4. Teaming Up [I]

"Ryan saw that Ember Fox had picked up all the gold coins, but he didn't say anything. Rather, he nodded to Ember Dragon and and shared the attributes of the two pieces of equipment with them.

Ember Dragon  and his companions were greatly disappointed upon seeing the loot; they had only gotten two pieces of equipment they couldn't use, making their efforts all for nothing. However, at least they had some gold coins, enough to cover their potion costs. 

Ember Dragon smiled calmly and said, "Friend, since you're the one using the equipment, there's no reason for arguments. But the gold coins are ours; after all, you didn't kill the boss alone."

"Alright, you can keep the gold coins." Ryan hadn't wanted the gold coins anyway. If he could get two good pieces of equipment, he wouldn't have to worry about not getting more gold coins in the future.

"Damn not. What about me?" Teagan refused to compromise. He hadn't gotten anything, so how could he just stand by and watch the gold coins go to this Ember Clan?

"There's no way I'm giving any ro you. But you can come and take it if you dare!" Ember Fox glared at Teagan with her big round eyes and shouted, as if she was deliberately trying to provoke him.

"Hey..." Teagan was about to explode in anger, but Ryan stopped him, "Forget it, it's just a few gold coins."

Upon seeing Ryan's tone, Teagan remained silent, though he was inwardly furious.

At this moment, Ember Dragon said. "Hey friend, why don't we team up?"

"Yea, let's form a team." Ryan and Teagan exchanged glances, thinking that three mages could already level up very quickly as a team, so why did they need to form another team?

"Yes, teaming up to fight monsters will level us up faster. Look, there are still quite a few monsters around here, but right now there are only a few of us left. It'll take forever to clear them all out. So, let's just team up." The Ember Dragon had his own plan. His family were all mages, so their leveling speed should already be quite fast. However, they had a trump card skill they hadn't used yet: Fire Wall.

It could burn a large area of ​​monsters, but only if someone could lure them. Lure monsters wasn't an easy task; it was especially dangerous for mages, as being even a step too slow could result in instant death. But if a warrior was hired to lure the monsters, it would be much safer. Therefore, he wanted to bring Ryan into the team and have him take on the task of luring the monsters.

Ryan, of course, had no idea of ​​the Ember Dragon's intentions. He knew that teaming up to fight monsters would increase their speed, so he agreed without a second thought.

Ember Dragon immediately pulled Ryan and Teagan into the group. Ember Dragon then said, "Brother Ryan, we are going to set fire to the monsters now. How about you lure the monsters? The more the better."

Ryan then suddenly realized that it was no wonder he wanted to team up with me. It turned out he wanted him to lure monsters as bait because he had high defense and was not easy to die when luring monsters.

"Okay, but what are you going to do?" Ryan didn't understand how the Ember Dragon burned monsters.

"We have a skill called Fire Wall, which can cast fire over a large area, making it perfect for burning large numbers of monsters."

"Oh, I see. Okay then, I'll go lure the monsters." Ryan didn't think too much about it, prepared his red potion, and plunged into the monster horde, attracting countless skeleton spearmen to run back. He lured dozens of them in one go. 

Luring monsters didn't require much skill for a warrior; just watching one's own health was enough. So, Ryan lured them with ease.

The three members of the Ember Clan spread out, forming a triangle. As a large number of monsters entered the encirclement, the three of them cast Fire Wall spells.

Instantly, raging flames erupted. Dozens of skeleton spearmen screamed as they were engulfed in the inferno. The Fire Wall spell, a continuous damage skill, sent damage numbers flying everywhere. Although the skeleton spearmen stepped into the Fire Wall and their aggro shifted to the three mages, they fell one after another before they could even reach their targets, turning into piles of bones.

As soon as the monsters were burned, Ryan and Teagan leveled up, gaining a huge amount of experience, which made them both extremely happy. Teagan couldn't bear to let Ryan risk luring the monsters by himself, so he helped him. Although his class was equipped with leather armor with low defense, his skills were decent, and he never put himself in any real danger.

So, two people lured the monsters, and three people set up fire walls to burn them down. It took a full two hours to clear out all the skeleton spearmen on the first floor.

Ember Dragon and Ember Fox reached level 15, while Ember Tiger reached level 14. Ryan and Teagan also reached level 14 one after another, and it felt absolutely amazing.

Next, they started cleaning up the battlefield. There were piles of copper coins and countless green items. Since they were all low-level green items, no one fought over them. Whoever wanted them could take them, and those that couldn't be used were thrown into their bags and sent back to town to sell to the shop.

"We're heading back to the city. Are you going back too?" Ember Dragon asked Ryan.

"Not going to grind anymore?" Ryan was in high spirits and was even thinking of going to the second floor with them.

"No, we're going back to town to learn skills, and then go farm goblins."

"Goblin! What level?"

"Level 18."

"Green-named monster?"

"Yes. Are you interested?"

Ryan and Teagan exchanged a glance, their expressions hesitant. They were thinking of going to the second floor to grind, but seeing that the Ember Dragon was preparing to move his base, they didn't want to stop him. Ryan said, "If we go, won't we be in your way?"

"How could that be? We're friends now, so why would we need to trouble you? If you're going, let's go back to the city together and travel together." Ember Dragon was very willing to make friends and extended a sincere invitation to Ryan and Teagan to stay in their group.

"Hey, Ryan, what are you thinking? We can farm the monsters on the second floor on our own, can't we?" Teagan really didn't want to leave. This place was so great for leveling up, especially teaming up with three mages to burn monsters.

At this moment, Ember Fox said, "The second floor? Yea, it's a good place, but there are also a lot of people there. If you don't believe me, go in and take a look. I bet you won't even be able to kill a single monster after two hours inside."

"Really? I'll just go in and take a look then." Teagan turned around and slipped into the second floor. A short while later, he came running out again, shouting in surprise, "Damn, there are more people than monsters! The girl wasn't lying to us. I think we should go with them and go back to town to buy some potions or something."

"Alright, let's go back to the city then." Ryan nodded in agreement, took out a return scroll, crushed it, and went back to the city.
