Chapter 1: Humiliation

Killian was silent for a moment as the door to Julietta's office swung open. A man of about 28 years old was sitting casually on the sofa next to his wife while wrapping his left arm around Julietta's shoulder. He seemed to be whispering something into her ear.

The man wore a luxurious outfit made by Armani Collection, light brown and brown loafers. It looked very harmonious with the clothes he was wearing.

On his wrist was a Taghheuer luxury watch, estimated to cost EUR 3,000.

On his ring finger, there was also a neat-looking large ring like FDDB1337VB, estimated to be between 2,000 to 3,000 EUR or so.

"Julietta, what are you doing? Who is he?" asked Killian frantically.

"Hey... hey... hey... What the hell are you? How dare you come into this room. Get your ass out!" snapped the parlour man in a booming voice.

"Who are you?"

"Who the fuck are you? Damn it! Julietta and I were trying to have some fun, and you interrupted us," he continued with a disdainful look.

"Killian! What a coincidence that you're here. This is Mr Robert, my future husband. After we divorce, I will marry him," Julietta replied confidently and without feeling guilty.

"When did I say I was divorcing you? Never," Killian snapped, continuing to glance at Robert.

"You get out of my wife's room! She's my legal wife. How dare you disturb her," Killian snapped at Robert as he clenched his fists tightly and stepped towards his wife's intruder.

PLUCK...

Suddenly the sound of a slap rang out loudly in the room, accompanying a face that winced in pain.

Yes, Killian had been slapped by his wife in front of people who should not be honoured. He didn't expect Julietta to do that for someone else.

"A hobo like you doesn't deserve to lay a hand on Mr Robert!"

"Now, get out of here! We'll settle the matter at home. Go away!" Julietta kicked Killian out roughly while pushing his body backwards.

BURRR...

A glass of red wine was poured over Killian's head, soaking his head and some of his clothes.

As soon as he was splashed, Killian got up and rushed towards Robert, gripping his shirt tightly and suddenly...

BUCK...

The bare fist could be heard clearly, landing on Robert's face with a thud, as he did not expect Killian to dare to do that; then, a speck of fresh blood came out of Robert's mouth.

While enduring the pain, Robert tried to counter-punch to reach Killian's shabby clothes. But Killian dodged and again landed his best punch on Robert's stomach, causing him to bend over and fall to his knees on the floor.

"Killian! What the fuck are you doing? Don't you know? Mr Robert is the manager of the Spencer Group company?"

"With his words alone, you could be dead. Let's kneel and apologise to him!" screamed Julietta in fear.

"Ptooey!"

"This kind of bastard doesn't deserve any respect."

BUCK...

"Argh!"

Once again, Killian mistreated Robert by kicking his body, causing it to bounce off the glass table behind him until it shattered.

"How dare you hit me? Don't you know who I am?"

"I'm the man in charge of the Spencer Group! You're going to die!" he shouted while trying to get up from the floor.

"Mr Robert! Please forgive my stupid husband. I promise I will divorce him for your sake," Julietta's plea to Robert was getting more and more frightening.

Meanwhile, Killian was getting hotter and angrier, seeing how his wife's attention was lavished on another man. It was something he never got during his year of marriage with Julietta.

"Julietta! How dare you! I'm your husband, respect me even a little," Killian shouted angrily.

"Husband? Appreciate?" Julietta responded.

"Since when do you claim to be a husband if you still live in my family, working on getting food in my house? Is that what you call a husband? During my marriage to you, what did I get? Only scorn and contempt from people and my family."

"Is an unlucky person like you worthy of being called a husband? It would be best if you were called a watchdog who eats from the leftovers of discarded food. You're a cunt, you know?"

"Now get out of here! I'm sick of seeing your dog-like face," Julietta said emotionally, releasing her frustration while pointing her finger at Killian.

The woman was upset that Killian had dared to provoke Robert. He had also dared to hit him. She had lost her chance to get Robert's attention due to Killian's harsh treatment.

"Ptooey!" Julietta spat at Killian, hitting him right in the face.

For a second, Killian was in disbelief. The wife he had truly loved, and always taken care of, had the heart to commit such a despicable act.

With a feeling of annoyance and humiliation. Killian wiped Julietta's saliva with his sleeve. Then he said, "All right. I'll leave and won't interfere with your fun anymore. But remember, after this, you will regret having committed this humiliation against me!"

"Regret? Ha...ha...ha...!"

"A riff-raff like you dares to say sorry to a daughter of the Smith family. Don't you dream," Julietta said with an amused laugh? Then she approached Robert, hugged him, and dusted off his expensive clothes.

Seeing that visual, Killian honestly couldn't stand it, either. He again wanted to punch Robert in the face, along with Julietta. But Killian preferred to leave the room with a genuinely sick heart. The bag of food that he had been carrying was thrown into a nearby waste basket.

Unsteadily, Killian stepped out of the office courtyard where his wife worked, unaware of direction. His mind and attention were so unfocused that he accidentally bumped into a slender figure about to pass him.

BRUCK...

"Argh," cried a young female voice as her body was hit by Killian, causing the files in the folder she was carrying to scatter on the asphalt.

"Hey... take care! Why are you walking while daydreaming?" reprimanded a soft voice greeting Killian. After controlling himself, Killian immediately woke up from his reverie and saw a familiar face in college.

"Elizabeth!" he greeted kindly while taking off the hat that was always perched on her head.

"Killian! It's you. What are you doing here? Do you work for the Spencer Group too?" Elizabeth asked in shock.

"I apologise for bumping into you just now. I didn't mean to," Killian replied without answering Elizabeth's question.

"Never mind. I'm not focused, either. By the way, what are you doing at this Spencer Group subsidiary?"

"Nothing. I just wanted to deliver lunch to my wife," he replied lazily and desperately.

"Are you married?" Elizabeth asked curiously.

"Yes! I became a husband to a woman from the Smith family a year ago," Killian replied.

"Why didn't you invite me, or at least your other friends?" asked Elizabeth, still not understanding the situation.

"Never mind. It's better not to discuss the matter anymore," Killian snarled unenthusiastically.

As an intelligent woman, Elizabeth understands that there is something wrong with Killian's story, but she prefers to change the topic to eliminate the awkwardness of their conversation.

"Oh yes, Killian. After graduating from college. What did you do?"

"After graduation, our friends kind of lost touch with you."

"What exactly happened?" asked Elizabeth, trying to change the awkward atmosphere into a more relaxed one.

"It's a long story," Killian replied briefly.

"Tell me about it. I happen to be free at the moment. I just lost my job after Julietta’s manager fired me for knowing the misappropriation of Spencer Group's company funds," said Elizabeth.

"What! You were fired because you dared to expose the fraud of your manager?" Killian's shocked response.

"You know, the manager Julietta you mentioned earlier is my wife, and she's the one who kicked me out of there just now," said Killian emotionally.

"Oh, then I apologise. I didn't intend to insult her. I apologise again," said Elizabeth, who felt guilty.

"You calm down. Right now, I am her husband, but soon, I will be her ex," said Killian.

"What do you mean? Isn't Miss Julietta beautiful? Why do you want to be her ex?" asked Elizabeth, not understanding.

"Again, it's a long story. I can't tell it here," said Killian.

"Oh, then let's go to the House of Asia, which is not far from here," suggested Elizabeth, who felt curious.

"Are you sure you want to take me there?" asked Killian incredulously.

"Why you don't want to?" said a stunned Elizabeth.

"Hmm... it's not that. I'm just wondering why you're so nice to me, even though you know my situation," Killian responded.

"To me, you are still my best friend, past, present and future!" said Elizabeth.

"I still remember when you bravely saved me from the evil deeds of our college friends," she adds.

"Without you, I don't know what would have happened to me," Elizabeth recalled, feeling a little sad.

"Come on, do you want to or not?"
