“Stole from you?” Ethan was stunned, as he never expected her to say such a thing. Wasn't it hilarious? This ring was given to him just today by that mysterious woman, yet Charlotte had to act like she had seen it before.
How and why?
The securities frowned as they looked over at him, their eyes revealing how disgusted they were.
“How dare you hurt an elderly woman and steal from her? Do you know there are consequences for such actions?” one of the guards sneered.
“That’s not true. I only came here to make some transactions with the bank. This woman came looking for trouble with me.” Ethan explained quickly since the men looked like they might rain punches at him and also use their electric batons to hurt him.
“Hahahaha, this loser is indeed very useless. Can a nobody like you have a business with such a prestigious bank? Do you think it's similar to that wretched bar you are working in? Wake up to reality, trash!” Charlotte, who was holding her back, pretending to be in severe pain, suddenly prostrated back to normal as she harrumphed.
“Even if you want to dream big, don't you think it should end on the street instead?” Fiona chirped in.
As expected, no one believed him. In fact, they took it as him blowing air just to save himself.
“This bank is the largest in the city. To be able to even be eligible for a bronze card, a customer must have at least one million dollars in their account.” Charlotte continued.
“There are platinum cards, diamond cards, and supreme black cards. The higher the deposit, the higher the level will be. Owning such a card is like a symbol of status from the Bank. Now tell me, which of them do you think someone of your caliber can get?” Fiona joined in.
“Perhaps if there was a card named the loser card or the trash card, he might own that one.” Charlotte mocked and there was a rain of laughter from not just Fiona but the securities too.
“Look, Logan Hale has gotten us a bronze card. Something you can never achieve in your life!” She continued and pulled out a platinum card from her bag before showing it off to him.
A grin was plastered on both her and Fiona's faces as they were enjoying the whole thing.
After all, he was only a loser who could offer them nothing. But Logan was different. He was able to offer them a card that had more than a million-dollar minimum balance in it. That was a heaven apart from what Ethan could ever make or give in his entire life.
Having heard all their ridicule, Ethan's face darkened. If he was correct, the black card seems to be the highest among all those bronze cards. If that was the case, there was no reason to hold back. He dipped his hand into his pocket and picked the black card he was given earlier.
“What are you trying to bring out? Don't tell me you still have pride until now?” Fiona questioned.
Ignoring her, he pulled it out and showed it off in the air. At once, everyone's face paled.
Seeing the symbol on the card, the securities felt like they had been hit with several bolts of lightning. The symbol signified that the card had a minimum of one billion dollars. This wasn't something just anyone could have.
This man, who was he? Have they infuriated someone they shouldn't have?
Both Charlotte and Fiona were now looking so pale, like they had been caught on their tongues.
“Young man, you really do have a black card?” one of the security guards asked while trying to process the shock.
Seeing this, Charlotte and Fiona knew that they had to do something, or else the mud would be rubbed on their faces.
Also, it didn't make sense that this son-in-law of hers would be the owner of such a card. Never.
“Hahaha, officer don't let this man fool you. He has been a thief since I knew him, and I am sure that he must have stolen that card. He was my son-in-law after all so I know him more than anyone else.” She said quickly.
“That's true. We thought we could change him and have him let go of such a habit, but it seems we are wrong. This brother-in-law of mine keeps disgracing us.” Fiona added and faked a frown like she was actually sad.
The guards looked at them and seemed confused. Does this mean the card was really stolen?
If he kept pretending that he owned the card and was found then he could be killed. That was to show how important this card was. It was strong enough to decide one's fate.
At this point, Ethan was hopping mad. What was wrong with these people? Do they always have false accusations to counter him or what?
“I didn't obtain this card illegally. Can you stop accusing me? You said it yourself that it's such a significant card. Won't I be found by now if I had stolen it?” Though his explanation seemed logical they saw it as him trying to sugarcoat his way out.
“Hmph!” Charlotte and Fiona huffed. They obviously didn't believe him. He must have participated in some fraud or theft, or else there could be no explanation for him to have such a card.
Both of them were worried about being implicated by him since he had been living under the same roof as them for a while now, but since Amelia had divorced him, that meant they had cut ties with him. Even if he was traced, they had nothing to do with him.
At once, both of them looked at the securities again.
“What are you waiting for? Are you going to let this thief keep carrying a stolen card around?” Charlotte questioned them.
“Remember that if he is traced down here and it becomes known that both of you let him off, not only will you lose your jobs, but it will seem like you are his accomplices. Grab him at once,” she added.
“That’s right. We don't mind helping you guys. Let's catch the thief. Who knows, we might be rewarded by the real owner later on. After all, it's such an important card.” Fiona joined in, and immediately they all turned to look at Ethan, ready to jump on him.

The truth they can't deny
“Is that enough proof for both of you, or do you know any other person that Ava would speak to like this?” Ethan asked and none of the men standing in front of him could provide an answer. “Cat suddenly got both of your tongues or you just lost your ability to speak all of a sudden?” Ethan asked again, after a long stretch of silence. Mike and Ross were still trying to come to realization with what they just heard, there is no doubt about it, everything from the sound of her voice to the things she said were convincing enough, because according to Gideon, their leader, it was Miss. Ava that called and informed him about Ethan’s involvement not the HR, which was quite weird or rather unusual. But the group had all brushed it off as Miss. Ava tried to pass information to Gideon himself, given how valuable he had become to the company instead of passing information through intermediaries or middlemen in the organization. “No one comes to mind,” Ross answered Ethan’s earlier question,
proof of power
“Get off your high horse boy, what the fuck did you mean by ‘your goods’? Do you know what it means if one of these goods isn’t properly packaged when we deliver it?” Ross questioned angrily, trying to find a way to arrange the crate into its proper way. But there was no way they will return it to the way it once was. “That’s a very huge contrast to the good boy slash personality that I was thinking you will have based on my first impression of you,” Ethan said, facing Ross with the same chilling cold look. Ross turned to face him, deep lines of fury had been etched on his forehead, his eyes were blazing with fury, all common sense or reasoning had been thrown out of the window, he couldn’t see what was right in front of him, what exactly it was that had rendered his partner-in-crime silent. “What the hell are you spewing?” Ross questioned, rising to his feet. The fact that Ethan or rather Jox like he knew Ethan to be was not admitting that he had done something wrong and apologiz
The rookie who saw too much
Ethan’s instincts were screaming something else entirely. It destroyed the confusion that had taken root in his mind. ‘Gay? That’s the best excuse that they can come up with?’ Ethan pushed the chair he was seated on backwards. “Give me a minute, I will be back, I have something to pick up, I think I forgot it in the vehicle.” Before he could rise to his feet, Gideon reached forward and grabbed his hand, “Hold on, rookie. Miss. Ava said, " I should show you the ropes. This lunch break is my only opportunity to teach you about the rules. Whatever it is that you want, Sam can pick it up for you.” Ethan’s mask had been taken off to eat, so Gideon could see the slow change of Ethan’s facial expression. “I don’t believe that, you had other times to tell me about these rules while on the drive down here, and I am pretty sure that you can tell me when we resume the drive,” Ethan replied, trying to pull his hand away from Gideon’s grip, but the latter tightened it. “I didn’t have time to
The break before the storm
The security guys set upon the road, all of them with their masks on their faces. Sam and Doe were the ones driving the truck, while the remaining people were in another car behind, a black Cadillac escort vehicle. Ethan was in the back passenger seat with The Big Guy and Ross, while Mike was driving the car with Gideon occupying the front passenger seat. Nothing eventful happened throughout the first 30 minutes of the drive, the only thing that happened, which didn't really mean much, was that the escort vehicle drove forward. It wasn't like he was expecting anything that really matters to happen, though. Until Gideon finally spoke. All through the interactions and laughter that had been going on among the other men in the vehicle, he didn't interfere with them or join them. “Pull over.”Ethan kept his cool and remained as he should have been, but deep down he couldn't help but wonder why Gideon had asked Mike to pull over. The latter did so without hesitation. He pulled over
The big guy
“I am Jax Addams. I am among the security staff at the headquarters. Sincerely, I only received a call from Miss. Ava last night that I am to join the escort vehicles from now on and should no longer be joining the security at headquarters again till further notice,” Ethann said to Gideon, placing both of his hands behind his back. “This is the first time that headquarters would be moving security from there to other places,” Gideon said, tilting his head slightly to the side as he reached into his back pocket to pull out a pack of cigarettes. He tapped on the bottom of the pack a couple of times until one popped up through a hole at the top of the pack. He pulled it out completely and placed it between his lips, then he turned the pack to Ethan. Ethan shook his head to reject the offer, “I think you are wrong, though, because I have had a couple of people I call brothers moved from there for no reason to other units or branches.” “Damn, I had no idea that such things do happen,”
The new recruit
Ethan stood in front of the cars in his garage, quite curious about which to ride, he finally settled on his car with the old paint and beat-up-looking body. With a nod, he walked back into the building and picked up the key, then returned to the garage, where he got into the car. The goal was not to draw any attention to himself, even if he were to draw any attention to himself, it doesn’t have to be loud or anything apart from the fact that he is a newbie. He looked at the rearview mirror and pulled down the mask on his face. He was completely dressed in the kit that Ava had provided to him this morning. He had expected her to send someone with it, instead, she brought it herself. It felt like she wanted to discuss something, but for some reason she couldn’t let it out. Ethan was curious as he ignited the engine of the car, then drove onto the asphalt. Since when was the mighty, courageous, and extremely bold Ava shy to mention something? He shook the thought from his head. Th
