Chapter 6: I wasted my time.

I was deep in thoughts when I felt a tap on my shoulder and I turned to see Angel ,a long lost friend.

I was too shocked to say anything.

"Wow, I knew it was you, but I wasn't sure you didn't change a bit;" she exclaimed happily ,with the biggest smile.

She always liked smiling.

"Angel." I called and she nodded.

"It's nice to meet you again Jay." Her smile widened and I couldn't help but return the smile. 

She remembers me, that's good.

"Are you busy, why don't we grab lunch?" I asked her ,since I didn't want to waste this opportunity.

"Sure we have a lot of catching up to do, I was heading home, but I can spare some minutes." She smiled.

We went to grab lunch together and she revealed she was married with two kids under the age of ten.

Hearing her talk about how adorable her kids were , made my eyes drop a bit and I lowered my head .

I didn't want my sadness to outshine her happiness, so I said nothing.

"Look at me talking only about myself, sorry, are you married?" She asked me out of the blue and I smiled sadly and shook my head, indicating I meant no.

"Oh sorry I asked, that's a surprise, everyone liked you and wanted to be your wife in high school." She chaffed, trying to lighten up the mood.

"Yes , I remember." I mumbled.

"Do you have any kids?" She asked and I gulped.

I think I just realized I wasted ten years on a meaningless and useless relationship.

I came out of the relationship with nothing but debt and heartache, it was only a matter of time before I get reminded of the debt I owe, talking to Angel about her happy family, it made me sad and I just wanted to leave and but on the other hand ,I have a mission I needed to complete.

Pity and useless feelings of heartache won't give me money.

"No kids." I replied, snapping out of my thoughts and her eyes widened for a brief second, as if she didn't expect that.

"Oh!" She exclaimed and shifted uncomfortably in her chair.

I knew that part of her wanted to ask me what I have been doing all these years ,but she just held her tongue.

I always said I would have a big family ,when I was in highschool, that hasn't changed.

I just met and fell in love with the wrong woman.

I could tell she got uncomfortable with our conversation, since I was mainly keeping quiet and she was doing all the talking.

She told me she had to leave ,so she could pick up her kids from her mom's house.

"I actually baked some cupcakes, do you want to try it?" I asked her.

She raised an eyebrow now and I sure and she was taken aback and surprised by what I asked.

"Okay, thank you." She chuckled nervously as she took the bag of cupcakes ,thanked me again.

We exchanged phone numbers and she wished me well and left.

I got the alert of the money being sent to my account and I smiled.

I headed back home.

When I returned back home ,I saw my landlord waiting for me at my door.

"What is it?" I asked him as he was waiting angrily for me.

"I heard things about you, and I don't think it will be a good idea for you to continue living here when the month ends you should leave." He told me and I nodded in understanding.

I don't know what lies Linda told my landlord's and neighbors, but these days some look at me in disgust,while others look at me in pity and avoid me.I always had a good relationship with my neighbors,so I wonder what happened.

"I know sir, I wasn't planning on staying here." I informed him and his face beamed.

"Good." He smiled.

"Wait ,what did you hear about me that made you come all the way here?" I inquired from him.

"I heard you beat your girlfriend and you are hostile to good neighbors." He replied and I scoffed, because his words were obviously lies.

I don't think he would believe a word I say, do I just let it go.

The landlord left and I headed back into the apartment and began to pack my bags, this is really unpredictable.

I never thought for once that Linda was this evil.

If not that I was not planning on staying here ,she wanted to make me homeless after she broke my heart.

That woman is just a snake.

I was stuffing my clothes into my bag when the blue floating screen appeared in front of me.

Since I was already feeling annoyed and had a lot of time on my hands.

I decided to head to the club, but the only problem was I haven't been to the club for many years, I don't even know how to feel there or how to dance since I haven't gone there since my mid twenties.

The partying and hanging out with friends stopped after I met Linda.

I was more involved in her children's life ,so I couldn't go out partying, when I needed to be a Father figure and help with the kids.

Now that I think about it ,I wonder why I was doing all those things for another man's child.I didn't even enjoy my youth ,because I was taking care of someone else's kids.

Seriously, it gets me annoyed.

I wore comfortable clothes and left for the nightclub closest to my house.

In the nightclub, I got in the middle of the dance floor and I could see ladies grinding against their partners and I was just raising my hand while doing awkward dance movements with my hand.

I wanted to die of embarrassment, but I remembered that no one would actually be paying attention to me.

I felt more comfortable and started swaying my hips a bit to the beats of the song and I just decided to enjoy it ,since I couldn't dance I could just move thinking about nothing else, but the music.

I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turned abruptly to see a young girl , probably in her early twenties smiling at me and she winked.

She leaned closer to me and whispered into my ears.

"Why don't we go somewhere quieter?" I heard her say and I felt a yank from behind and I turned right in time to see someone's fist aiming for my face. I moved my face to the right and took steps backwards.
