"I know exactly how to make him angry.”

Elijah caught the words and frowned, wiping sweat dried mud from his forehead with the dirty sleeve of his hospital gown.

He looked up at the old man, feeling so exhausted that he barely had the energy to keep his eyes open.

"What are you talking about now?" Elijah muttered in a raspy voice. "I told you, I don't care about anything anymore. There's nothing left inside me."

Instead of explaining, Master Caleb looked straight at Elijah. "Do you really remember nothing about your real parents?"

Elijah gave a dry chuckle,

"My parents? Why are you bringing that up now? I know that I'm an orphan, that's pretty much all. I don't know who they were, what their names were, or why they threw me away like a piece of garbage. I've spent my entire life alone, scrubbing floors and begging for scraps. That's my history."

"I'm asking, because you are not an orphan."

The old man said firmly, his stern face hardening into stone.

"You are our heir, belonging to a lineage greater than anything in this mortal realm! And your parents did not abandon you because they didn't want you."

“What are you talking about?”

Elijah’s heart began to thump, almost feeling like he was a kid once again. "Then... where are they? Why did they leave me?!"

"Your parents are being held captive right now, by our enemies. They have been chained, tortured, and trapped in darkness for years! Those vicious enemies want your powers, and they want that locket hanging from your neck. We are running out of time, Master. The longer we delay here, playing games, the closer they come to killing your parents!"

Elijah stood motionless. The words echoed in his mind, making him feel like he had been promised a whole candy shop and then denied access at the entry.

His parents were alive, which meant he had the biggest blessing he had ever dreamed of as a kid. But they were already at the edge of being snatched away from him…? Captive? Tortured? Chained?

All his life, he had lived with the agonizing belief that his parents were deadbeats who had discarded him on the street because they couldn't afford him.

He had swallowed years of loneliness, endured the mockery of Kathy and her family, and survived the cruel streets thinking he was an unloved mistake.

And now, this strange old man was telling him that his flesh and blood were suffering in chains? That enemies were hunting them down to butcher them?!

A terrifying surge of anger suddenly ignited deep in the pit of Elijah’s stomach. It rushed upward through his chest, burning through his veins like molten lava.

His vision turned red, and the veins along his neck and temples bulged violently.

Mia was watching him carefully from the distance, and she could see his face going rigid as the thought that Master Caleb had planted. For a moment, the dark fury rising in his eyes made shiver with dread!

"HOW DARE HE!!"

Elijah roared at the top of his lungs, the sound of his voice tearing through the sky like a clap of thunder.

He rounded on the two of them, his fists clenched so tightly that his fingernails pierced through his palms, drawing fresh droplets of blood. His eyes were wide, burning with an uncontrollable wrath that shook the very ground beneath his feet!

"WHAT IS GOING ON?!" Elijah roared again, pointing a trembling, furious finger at Master Frost. "TELL ME EVERYTHING, NOW! DON'T YOU DARE HIDE A SINGLE WORD FROM ME!!"

As his explosive fury reached the surface, the invisible energy holding Master Frost and Mia suspended in the air suddenly snapped like a rope.

THUD! THUD!

Both Master Frost and Mia dropped back down to the solid pavement, landing gracefully on their feet. Mia stumbled slightly, letting out a small gasp as she grabbed her spinning head, but Master Caleb didn't even blink.

He had succeeded in breaking the lock on Elijah’s dormant anger.

The old man straightened his clothes, his face turning serious. The casual her mysterious demeanor he carried before was completely gone, replaced by a heavy, sorrowful darkness.

Master Caleb took a slow step forward, looking into the blazing, bloodshot eyes of the young man standing before him.

"You are the Prince of the Tresid Dragon Bloodline.”

Elijah stared at him, his chest heaving up and down, his breathing ragged and heavy.

"Prince... of what?"

"This is not your original home," the old man continued, shaking his head with deep remorse.

"You do not belong to this ordinary, mundane world. You were born in a higher realm, the sole successor of the most sacred, supreme clan of rulers. But twenty-four years ago, a catastrophic war broke out. Treacherous rebels, blinded by greed and jealousy, allied themselves with dark forces to usurp the throne."

Master Caleb’s hands trembled slightly as he recalled the gruesome memories.

"They surrounded the imperial palace with legions of assassins," the old man explained, his eyes clouding with grief. "Their goal was absolute extermination. They wanted to slaughter the entire bloodline and steal the Supreme Seal—the very locket you hold in your hand. To save your life, when you were just a newborn infant, your parents made the ultimate sacrifice. They commanded us to tear open a rift between realms and send you here—to this world, where your presence would be hidden from their magical senses."

Elijah listened, completely paralyzed. His anger remained burning hot, but a cold, suffocating knot of dread began to tighten around his throat.

"And my parents?" Elijah demanded, his voice cracking with desperation. "You said they're captive! You said they're waiting for me!"

Meanwhile, three days ago...The harsh midday sun beat down relentlessly onto the dusty intersection where the two cracked streets crossed each other. The breeze was dry and warm, rustling the dirty hem of Elijah’s torn hospital gown. After the intense back-and-forth about his origins, his family's enemies, and the ancient powers he was supposed to possess, Elijah stood on the sidewalk, looking down at his worn-out slippers. His heart felt drained, bruised just like the rest of his body.He let out a heavy, tired breath, shaking his head."Okay, then I'll continue to live as the fool who knows nothing," Elijah said, his tone dry and strangely calm as he looked back up at the two people standing before him.Mia’s eyes went wide with pure disbelief. She stepped forward on the pavement, throwing her arms out in utter shock."So, if you keep living like a fool..." Mia started, her voice shrill with concern and frustration. "But how can you live like this?! Look at your clothes! Look

Master Caleb raised his hands in a placating gesture, quickly stepping forward to ease the sudden panic flaring in the young man's eyes.It was natural that after suffering so many hardships during his early years, the young heir was quite distrustful and easily suspected anyone. But it still caught Master Caleb off guard, and he was trying his best to sound soothing— meanwhile, this effort was amusing Mia quite a lot. "No, Master! Please, listen to me. You just need to disappear from the world's sight for a few days without leaving a body behind. I am asking you to act, not actually die! We would never even think of bringing harm to our own royal lineage. It is merely a performance to mislead those who are watching from beyond."Elijah stared at the old man, his breathing still rapid and uneven. The wild bull in his chest, that was bucking in the name of suspicion, began to settle slightly as he saw the look of sincerity on both their faces. These two were quite dramatic and ove

The dark chamber hummed with dark, crackling energy as the chains rattled against the stone pillars. The captor took another slow, deliberate step forward, his metallic boots striking the cold floor with a dull thud. He looked up at the two battered figures suspended in mid-air, his face twisted into an ugly, triumphant sneer."He had married a mortal," the man sneered, his voice echoing off the jagged walls of the dungeon. "Can you believe that? The great heir of the Dragon Bloodline, reduced to crawling at the feet of a mere human woman! And the best part? Even that mortal girl realized how worthless your son really is! She threw him away like a piece of useless garbage! And now, he has absolutely no hope left in this world."The chained emperor kept his jaw locked tight, his bloodshot eyes glaring down at his tormentor with burning hatred, but the captor only laughed louder, thoroughly intoxicated by his own words."Everything has gone according to my plan," the captor hissed, h

"No, Master! Please, listen to me!" Master Caleb pleaded, his voice breaking along with his heart. "We couldn't protect you openly, but we never truly abandoned you! You must understand the dark forces hunting your lineage. If we had shown ourselves in this mortal world with our true signatures, our enemies' trackers would have zeroed in on you instantly, putting you in danger. We had to pretend you had forgotten everything, watching over you from the shadows all these years!"The old man lowered his head to hid the tears in his eyes. "We thought you were simply hiding your true nature to protect yourself, we didn't realize you had genuinely lost your memories of who you are, otherwise we would have intervened much sooner! Had we known the seal on your mind was absolute, we would never have let you suffer in silence for so long!"Elijah listened to the old man's hurried explanation, his chest rising and falling heavily. He was the one who had been fooled brutally by his wife all

The old man lowered his head, unable to meet Elijah’s desperate gaze for a brief moment. Although he tried his best to control his emotions, a tear slipped from the edge of his eyes. Seeing him, Mia also felt a surge of emotions, and stepped back for a moment. "I spoke of enemies and danger to awaken the dormant magic in your blood, Master... but the reality is far more tragic “Master Caleb admitted, almost getting choked on his own tears. "Your real parents, unfortunately... they passed away suddenly, not long after we escaped with you."Elijah’s breath stopped. The world around him went completely silent. "Passed away...?""They fought to their very last breath. They held off hundreds of elite assassins at the gate of the void just to buy us enough time to send you across the dimensional rift safely. Their divine life force was burned to absolute ash. By the time the battle ended, their bodies succumbed to the fatal wounds and the devastating curse of the enemies. They died as m
