“Payment successful?” Both Logan and Amelia gasped, their eyes almost falling out of their sockets. Not just them but everyone in the hall too. Did Ethan's fake card just go through with the payment of five hundred million?

Wait…that meant the card was actually authentic or what? The card was the real deal? And what was more, how could a bum be able to pay five hundred million? Something a lot of families wouldn't be able to afford.

Even the Hale family was worth two billion dollars. It wouldn't make sense if they took one quarter of their entire worth to buy a mere ring, right?

At this point, nothing feels right anymore. If a bum like this could be so rich, then the balance of the world might have been altered. Someone was definitely tampering with the law of heaven or the world, perhaps.

“Someone, anyone, explain to me how this trash owns a black card and can pay for the item?” Logan was close to losing his mind.

“That card has to be fake. The payment has to be wrong. You have to check it again. I am not going to believe this even a single bit.” Amelia said right after, shaking her head in disbelief.

She had known Ethan for how long now? More than three years! This man worked in a bar and lived below average. He was poor. He earned only a few bucks in a month.

In fact, even if he had been saving a thousand dollars for three years, there was no way it could be up to five hundred million dollars. That was his monthly salary, so how come?

Where did the five hundred million come from?

“Tch, such a joke. You keep looking down on him when you actually don't know what he is made of? You both are nitwits indeed.” Axel sneered in disgust as she looked at both of them.

Ethan smiled before he chirped in. “Mr. Mc, by the rules of this auction, I think I will be regarded as a golden member by now since I can pay for such an item.”

Though Ethan hadn't been to an auction before, he had seen a thing or two before. Buying an item for such a heavy amount had some exclusive privileges. He was sure of it.

The MC was forced to snap back to reality as he was also shocked that the payment went through. All this while he had been staring at the payment terminal without saying anything.

Only after Ethan spoke did he snap out of it.

“Ooh yes, you are now a golden member, sir.”

“Good.” Ethan nodded his head. “So are you going to let these two people talk to me rudely and treat me like I am of the same caliber as them?” His face scrunched up into a frown as he spoke seriously and pointed at Logan and Amelia.

The MC looked over at them and shivered all over. What Ethan said was right. He was yet to give out his order when a voice roared.

“What are you waiting for? Send those idiots out at once!”

The voice held so much aura and power that it felt like it shook the entire place. Everyone was startled, and when they looked in the direction, they saw the host of the invent- Orion Asher. It suddenly felt like the room became hot as such a prestigious man had just walked in.

Seeing this, Logan decided to use the opportunity to make things right, as he felt whoever Orion was referring to at first was actually Ethan and Axel.

“Excuse me, sir.” He didn't dare be arrogant in front of this man. Even the head of his family wouldn't dare to offend him, not to mention someone like him.

“That man over there dared to run a scam in your auction. It's a good thing that you came over so you can—”

Smack!

He wasn't done with his words when a heavy slap was hurled at his face, forcing him to choke back the remaining words.

The world suddenly felt upside down as the weight of the slap made him see stars. He held his cheeks as a burning pain coursed through his system.

“Moses, I won't warn you again. Ask the guards to drag him and that woman out!” Orion roared in anger again right after.

Now it was evident to whom he was referring. He even slapped someone from the Hale family all because of Ethan?

“Boss, I am sorry, I'll do that right away!” Moses, the MC, said apologetically before he turned to the guards. “What are you waiting for? Send these two idiots out!”

He gave out the order.

At once two guards rushed in from nowhere. One held Amelia, who was still frozen trying to figure out what was going on, while the other went on to start dragging Logan out.

Ethan was stunned. This was the first time he was meeting this man he had seen a couple of times on TV. Yet, somehow he was thoughtful enough not to side with those airheads.

He had even slapped Logan just now. Something he had been meaning to do for a while now.

“Sir, you are mistaken; that person there is the clown, but not me. You should be sending him out, but not me.” Logan was embarrassed but, what was more, very furious.

How could they mistake Ethan for him? That was an insult to not just him but the Hale family too.

“Revoke his membership too. Never let him or her into an auction hosted by me.” Orion was still furious as he spoke again. Then he looked at Logan, who was almost dragged out of the place.

“You should close your mouth now before I take this to the Hale family mansion and ask them to give me a proper explanation for such dog-like behavior.” He warned, and at once Logan's mouth was forced shut even though it was against his will.

If his family were involved, then not only would he be punished, but he would also have to face the consequences for offending such a man. Though he already had, if he were to pursue the matter further, it could get worse.

Soon the guard dragged him out and then Amelia too. The hall was still quiet when Orion turned to Ethan. A smile suddenly curled up on his face.

“Young master, please, can I invite you to the VIP section for some good wine? I need to properly apologize for what just happened.”

As though afraid that Ethan might reject him, he quickly added.

“Please don't reject my offer.”
