Ethan froze, and a wry smile appeared on his face as he tried to understand what was going on. His wife, whom he had invested his effort, given his support, and loved even more than himself, after getting promoted, felt like he was no longer fit to be her husband.

Then it was this man, this scion of the Hale family, that was now her class since he was rich and classy.

“Punk, don't think too much about it. You don't even deserve such beauty like her. Look at you; you look like those beggars on the street. How do you intend to polish her lifestyle?” Logan stepped in and spoke discriminatingly.

“Look, divorce her, and I can buy you an Audi car so you can become a Didi driver. I am sure you'll make better money over here than here,” he continued.

Ethan looked at him, and anger flared up inside him. He clasped the towel in his hand. His teeth were gritted tightly.

This man had the guts to ridicule him because his wife gave him the opportunity to. So this is what he gets, huh?

He ignored Logan and looked at Amelia. “Is this what you really want?” he asked to be certain. If this was what she wanted, there was no need to force her lest he turn into her enemy as time went on.

“Yes. This is what I want.” Amelia replied, staring deeply into his eyes.

He smiled bitterly before grabbing a pen she dropped for him. Then he scanned the document only to see she had already signed her part. Her mind had been made up indeed.

Without further hesitation, he signed the papers before handing them to her.

Seeing this, Amelia froze. Something twitched inside her, and for a brief moment, she felt like it was her loss. She kept staring at his signature, feeling conflicted, when Logan walked over and picked it up.

“Now your wife is mine. If I see you anywhere around her, I will chop your legs off.” He warned before sliding his hand around Amelia's waist.

“Let’s go, baby.” He pulled her towards him and began to lead her away. She flashed one last stare at Ethan before looking away and walking off.

Ethan watched them, still sad. Now he had seen how important money and status were to a man. His wife of three years had left him on their day of anniversary. Such a wicked fate indeed.

As the feeling was consuming him on the inside, he suddenly remembered that lady who came earlier claiming he was some young master or perhaps a chairman of some group.

“I forgot to ask for her name.” He sighed and pushed the towel away. His thoughts wandered to the card and ring she gave him earlier. She did say the pin was his birthday date, right? If that was true, then it was time to test it.

He suddenly felt the urge to, and this made him wrap things up quickly. Thereafter, he checked in with the manager before boarding a cab and driving over to Nile City Central Bank.

When he walked up to the entrance, he looked up at the several floors of the bank. His heart began to palpitate inside his chest—he was extremely nervous.

But now, he was here already, so there was no going back. He inhaled deeply and was about to walk in when he heard a feminine voice.

“Ethan? Is that you? What is your wretched self doing in a place like this?”

He looked over only to see his mother-in-law Charlotte, and her second daughter, Fiona, walking towards him. Both of them had a mocking look on their faces as they sized him up.

“Oh, I heard my sister divorced you,” Fiona said sarcastically.

“He has been the one dragging her, so of course she had to dump him. Look, he is nothing but a trash bag. He can never be comparable to Logan Hale.” Charlotte added.

“You should go home and pack your things. It isn't like you have anything of value, but still go and take them out. Your belongings are like a bad omen to us.” She added.

“Or else we will pile it up and burn them up.” Fiona chirped in ruthlessly.

Ethan sighed. He hadn't gotten a break from what happened between him and Amelia yet he had her mother and sister to deal with.

He decided to ignore them and walked in when Charlotte grabbed him by the hand.

“Where do you think you are going? A lowly punk like you dares to walk out on me?” she sneered.

However, just then, she noticed a mysterious ring on his finger. Her eyes immediately squinted at it.

“Where did you get this ring from?” She asked. Though the ring didn't look fancy or like it had any value, she was sure he stole it.

Ethan hissed and immediately snatched his hand away. A frown emerged on his face as he retorted.

“It's none of your business.”

“None of my business? How dare you steal from my daughter? Do you think you will go scot-free? Over my dead body, you ugly punk.” Charlotte's face scrunched up into a frown.

She was ready to take it out on him since he wasn't complying and acting so rude and arrogant in front of her when he was nothing but a bottom feeder.

“Fiona, come, let’s teach this punk a lesson. He thinks he can leech off us and get away,” she fumed in rage and immediately attacked him.

Bang!

However, seeing how she jumped at him, Ethan was stunned, andat the same time, irritated. Does this woman not know when to stop? Frowning, he dodged her attack, and she stumbled to the front before falling on her face.

Thud!

The impact created a dull sound, and her face was immediately covered with dirt from the floor.

“What did you do to my mom?” Fiona's eyes widened, and she panicked.

“You, how dare you dodge?” Charlotte felt embarrassed as she found herself in an awkward position. She looked up, only to see Ethan standing there, unfazed, and he wasn't even looking in her direction.

She nearly exploded.

Anger coursed through her veins, and she yelled out.

“Guards! Guards! Help me. This man attacked me just now and stole a ring from me!”

Ethan and Axel were shown the way out of the building through another door so they didn't have to meet any guests on their way out.Axel let out a sigh as the cool night breeze collided with her skin."I had such a swell time tonight." She smiled at Ethan but before he could respond to her, her phone buzzed loudly in her purse and she fumbled with her purse for a few seconds before bringing her phone out."Hello,”"Oh okay, shoot. Uhmm... I will be there in ten minutes." Her tone shifted as she answered to the person at the other end of the call"Sounds like you have to be somewhere else this minute." Ethan concluded from the words she said on the call and Axel pouted with a sad frown. "Yeah, emergency meeting." She replied."Thank you for tonight. If you hadn't told me about the auction, I might not have gotten the unique ring." Ethan said with appreciation. "It was my pleasure." Axel smiled brightly. "I hope to see you around." "Certainly." Ethan replied as the most convenient th

Ethan was surprised by the way Orion spoke to him and referring to him as 'young master'He knew that Orion was a person of influence and he looked forward to meeting him but he would've laughed at anyone who told him that Orion would one day refer to him with such respect.Ethan wanted to act modest and reject the offer but he also wanted to escape the many eyes that were boring holes in his face. Plus, Orion already told him not to reject his offer.Axel tagged along as Ethan followed Orion. The guests were still stunned by what just happened in front of them. Their gazes were still pinned on him as he walked away from the crowd into the VIP section."Oh my God, he truly isn't an ordinary man!""I think we made a mistake. We accused him wrongly.""We should apologise before he comes for us too!""To think that Logan was all talk and no action? I regret hyping him up!" The sidetalks continued until they died down and a fresh set of noises resumed in the VIP section. There were fewer

“Payment successful?” Both Logan and Amelia gasped, their eyes almost falling out of their sockets. Not just them but everyone in the hall too. Did Ethan's fake card just go through with the payment of five hundred million?Wait…that meant the card was actually authentic or what? The card was the real deal? And what was more, how could a bum be able to pay five hundred million? Something a lot of families wouldn't be able to afford.Even the Hale family was worth two billion dollars. It wouldn't make sense if they took one quarter of their entire worth to buy a mere ring, right? At this point, nothing feels right anymore. If a bum like this could be so rich, then the balance of the world might have been altered. Someone was definitely tampering with the law of heaven or the world, perhaps. “Someone, anyone, explain to me how this trash owns a black card and can pay for the item?” Logan was close to losing his mind.“That card has to be fake. The payment has to be wrong. You have to

  • Payment successful!

Hmph! At this moment, everyone looked at Ethan and huffed. Not even Axel, a senior staff member from the bank, will be able to save him. He was busy throwing his weight around without realizing the consequences of it? What a joke!He even had the guts to go against Logan? A scion from a powerful family? Of course Ethan was doomed. No one could save him now, not even the heavens.“Come on, punk, you don’t think you’ll escape, do you? Now pay up. Let’s see how you can fork out five hundred million dollars since you have the guts to call it so casually like it’s something a bum like you can have at will.” Logan sneered. In fact, he didn’t care to reveal what his intentions had been, as already, Ethan had foolishly fallen for it.“Let me tell you, even a rich scion like me wouldn’t dare to go to such an extent—buy a useless ring worth such an amount of money. I was only saying those prices to lure you in, and it seems you fell for it! Hahahahaha, what a wastrel.” He added.“Perhaps he f

Everyone looked in the direction of who spoke, at most expecting that perhaps a big shot might have walked in while they were so engrossed with the event, but to their surprise, who they saw was Ethan.Ethan? The worthless junk dared to even stand up on his chair and bid such an amount? Was he perhaps nuts, or had he lost his mind already? What the heck was this?“Did Axel tell him to speak up, or what?” Logan thought to himself as it didn’t make sense that Ethan would sanely stand up to bid on such an item from his pocket when he was worth only a few bucks, down to nothing. But right after the thought crossed his mind, a mischievous smile followed. The reason was that, due to the laws of the auction set by Orion Asher, the bidder and the payer must be the same person. That meant you would have to pay for the item you bided and not get someone else to come to your rescue.Since Ethan was bidding for this item, he had to be the one to pay for it. It seems he didn’t know of this rule; t

Does this punk have a death wish or what? Everyone looked at him only to find a smug expression on his face. Did he perhaps think that this place was a roadside stall where he could get some cheap goods and flaunt his stupidity, or what?Logan was more provoked than anyone else. Does this man know when not to step on his nerve, or does he not like the fact that he still has teeth in his mouth? Does he want to lose them or what?“Let’s see how you’ll take the ring from me,” Logan said with a threatening tone as he sternly stared at Ethan.Whereas, the guests already knew Ehan was broke and could afford nothing. By the time the main event commenced, they would see where he was going to hide his face. Everyone saw him as an eyesore and they began to gossip about him.“Hello ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats as the auction is about to start immediately.”However, just then, a man in a suit walked up to the main stage holding a mic as he addressed the crowd. He was the auctionee
