therefore, the wet ground was clearly going to ruin our good personal presentation.

Boom! Boom!

Tazz! Tazz!

[System activated!]

Survivor mode activated… 1%…2%… 3%…

A robotic voice of a woman began to speak to me in my mind. It sounded like an echo that reverberated loudly off the walls. A countdown counting in reverse order appeared out of nowhere. And that ringing, that strange and annoying ringing that echoes in my ears over and over again has given me an intense headache that not even a simple pill was going to be able to soothe so easily.

"Henry? Are you OK?" I hear my sister say, now, she was the one who cared about me.

I was worried about myself, too. What the hell was happening to me? What were those voices I hear speaking in my mind? Why did my head hurt so bad? There were many unanswered questions.

Suddenly, my body begins to feel a strange energy take over every part of its being. I felt as if a current of heavy, strong water was running through each of my blood veins. What was happening to me? I didn't know. But soon I realized that my clothes were no longer the same as before, they had changed; I no longer wore those dark gray jeans that my mother hated me wearing so much and that I loved because they were one of my most comfortable jeans for going out. I was no longer wearing my favorite t-shirt that had the Iron Man logo printed on it. Just as I was no longer wearing my brown boots.

Now, my clothing was a black leather armored suit. It contained black leather jeans, a black leather jacket, and black leather shoes. The entire suit was like that of a spy who needed to stay hidden from any emerging threat.

My body was transformed, I was no longer that boy with strength and weak build, now, I had a glorious body, an athlete's body, because my biceps grew in my arms, my height stopped being 1.54 centimeters to pass to be 1.85 centimeters. When I felt like I grew up, my head hit the roof of my mother's car because this was nothing more than a low car, it was a small car, it wasn't a truck, so the hit on my head hurt more than my own transformation.

“Ouch, but what is all this shit?” I said, while my hand caressed the top of my head, seeking to calm the burning of the blow a little. My sister looked at me in amazement, more than in horror, like any normal person should do in a similar situation.

I had to get out of my mother's car because, inside it, I felt like I couldn't really find the right place to stand. Out there, I realized the reality; my body had been chosen to acquire a precious superpower activation system, which would turn any weak and ordinary person into a kind of superhero.

It seems that what I had read on the internet a couple of months ago was true about a conspiracy theory that justified that the world would soon come to an end, this would begin with the post-apocalypse, and then the day of final judgment would arrive. . We would all witness how the world, little by little, would end up becoming extinct, and some, like in my case, would witness a fantastic change in their bodies that would give them unique abilities to survive, and at the end of the day, they would receive a jackpot before it was finally all over.

I must confess one thing; All of this is giving me a lot of chills, since in reality, no one knew exactly how it would all end.
