Marcus's heart flustered at those words and his voice drained of colour.

The heir of Kia reduced to licking another's man's boot, someone that wasn't even worthy to tie to knot of his shoes.

His legs almost turned jelly.

Damien's laughter grew, "You're just in time to watch the drama unfold!" He added and the halls instantly erupted in cheers.

Marcus glared, sneered, everything possible to make Damien stop but his arrogance had taken the better part of him.

"And to think that the bull dog was bragging just a..."

That was the last straw. Marcus could not stand another word

Before he could finish, Marcus’s hand shot out. A sharp, clean slap landed square across Damien’s face.

The sound cracked like glass. The hall froze. Drinks halted mid-air. Conversations died. Even the music from the speakers seemed to pause.

Damien’s face burned, hand rising to touch his cheek. Shock, pain and humilation burned into his skin all at once.

“You dare humiliate a Cole-linked guest?” Marcus’s voice was low but carried an edge that cut through the tension like a knife. “Do you know who stands before you?”

The room went completely silent. Even Damien’s friends, who had been laughing seconds before, swallowed hard.

Sweat broke from faces and confusion ran through the mind of everyone.

For most people they thoughts that they had heard wrong.

They all knew Ethan, for some people like Lena, even for most of their lives.

Damien had done his research about him. He's mother died, and even before then, they could barely afford to feed.

He was broke, and an easy peak for bullies. How could someone of such nature even serve the tables of Cole-linked talk less of being their guest.

Everyone that had mocked Ethan were suddenly shivering as a bucket of fear washed up all over their bodies.

Damien was most shocked. He stared at Ethan from head to toe, his plain dressing, there was definetly nothing powerful about him, it had to be a mistake and nothing more.

Damien’s lips curled into a snarl.

"You must have made a mistakes." Most of the members of the crowd nodded with affirmation to this statement.

Damien stepped forward, he needed to regain his pride and humilate Ethan by all means.

Damien’s face was red, pride shattering piece by piece. He tried to regain control. “You don’t know him! He’s a nobody! He tried to scam me!

He works shifts to be able to afford to head twice a day. To probe how useless he is, his girlfriend..." He drew Lena closer and kissed her.

"Dumbed him for me after seeing how useless he is!" He said with dripping pride before he continued.

"I don't know what he has told you but they are all lies, Ethan can never amount to anything in this life or beyond."

He expected Marcus to flinch but instead, another slap tore into his face, sending him stumbling back in his steps and thw eyes of the crowd popped from their sockets as gasps instantly filled the hall

Damien could not believe his eyes as his face burned bright red.

"Do you think I would mistake the highest level guest of Stafford.

Or I you trying to assume I have memory loss?"

"Contrary to what you think, Ethan is more powerful than you could ever be. A word from him and you would be as good as useless!" He sneered deeply.

He then called sharply. “Manager.”

The manager who had being standing at the corner shivered with fright.

All of these had happened in his presence and he was going to be blamed for it.

A man in a crisp suit hurried over, bowing low. Sweat ran down his temple. His hands trembled slightly.

“Sir,” he said. “Yes, sir?”

Marcus didn’t move his gaze from Damien. “Explain this. Why was a Cole-linked guest treated like this? Why was he forced to endure such humiliation in front of the entire hall?”

The manager stammered. “I… I… I’m sorry, sir. It was—”

“Enough,” Marcus snapped. “You failed. This is unacceptable. You will ensure proper treatment immediately, and anyone involved faces consequences.”

The hall was quiet. The manager instantly dropped to his feet and hearts dropped with him.

The hotel ranked close to big firm and yet, the manager had turned lilies livered before someone as powerful as Marcus.

The staff, the guests, even the guards, seemed to shrink under Marcus’s authority, all dropping to their knees. Some muttered prayers under their breath. Others simply froze, afraid to even blink.

Marcus turned slowly toward Ethan. His posture relaxed slightly. Respect, acknowledgment, power. All in one subtle movement.

He bowed slightly, just a hint. “I apologize, Prince Ethan. This should never have happened. Your dignity is restored.”

Ethan blinked, his silence carrying an edge for authority that Marcus interpreted for anger that needed to be appeased.

The room shivered. People knelt. Staff bowed low. Some even crawled slightly in reverence. Damien froze, still trying to process the scene.

Marcus didn’t stop there. His eyes went back to the guards. “Secure him. Remove Damien and Lena. Lock them up. Make sure they receive the punishment they deserve. They humiliated someone who should never be humiliated.”

Damien’s eyes widened. He looked around frantically, his pride cracking like fragile glass. “Marcus… you can’t—”

“I can,” Marcus said, voice smooth, deadly. Calm. Final.

Damien swallowed hard, nobody had ever humilated him in such a manner before, not when is company, his family, his Uncle had independent power.

“No… no… Even Cole-linked power cannot touch me. My family… my connections… My uncle—he’s strong. He has influence in the company. Real influence. You wouldn’t dare to touch me.

For your information, my Uncle works in Cole-linked, he has a special connection with the owner of the company and would soon take over your place.

What do you think would happen when he finds out that you're mistreating me over some, lowlife?" He growled, anger slithering through each words.

Marcus paused. His frown deepened and his eyes sharpened. The silence in the room was suffocating.

He took a slow step closer. His voice low, steady, slicing the tension clean.

“Is that so…”

"Well don't you tell me what this name of your Uncle is again?" He inquired.
