In the afternoon.
Everyone was sitting at the grand dining table of the Hamilton mansion. There were many maids serving the food.
Jake, however, didn’t touch the food.
Delma glanced at her grandfather.
“Ahem, your bank cards are now working,” Elmond said. “They won’t get frozen again.”
“Huh, so I should get all happy now and eat?” Jake harrumphed.
“Jake, I apologize in my grandpa’s stead,” Delma frankly said while looking at him.
After her open apology, Jake’s anger melted and his hunger dominated his other feelings.
He started eating all the dishes served on his plate to quench the hunger of four days.
“Isn’t Delma so wonderful?” Jake’s mother, Felicia, whispered in his ear.
“Mom,” Jake whispered back. “Even the maids look fit. But look at Delma. She has three chins. I can still look past that. But her health must be a mess. I don’t think she’s even capable of getting pregnant. If she’s like this, imagine how she’ll be five years down the line. She will make me pass out with her fart alone.”
Felicia was just forcing herself to smile because Delma’s grandfather, Elmond, was looking at her.
On one side of the table, Jake and his four family members sat down. On the other side, only Delma and Elmond were sitting.
“Why are there only the two of you?” Jake asked. “Where are you other family members? Are they too busy with their work?”
Delma slightly frowned from hearing his words.
“My wife, Delma’s parents and siblings all died in a plane crash more than a decade ago,” Elmond said, shocking Jake.
Jake didn’t know that.
His family members already knew that information, but they still felt pity for Delma now.
“After losing everyone, Delma started eating food without control,” Elmond added. “I’m not trying to give excuses, but what I said is the truth. All of my wealth belongs to her.”
Felicia and Brett’s eyes were shining. Prisha’s eyes, even more so.
After all, if Jake were to marry Delma, then all of her wealth will become Jake’s wealth, too.
If it’s Jake’s wealth, then it’s Prisha’s wealth, too.
Just the value of Ordinance Park would be worth over a trillion dollars. And their Ordinance company was worth even more.
Jake would be utterly blind and stupid to forgo this kind of an opportunity, his family members thought.
Just the food items on the table would be worth thousands of dollars, probably more than the monthly income of Jake’s family, which they earned through their fast food shop.
Jake’s family members naturally felt very lucky and blessed to be sitting at that perfectly veneered wooden table.
Jake, however, didn’t seem to be in sync with his family members.
Delma, on the other hand, ate only cucumbers and carrots.
It was very difficult for her to not touch the prawns, chicken, and beef even though these delicious items were right before her.
When she tried to go for a prawn, her grandfather slapped her hand and restricted her.
Delma broke out a smile and apologized.
Felicia rooted for Delma, “You can do it. I know you can!”
Jake felt her mother’s words to be cringe-worthy.
Prisha and Davis asked Elmond about the paintings on the walls. He patiently told them about the paintings and their worth. Some of the paintings were worth over half a billion dollars which boggled the minds of Prisha and Davis.
Prisha asked, “If a great painter draws my painting, how much will it be worth?”
“It won’t be worth a dollar,” Jake replied.
“Brother!” Prisha grabbed a handful of prawns and stuffed them in his mouth, nearly choking him.
Delma wished Prisha did that to her. She could only swallow her breath for the time being. (When am I going to eat to my heart’s content again?) She looked stressed and depressed already.
Dieting was much more difficult than she thought.
And this was just the first day!
“Once I get slim, we’ll have a grand wedding, Jake,” Delma voiced her mind. “The wedding cake will be bigger than this table. The pool will be full of pristine wine. We’ll have our painting drawn together.”
Her words absolutely stunned and awed Jake’s family members.
Jake squeezed his lips together a little. “No offense, Ms. Delma, but what if I don’t like you even after you lose your weight?”
“J-Jake! How can you talk like that?” Felicia was shocked by her son’s attitude.
“It’s okay, Aunt,” Delma softly said. “What I want is not a horse but a husband, so… if you don’t like me even after I get slim, then you’ll be free to go. Your family doesn’t have to pay the 100 million dollars I gave them, either.”
Felicia and Brett were relieved to hear that, but they were also nervous on the inside.
“Hmph,” Jake snorted. “You think I’ll believe the words of someone who forcefully brought me here? Even if you do lose weight and look pretty, I’m not marrying you.”
Those words concluded the lunch.
Jake’s parents wanted to scold him and teach some sense to him, but they didn’t get the chance as Elmond took Jake with him.
After walking through many corridors and halls, they eventually reached a dead end.
“Why are we here, Grandpappa Almond?” Jake asked, still appearing mildly annoyed.
“It’s Elmond. Not Almond!” Elmond, suppressing his anger, put his hand on the wall, and his palm was scanned by it. “And don’t call me Grandpappa. Mr. Elmond, or Sir Almond will do.”
A secret door opened in the wall, startling Jake very much. “Whoa…”
Elmond entered the elevator and told him to get inside.
However, Jake was hesitant. “Where will this take us?”
“To where your worth can be calculated,” Elmond replied. “Come inside. I’m not going to eat you.”
After Jake doubtfully entered, the elevator went underground and arrived at a facility which looked futuristic with many humanoid robots working on different projects.
They all greeted Elmond with realistic voices.
Their movements seemed pretty fluid as they created weapons pretty fast.
These weapons were simple guns but wave energy weapons, which could kill people from miles away without even alerting them.
Jake was so shocked by everything he silently followed Elmond who took him to the central chamber.
“Old man, did you bring me here to make my clone and then kill me?” Jake asked without hesitation.
Elmond calmly replied, “Follow me…” he entered the central chamber which was nothing but a room full of shelves with different items inside. “Each one of these items holds a special power within them.”
“Power?” Jake wondered. “You mean like laser weapons?”
“No,” Elmond shook his head. “Why don’t you try picking one?”
“I can?”
“Yeah, if you are qualified, then they will react with you,” Elmond stated.
“Is that so?” Jake casually went here and there, and his eyes noticed something that looked like a tree bark, which was placed in the center of the chamber. “Is this an item, too?” He picked it up and sniffed it. “It smells good.”
“Be careful. That’s the supreme shedding system,” Elmond warned. “If it gets annoyed, it can easily make you go bald.”
“Haha, that was a good joke,” Jake laughed and said, “I wonder what this tastes like.” He brought it closer to his mouth and licked it.
“You fool!” Elmond rushed over, but the tree bark soon turned into dust. Elmond’s feet skidded into a halt. His eyes swelled in shock as he stared at Jake in astonishment and disbelief. “I-Impossible.” He was taken aback. “Y-You, you got chosen by the shedding system? A loser like you?”

It didn’t take long for Elmond to realize who the culprit was. There were some cameras that were dismantled, which was something the shedding system was capable of doing. But what sealed the deal was the three dogs which lost all their hair.On top of that, Jake was missing. This led Elmond to come to the conclusion that Jake wasn’t kidnapped, but Jake was the one who actually ran away last night.“If you had let me chip him when we caught him,” Elmond was coldly talking with Delma, “then we would have known where he is right now.”“He’s not a dog, Grandpa.”“But he left you, didn’t he?”Delma visibly frowned. “I’m sorry. I didn’t think he’d run away again. He must really hate me,” she looked depressed and hurt.Elmond’s heart ached. “He has the shedding system now. It won’t be easy to capture him, but don’t worry. My legs are hurting, so massage them,” Jake told her.“Huh?” She looked a bit bewildered. “You want me to do what?”“You heard me.”Anne frowned. “I never massaged anybody.”“Then you can start from today,” Jake said. She reluctantly touched his legs and began to press the shin bone.“You think I’m made of cotton?” Jake snorted. “Put more strength into your hands.”“Ugh,” she pressed his legs with more strength. “Is this enough?”“Ahh…” Jake made a pleased noise, which startled her. “That’s more like it. You are doing a better job than I thought. Keep going.”For the next five minutes or so, Anne pressed his legs.“You can stop now,” Jake said coldly. She was happy to stop. Can I see him?”“You will see him when the time is right,” Delma replied, keeping eye-contact with him without blinking.Melvyn forced out a smile. There was not a hint of worry or anything in his face.“Just… for that… reason…” Trisha was saying, and he pulled his hand out.Trisha was falling forward.Delma grabbed her. “Let me take you to the hospital.”There was a big hole in Trisha’s chest, so Trisha knew it was too late.“...sorry,” Trisha squeezed out another word before life left her eyes.Delma’s mouth turned down. She moved Trisha’s head a couple of times, but there was no response.“She’s gone,” Melvyn said.Delma glared up at him. “You monster… how could you…”“She’s one of my weaknesses, which is why I had to kill her,” Melvyn said, and the rocks and the rubble around him began to tremble. “And now, her powers have been transferred to me.”The two halves of the island came together, and the entire island began to rise up into the sky. Both of them were badly wounded, and they weren’t conscious, either.“How could you do that to your own sister?” Delma’s jaw hardened.“What are you saying? She pointed her finger at her own sister for the sake of a toad,” Trisha indifferently said. “If I don’t discipline her well now, she will only get worse in time, don’t you think?”Delma didn’t say anything.Trisha clapped twice. Two of her bodyguards rushed over.“Take those two and go to the Blake mansion,” she told them, and they obliged. As the guards took Davis and Tessa away, Delma didn’

I never said I’d introduce you to my brother,” Tessa snorted. “Firstly, you should get a proper haircut. Then, you should look competitive.Do something that makes you stand out.”“Like what?”“I don’t know. Appear on the Forbes front page or something?”“W-What?” Davis’ jaw dropped.“If you can’t even do that much, you think you’re qualified to become a son-in-law of the Blake family?” Tessa snorted even loudly this time. “All our son-in-laws are from prestigious, billionaire families. So, figure it out yourself.”“H-How can I appear on Forbes?” Davis looked utterly baffled. “I didn’t even appear on my school’s notice board before.”Tessa spared him a cold gla

Tessa took the kite that Davis had made for her, but she ended up losing in the kite competition with Delma. So, she scolded Davis, saying, “I lost because of your kite!”However, Elmond intervened and said, “You lost because your skill was lacking compared to Delma’s. I made the kite for Delma, so I know that the difference was less in the kites and more in the ones flying those kites.”“Grandpa, you are kidding, right?” Tessa snorted.“Yes, sir. The fault was with me,” Davis supported her.Elmond sighed and shook his head. “Women these days go for the swan walk and end up losing the crow-walk they’re born with. Men also lose their masculinity by sucking up to women. It is so shameful to watch.” Saying that he walked away.“Don’t mind his words,” Delma told them. “He’s just a bit frustrated because he lost in a fight with Jake last evening.”“Fight? What fight?” Davis quickly asked.“They were trying to see who can eat more sweet buns,” Delma replied, “and my grandfather lost.”“Oh…”

Tessa arrived at the Hamilton mansion that morning.Instead of stopping the car in the front yard, she went round the mansion so that she could enter through the back door. However, she saw Jake practicing under the tree, and she could hear his fists moving through the air.“Whoa…” she kept watching him and forgot about time. “It’s like I’m watching my brother fist-fight the fire when he is young.”But soon, she noticed that he was making the falling leaves fly away in different directions in different waveforms.“Wow… how’s he doing that?”She got out of the car and walked straight up to Jake, with her hands in her loose pockets.“Mr. Jake, you sure are putting on a show,” Tessa grinned. “But I don't see Delma watching. What a waste.”Jake was startled by her entrance. He was too focused that he didn’t notice her coming. “You were saying something?”“I said, you shouldn’t practice so hard when Delma isn’t watching,” Tessa smirked. “Do it before her so that she’d be impressed.”“I-I w

Later that night.A phone rang.Davis woke up and saw that it was an unknown number. He answered it.But silence followed.“Hello?” Davis asked. “Who is this?”“I was expecting you to cut the call, but you’re rather patient,” a sweet female voice said from the other side.Davis’ eyes widened as he recognized that voice. “M-Miss Tessa?”It was twelve o’clock at night, so why did she call him at this hour? His heart started pounding regardless if it was to scold him or some other negative reason.“Why did you call me?” Davis cluelessly asked.“I was eating muffins, and I thought it would have been nice if we had muffins at the park,” Tessa replied.“Oh…” Davis didn’t know what to say. Did she really call him to tell just that? “I didn’t know that you liked muffins.”“I used to eat them when I was young,” Tessa replied. “I like the raisins they put in these muffins. They add nice texture to the bread.”“Then… I’ll buy muffins next time we spend time at the park?” Davis hesitantly stated.

You also tried to fight me for the factory. You’re brave, too. I can see why Delma is interested in you.”A few seconds passed.Melvyn released fog through his palm. It turned into a skull-faced fog and flew through the air at incredible speed.Within seconds, it arrived at the Hamilton mansion.Jake, who was in the backyard, looked up at the sky as a massive skull-faced fog came down, seemingly to devour him.Clenching his fist, he threw a punch at it.The fog got dispersed and then it condensed once more behind him, into a much smaller skull-faced fog.“I was doubtful, but now I’m sure tha

If you don’t have faith in yourself, then who will?”For some reason, Jake’s words made him feel better. “Stop teasing me, Bro.”“I ain’t teasing you as much as I’m teasing myself,” Jake chortled.Delma and Elmond were watching them from the balcony.“It doesn’t look like Davis succeeded even after giving the two systems back,” Delma uttered.“I’m not surprised,” Elmond casually said while eating pistachios. “The girls these days are as hypocritical as ever.
