After the literary exhibition, Elaine invited everyone to celebrate in a “tavern” Downtown. The bar was an elegant social club that served drinks and snacks, nothing compared to the substandard bars Matthew knew from Lion’s Den.

As they entered, this was a strange feeling Matthew had. The club was well crafted with wooden furniture and shelves of bottles of the most varied drinks. Bartenders and mixologists worked while waiters in black vests and bow ties served customers. The Gibraltar Club was not a place for rowdiness, loud music, and drunken fights.

At the large, round table where Elaine, Matthew, Augusto, and Brennon were, Negroni, Gin and tonic, Scotch highball and Aperol Spritz were served.

“Cheers, guys! To the best interns I had the privilege of working with!” Elaine exclaims.

“Cheers!” Everyone toasts, making glasses clink.

Matthew felt wonderful and fulfilled. Here he was, enjoying yet another achievement, and unlocking another level of his life. The prices of the drinks ch

Ernesto waited patiently as Gustavo threw on a pair of loose boxers and a white undershirt before their talk about Linda could begin. When the young man finally sat on the edge of the bed, still half-asleep but attentive, Ernesto didn’t waste time.“What happened to my little sister?” Gustavo asked, his voice rough from sleep.“She showed up at Silva Oil Company,” Ernesto said gravely. “Applied for a job — secretary, or even dock worker.”Gustavo’s eyes widened in disbelief. “What? That’s insane!”“Of course it is,” Ernesto agreed. “I’m glad we’re on the same page.”“She was fired from the clinic?”“She didn’t say clearly,” Ernesto replied, his tone shadowed by worry. “But I can only imagine one reason.”“She quit because of that flirty doctor,” Gustavo muttered darkly.Ernesto’s face softened as he recalled the scene. “She cried in my arms, son. I just... I don’t know how to protect her anymore.”“I do,” Gustavo said, his expression hardening.“I was hoping you’d say that,” Ernesto a

Bryce sat alone in his father’s office, surrounded by a chaos of papers that seemed to multiply on the mahogany desk. His fingers moved feverishly over the keyboard, the screen’s glow reflecting in his tired eyes. The tension had been building for hours, and the pounding in his temples warned that another headache was on its way.“This can’t go on...” he muttered under his breath. “Tiffany, where the hell are you?”He reached for the landline, dialing a number with impatient precision.“Yes, young Mr. Hudson?” came the assistant’s crisp voice on the other end.“Where’s Tiffany? Send her to my father’s office immediately.”“Young Mr. Hudson, Assistant de Paula didn’t come in today,” the assistant replied.“What?!” Bryce’s voice sharpened.“She sent a medical certificate by email. She’ll be back tomorrow.”“Did she say why?” he asked, the edge of jealousy creeping into his tone.“No, but—” the assistant’s voice turned playfully malicious. “Word around here is she’s seeing someone. In the Hudson family’s sunlit kitchen, Edmund felt cornered by his own son. How could he possibly confess that the woman who made him feel twenty again was the same age as Bryce?“I’d rather respect the young lady’s privacy,” Edmund murmured, trying to maintain his composure.“YOUNG lady?” Bryce shot back, catching this excerpt. “I suspected as much. Her moans are far too young and clear to belong to a woman of... maturity.”“Bryce!” Edmund barked, irritation cracking through his usual restraint. “Show some respect for your father!”Bryce only shrugged, unconvinced. “Fine. Don’t tell me. But it’s strange, that’s all.”Taking advantage of the distraction, Edmund swiftly snatched the knife from Bryce’s hand and began spreading butter on his toast with unnecessary urgency. “One day, when she’s ready, I’ll introduce you. Now hurry up and eat — we have plenty to do at the cultural hall today.”“Yes,” Bryce said, lifting his cup halfway before stopping. “And I hope Tiffany is feeling better

Thursday. At Hudson residence, Bryce sat at the kitchen table, shirtless, wearing only a pair of tailored trousers, the picture of languid rebellion. He stirred his coffee absentmindedly, suspicion clouding his expression.Moments later, Edmund appeared: shirt half-buttoned, hair slightly tousled, the faintest shadow of guilt lurking behind his practiced smile. He tried, and failed, to look casual.“Good morning, son,” he greeted, sliding into the chair opposite.“What’s good about it?” Bryce replied curtly.Edmund forced a laugh. “Wow, someone is in a foul mood today!”He reached for the butter knife, but Bryce’s hand shot out, seizing it before he could touch it.His tone turned sharp. “Tell me first: who’s my new stepmother?”Edmund blinked, startled. “What? What nonsense are you talking about? Give me the knife.”“Not until you answer,” Bryce pressed. “Should I just keep pretending not to hear the moans and cries coming from your room when I get up to use the bathroom at three a.m

  • Chapter 1184 Fathers Who Protect Their Princesses

Ernesto strolled with Linda through the port courtyard of the Silva Oil Company. The place was alive with movement, the rhythmic clang of metal, the barked orders, the synchronized ballet of dockworkers and stevedores hauling cargo beneath the blazing sun.Linda watched them with quiet fascination, as though she were studying every motion, certain she would soon be among them as an employee. Her father’s voice broke the spell. “Why are you staring so much at the workers? It’s not as if you’re planning to learn how to do their jobs.”Linda turned to him, frowning slightly. “Father, don’t you want me to work here, near you?”“I’d like that,” Ernesto replied, his tone heavy, “but not under the circumstances you’re in right now.”She lowered her head, her voice soft. “You don’t have to worry about me.”“You weren’t simply dismissed,” he said sternly. “There’s something else you’re not telling me, isn’t there?”“Please, don’t make a scene about this.”“I will, if I find out it had anything

  • Chapter 1183 Rekindling the Flame

Ernesto walked through the long, echoing corridors of Silva Oil Company, his work boots clicking against the polished floor. Guilt weighed heavily on him.He still regretted meddling in Patricia’s personal life. ‘What if she fires me for sticking my nose where it didn’t belong?’ he wondered, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.Turning the corner, he stopped dead in his tracks. His heart nearly jumped from his chest. There, by the Human Resources office, stood Linda handing a brown envelope to the attendant behind the counter. The somber look on her face said everything.Ernesto knew that envelope’s shape and weight all too well. He had seen dozens of those over the years: résumés, job applications, last resorts.“Thank you, Miss Alvares. We’ll be in touch,” said the clerk politely.“Of course,” Linda replied, her tone clipped and formal. As soon as the attendant disappeared into the office, Ernesto strode toward her, his voice a mixture of shock and reproach. “Linda! What do you t
