Delma handed a check to Anne. “If you want more money, feel free to call the same number.”

“O-Okay,” Anne was not expecting to be paid much less get paid so quickly.

“Can we buy lots of lollipops like you said, Aunt?” Layla innocently asked while jumping with excitement.

Her words made Jake understand that it was Anne who was the one who planned the whole thing to capture him.

Currently, Jake was tied up and was being taken away to the helicopter which had landed in the park.

After him, Delma entered the helicopter and sat next to him.

As the chopper flew away, Delma waved goodbye to Layla and Anne. Both of them waved back.

Anne briefly stared at the check and wondered, “Did I do the right thing or not?”

Delma gave a bowl full of fruits to Jake.

He refused to even touch the fruits.

“Believe  it or not, I wasn’t the one who placed a bounty poster,” Delma said. “It was done by my grandfather.”

Jake snorted. “But you still came to kidnap me now, didn’t you?”

“If I didn’t, then my grandpa would have come for you,” Delma replied.

Jake frowned. “What does your grandpa exactly want from me?”

“Well, you’ve talked with him before.”

“Yeah, he treats me as if I’m trash,” Jake gritted his teeth. “And I hate that my family members still treat him like a king! It’s crazy what money can turn people into! A five year-old girl tricked me and helped in my capture.”

Sometime later.

At Ordinance Park, a private land of over 30,000 acres.

At the center of the park was a mighty mansion boasting 1044 rooms.

This was the Ordinance Mansion owned by the Hamilton family, for which Delma was the sole heir.

“Jake! How could you run away from us?” Jake’s mom, Felicia, hugged him and cried.

His father Brett, and his younger sister and young brother were also there, looking extremely happy that he was back.

Jake didn’t look happy, though.

He never wanted to come back to this mansion, but here he was again.

“How could I not run away?” Jake cried out openly. “How can I marry a mountain-sized woman? If I knew blind dates could be so disastrous, I would have never gone on a blind date!”

“Jake, our family is poor,” Felicia said quickly. “We haven’t been earning enough with our fast food shop because my health hasn’t been good lately. Our entire family can’t thrive on it forever. Nobody came forward to marry you because our house is also small and old. We don’t have a good bank balance, and we have debts to clear. Moreover, you are already 29 years old. If you delay your marriage any longer, then I’m afraid you’ll never get married.”

“I’d rather not marry at all than marry her!” Jake vehemently shouted. “Yeah, she can go ahead and force me to marry her, but I’m going to see how she can make me touch her!”

“D-Don’t talk like that, Jake!” Brett quickly said. “She may be fat, but she’s a good woman at heart. Even after you ran away, she didn’t get upset with us. She thought you might have been dissatisfied with the dowry, so she changed it to 100 million!”

Jake’s heart shook for a second. “H-Hundred million?”

“Yes, Brother,” Jake’s younger sister, Prisha, smiled very happily, flashing all her front teeth. She was a radiant beauty. “To be honest, I thought you ran away so that you will get caught by your friend and then earn the million dollar reward, too! It turns out that you are not as smart as I thought!”

“Sorry to disappoint you,” Jake sarcastically said.

Just then, Jake’s younger brother, Davis, came to him and showed him some images on his mobile. “Bro, look at these pictures once.”

“Mm?” Jake looked at them. “Why are you showing me the pics of a teenager?”

“”What do you think about this girl?”

“Did you eat something rotten last night? Why are you asking such a thing about someone who looks like a 12 year old?” Jake barked.

“Because this girl was Delma when she was young!” Davis added.

Jake was startled quite a bit. “What? There’s no way,” he looked at the pictures again. The girl in the pictures was like a doll with the perfect symmetry. Her face, her eyes, and her smile was supremely pleasing and attractive to the eyes. “No, no, no, there’s no way this girl is Delma. Look, this one has a mole on her neck. But Delma doesn’t have one, right?”

“Maybe the mole got buried under the fat folds of her neck?” Prisha opined.

Jake was still shaking his head. “Even if it’s her, I’m not marrying her!”

“Brother, I heard Delma telling Mom that she will lose weight,” Prisha added. “Don’t you think you should give her a chance? Don’t be so mean to her when she loves you so wholeheartedly.”

“If you give her a year, then she’ll get slim, I think,” Davis opined. “I’m sure she’s hurt because you ran away once, so don’t do such a stupid thing again, or you might really make her angry and upset.”

“You’re worried that she might get angry and upset, but what about my feelings?” Jake hissed at his family members.

“Well,” Davis scratched his chin and said, “she can darken the sun, stop the moon in its orbit, and turn the sea into glass if she wants. What can you do?”

Jake frowned. “I’m sure she can’t do any of that shit, but I get what you’re trying to convey by exaggerating things. Still, marrying her isn’t an option! If you like her so much, you can marry her!”

Everything that was happening in this room was currently being watched on a screen by Delma, and she was smiling with amusement.

“How can you smile when he’s talking like that about you, Delma?” an old man in a vintage, royal suit was standing next to her while adjusting his gold Rolex watch. “He may be good looking, but there are handsome guys in every city block. What’s so special about him that you caused a big scene to bring him back?”

“If I was in his shoes, I might have reacted the same way, Grandpa,” Delma said. “So, I’m going to be patient with him. Also, he said his bank card was frozen. He was yelling at me coldly for doing such a cruel thing. Why did you do it without even telling me?”

The old man, Elmond, forced out a laugh. “I wanted to teach that loser a lesson.”

“But he wasn’t wrong in running away. Maybe, I was too hasty,” Delma said, sighing. “I will give him some breathing space this time.”

“I don’t think he’s worthy of your time,” Elmond said in a firm voice. “I will prove it to you.”

“Ethereal Bane Fists!”Poisonous fog blasts rained down on Jake without end, his voice thick just like the swirling tendrils of dark smog. On top of it, Melvyn used the telekinesis power to send big rocks flying at Jake.Jake blocked and deflected as many as he could and tried to break through Melvyn’s defenses.Despite raging in wrath, Melvyn was actively dodging Jake’s attacks, his eyes like chips of obsidian themselves. The fog around him solidified, churning and darkening, hinting at the terrible power it held.“You look cute without hair,” Jake commented, hoping it’d make Melvyn lower his guard.Melvyn’s intensity of attacking increased even more, and this helped Jake land a few hits in.But they didn’t do as much damage as he thought, or at least Melvyn was in too much of rage to be stopped by just any attacks. A couple of days ago.“Miracles don’t just happen,” Elmond was talking to Jake after soundly beating him during practice. “A lot of unseen work goes before one can pull off those jaw-dropping victories. To defeat Melvyn, you will certainly need a lot of raw power, but more than that, you should be able to suppress your own fears. Otherwise, you won’t be able to beat his fog.”“Suppress my own fears?” Jake looked puzzled. “I don’t get what you mean.”“Why do you think you got crystallized even when you had the shedding system?” Elmond said. “It’s because you couldn’t overcome his fog even when he wasn’t using his full strength.”“Y-You’re telling me.. His fog can do a lot more?”“It’s a world ending power… just like your system,” Elmond stated. “That’s why they’re called legendary systems. There are only a dozen or so systems like yours around the world, starting with the alpha system. When you’re competing at the top level, you’ll need to observe not just your opponent but also yourse
