In the afternoon, Matthew and Clayton enter one of the bank branches in Blue Cove.

They get the password, go through the revolving door that has a metal detector, and go to the loan department.

As they wait, Clayton whispers, “Last chance, buddy.”

“It’s your last chance to keep quiet,” Matthew whispers back good-naturedly.

“Maybe if I take out the loan in my name and you pay me later...” Clayton suggests.

“No. I had the idea, I brought you here, so I’ll be the one to take responsibility. Allow me this gesture of friendship, Clay.” Matthew blinks.

Clayton gives up. But the feeling that he is exploiting a young man with a golden heart never leaves his mind.

Time passed, and Matthew’s password was called. He took all the paperwork and documentation from the Happy Snack kiosk and went to the service window.

The place was basically a cubicle with seats, for the customer and bank employee to talk freely about the details of the loan.

“Good afternoon.” Matthew introduced himself, “I have com

As the sun dipped low over the Silva Mansion...Ronaldo stepped in the living room with the sharp scent of aftershave still clinging to his skin and his clothes freshly changed. His eyes scanned the room anxiously until they landed on his grandparents, Leonardo and Marta, both settled in their usual armchairs. Marta was absorbed in her romance novel — at least until Ronaldo’s sudden outburst startled her, making the book snap shut without so much as a bookmark to save her place.“Grandma, Grandpa... thank God I found you!” Ronaldo blurted, his voice breathless and strained.Marta clutched her chest in mock alarm. “My darling boy, you’ll send us straight to the afterlife with that tone!”Leonardo furrowed his brow and gestured to the couch. “Sit down, Ron. You’re going to tell us why you had that nervous breakdown.”Ronaldo dropped onto the sofa, his breath ragged. His legs bounced restlessly, the signs of inner turmoil written all over his body.“What is it now?” Marta asked, watching

Inside Jackson’s bedroom at the Borges House, the air was thick with disbelief. Jackson stood with arms crossed, eyes burning with outrage as he tried to process what Matthew had just told him.“So let me get this straight,” Jackson said slowly. “My future brother-in-law gets drunk, thinks he’s making love to my sister, and when everything comes to light... he decides you’re the one who set him up?”Matthew's voice was cold and controlled. “He thinks I orchestrated the whole thing just to win Patty back.”Jackson gave a dry, incredulous laugh. “I don’t believe this!”“I’d never do something like that,” Matthew said, his voice steady, almost pleading. “Not to Patty. Never.”Jackson looked at his friend for a long beat. Then, with reluctant honesty, he replied, “I’m sorry, Matt... but when I think about it, maybe you could have done something like that.”Matthew recoiled, shocked. “What are you talking about?”“I’m talking about that whole mess involving the car accident with Nathan and

That afternoon, at the elegant Gibraltar Club, Edmund and Tiffany were seated in a quiet corner, deep in conversation. The atmosphere between them had grown increasingly comfortable, marked by laughter and confessions. Yet Edmund hadn’t expected that getting to know Tiffany better would involve confronting the chaotic mind of his only son.“Tiffany,” he said, his tone tinged with shame, “don’t ask me to understand my boy’s troubled mind.”Tiffany’s eyes widened, surprised by the admission. “Why not?”“Because I’m the one to blame for it.”Her reaction was instant — softened by understanding. She took a small sip from her glass and smiled warmly.“That’s impossible. You’re the kindest, most grounded man I’ve ever had the honor to meet, Edmund.”His cheeks flushed a little. “Well... thank you.”“That’s why I refuse to believe you raised someone who only thinks with his—” she grinned mischievously, “—lower head.”Edmund sputtered mid-sip, nearly choking on his drink. A loud pfff! escaped

In the late afternoon, within the sleek, glass-walled office of Empire Sterling.Ronaldo had just played a risky card, and it seemed, for a moment, that he had turned the game in his favor. Karl stood behind his desk, flushed with rage, unable to contain himself after hearing what Ronaldo had just implied about Matthew.“Don’t you dare accuse my son of trying to murder his own uncle!” Karl roared.Ronaldo didn’t flinch. Instead, he smirked, arms casually crossed. “Ex-uncle, technically. Vicente and Andreia are getting divorced.”Karl’s tone shifted from fury to bitter triumph. “Thank God! You have no idea how long I waited for that moment.”There was a flicker of something more dangerous behind Ronaldo’s grin now. “Tell me something, Uncle Karl: are all those accusations you made in your video actually true?”“I have no reason to lie,” Karl snapped.“Then it would be only natural for people to think maybe you or Matt wanted to... scare Vicente a little, right?”Karl’s hands curled int

In the vestibule of the Borges House, the atmosphere had grown uncomfortably heavy. Matthew realized too late that Jackson didn’t want to talk about the “Ronaldo versus Patricia” debacle in front of Hélio. It was likely that Hélio wasn’t even aware of what had happened.Sensing something serious, Hélio raised his eyebrows, bracing himself.“For heaven’s sake,” he asked, “what happened with Patty and Ron?”Matthew glanced at Jackson before replying, carefully, “You don’t know, Seu Hélio?”“No, Matt... Wait — Jackson and Patty told me something earlier. They said you had been there.”From Matthew’s point of view, Jackson was once again pleading silently with his eyes.“Yes,” Matthew said, taking the hint and shifting course. “That’s what I wanted to talk about. I don’t want there to be any misunderstandings about my intentions.”Hélio’s shoulders relaxed with a visible breath of relief. “Oh, I see. But Matt, you already called us to clear all that up.”“I did. I made it clear I had no i

In the grand vestibule of the Borges House, the air felt heavier than usual. Hélio stood still, a worried expression carved into his face after answering the intercom. Just then, Jackson entered from the pool area, his skin glistening with droplets and a towel lazily slung around his waist — clear evidence that he’d been skinny-dipping again. But Hélio didn’t even have the energy to scold him.In truth, he barely registered the young man’s arrival.“Dad, something wrong?” Jackson asked, pausing. “Who’s coming?”“It was Matt,” Hélio replied, his tone strange and unsettled. “He called through the intercom. Sounded... off.”He paused, something flickering in his eyes. “Son, did something happen?”Jackson’s eyes widened, instincts immediately on edge. “Did he ask to speak to me or to you?”“He wanted you. I was about to call you from the pool.” Hélio finally noticed the towel situation and chuckled. “Good thing I didn’t.”The front door opened. Matthew stepped in, his face shadowed by som
