Magic Duel Arc: Chapter 13. Artemsia vs Demonlise.

Artemsia and Demonlise are facing each other.

With the magic officially beginning Artemsia wastes no time and casts <gust> earth elemental magic.

Three 20 feet golems made out of rocks moving directly toward Demonlise for an attack.

Demonlise stares smirking at the golems seemingly unphased by the attack.

"What a nice trick"-Demonlise said.

Demonlise, then waves his left arm slightly as a countermeasure...

Then the golems turned to fine dust as a result.

The crowd is speechless at what they just saw.

" Three golems gone?" "With just a single wave of his hand?"

"WOW, WHAT A GREAT OPENING ARTEMSIA GAVE HERSELF A NUMBERS ADVANTAGE BY CREATING THREE EARTH GOLEMS, HOWEVER, DEMONLISE DESTROYED ALL OF THEM WITH JUST A SINGLE WAVE OF HIS HAND"-The commentator announces.

Valoran, who is carefully observing the match, is also impressed.

" Not bad indeed, not anyone could take out three golems just like that, especially a first-year student. It's clear he had prior training in magic"-Valoran thought to himself.

Then a shadow appears to the side of Valoran caused by a person walking up to him.

Valoran looks at the person and realises it's Merial.

"Is this seat taken?"-She asks with a smile.

Valoran looks at her confused as to why she would sit with someone from a different academy but it wasn't forbidden to do so, so Valoran allows her to sit next to him.

"No. Feel free to sit here"-Valoran replied.

Selina, Biatrix and Atticus look at each other with confusion but don't give it much thought since they are focused on watching the duel.

" Merial, what kind of a person is he? His powers are far beyond any 1st year"-Valoran asked.

"To be honest they are far more powerful than any student, not just the first year even the teachers couldn't hold a candle to him in terms of raw power. I can see that by his aura that he is trying to hide from everyone"-Valoran thought to himself.

Merial strokes her chin and thinks about the question.

" Demonlise is not someone I am acquainted with. I did hear rumours of a first-year excelling in all the exams"-Merial answered.

Valoran wasn't surprised by this; he knew the power Demonlise has is great.

"I see"-Valoran replied.

Back in the arena.

"I am impressed you managed to effortlessly destroy the golems"-Artemsia said with confidence.

"Let me show you some great magic"-Demonlise replied.

Demonlise's deep blue eyes light up and explosions start to occur all around Artemsia.

"My eyes have the ability to cast forms of magic. For this case my eyes cast extert (explosion magic) at anything I want to be destroyed"-Demonlise replied.

"He's able to cast magic with his eyes alone... other than me no other non-divine being can do that"-Valoran thought to himself.

Valoran is still trying to figure out where he gained all that power and skill.

"I doubt he is only a human...there is something familiar about him"-Valoran thought to himself.

" WOW WHAT A GREAT MATCH WE NOW SEE EXPLOSION AFTER EXPLOSION CAUSED BY DEMONLISE. WHAT GREAT POWER"-The commentator said, filled with excitement.

Atticus faces Valoran..."Do you think she will be alright?"-Valoran asked with concern in his voice.

Valoran smirked a little and chuckled. "Don't worry this won't even put a hair stain out of place"-Valoran replied.

Each explosion is much stronger than the previous one now to the point where each explosion has such force that the entire arena starts to shake and fall apart.

The crowd as a response becomes concerned. " This is getting out of control"

"Should we leave while it's still safe?" -The crowd asks each other with fear and concern.

After 88 explosions, Demonlise stops and closes his eyes, reopening them, his eyes turned back to a lesser blue colour.

The explosion caused dirt to cover the arena which limits the view and state of Artemsia.

Merial faces Valoran who looks not the least concerned. "Strange as the team captain shouldn't he be concerned after all this was a powerful and dangerous attack"-She thought to herself with confusion.

"Selina and Biatrix also don't seem to be concerned about her well-being."-Merial thought to herself.

"I wonder how powerful this woman is"-Merial asks herself with curiosity.

Before Merial could think any further she feels a strong gust of wind is snapping her out of her thoughts.

" What's that?"-Merial asked.

Valoran faces her "Just wind magic to clear the arena from all the dust"-Valoran said.

Facing the arena Artemsia is unharmed not even a single strain of her has been moved.

"UNBELIEVABLE! AFTER ALL THOSE EXPLOSIONS ARTEMSIA IS NOT HURT IN THE SLIGHTEST."-The commentator shouts full of energy.

Merial faces Valoran and the others who focus on the match " I guess his lack of concern is warranted. Being able to tank that many explosions without a magic barrier is quite impressive" -Merial thought to herself.

Back at the arena.

"Withstanding all my explosions with no injury is indeed impressive"-Demonlise said with a smirk.

"Well thank you. Shall we continue our little dance?"-Artemsia replied with a smirk of her own.

Demonlise casts Helios (further advanced fire elemental magic).

A giant stream of fire is heading toward Artemsia in combination with Demonlise casting Lorian (wind magic) that turns the sea of fire dark blue.

" These flames can burn down the indestructible, not even your magic resistance can withstand those blue flames. I've also added negation magic, chaos magic and destruction magic within those flames"-Demonlise said.

" That's quite a feat. Casting magic like that usually takes three advanced mages to combine their magic power, by transferring all their magic into one mage to cast these advanced spells. It's not impossible to cast these complex spells by yourself, however, it leaves the user at risk of injuring themselves as these spells are difficult to control. Furthermore, it leaves your fragment drained of magic power. The fact he can cast it by himself and amplify the effects by adding Lorian (wind elemental magic), as well as other powerful magic, shows his power and knowledge"-Valoran thought to himself.

The Arena emits a sea of blue flames. The entire crowd is taken by the beauty of these flames.

"Such beautiful flames" "It's a piece of art" "I've never seen flames this beautiful before"-The crowd say to each other in amazement at what they see.

" WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SCENE OF A OCEAN OF BLUE FLAMES!"-The commentator commentates in excitement.

In these blue flames, a shadow walked through them. It is Artemsia who is once again not hurt in the slightest.

" My my...does anything work on you woman"-Demonlise asked in a mocking tone.

"Not to brag but those tricks of yours don't phase me in the least."-Artemsia said.

With that Artemsia snapped her fingers which instantly blew out the ocean of the blue fire.

" Let's kick it up a notch"-Demonlise said.

"Bring it on."-Artemsia replied.

Artemsia casts (licht advanced light magic) hundreds of powerful beams of light directly head for Demonlise.

Demonlise dodges and uses his sword to deflect some of the beams of light.

"WHAT INCREDIBLE SPEEDS SHOWN FROM DEMONLISE DODGING ALL THESE LIGHT ATTACKS ''-The commentator says.

He then closes the gap and heads for Artemsia at speed light.

Artemsia uses taslan (creation magic) and creates a sword and blocks Demonlise strike.

The shockwave created by the clash was so powerful that the arena's inner walls started to split open and crack.

The crowd begins to panic and some even leave the arena.

"Let's leave, we cannot stay here" "These two are too powerful" -Some of the crowd says to each other in a state of panic.

The arena was enchanted with restor (restoration magic).

This allows the arena to repair itself even from the greatest of damages in a matter of a minute.

Now Artemsia and Demonlise are engaged in a ferocious sword battle.

The speeds at which both of them move are so fast that they move at the speed of light clashing hundreds of times in a tenth of a second.

Due to those speeds, they are invisible to anyone but Valoran himself.

"I can't keep up with them"-Selina, Biatrix and Atticus say to each other.

Merial was able to semi-keep up with them.

" They move faster than light"-Merial thought to herself.

"Not just powerful but also just as fast it seems"-Valoran thought to himself.

" You can keep up with me?... Not surprised by that, to be honest with you"-Demonlise said to Artemsia while engaged in the fight.

"Is that all you got?" -Artemsia asked mockingly.

After a while, Artemsia kicked him in the chest and Demonlise is sent flying into the arena walls.

" You are powerful, but your swordsmanship and magic are still not yet refined"-Artemsia said.

"WHAT A GREAT HIT BY ARTEMSIA"-The commentator commentates in excitement.

" Demonlise has more power and more training than any student, however, the difference is that Artemsia is much more experienced and skilled and the magic power of Demonlise is also not on par with Artemsia"-Valoran thought to himself.

"Your magic is great and your swordsmanship is excellent but far from perfection" -Artemsia said to Demonlise holding out the tip of her sword in the direction toward Demonlise.

"It seems you are more skilled and faster than me Artemsia."-Demonlise says getting back on his feet.

"Let's drop the restraints a little"- Demonlise said to Artemsia.

" Show me what you got"-Artemsia replied.

Demonlise reaches out his arm and very slowly clenches his hand into a fist.

As he is doing so the space around Artemsia begins to close in on her.

"What is that?"-Atticus asked.

" The space around her begins to close in on her like a being inside a square that becomes smaller and smaller"-Biatrix says.

"What kind of magic would allow him to do that?"-Selina asked with curiosity.

" He somehow bends an area of space down to his will"-Merial answered.

"Aren't you a clever one?"-Valoran asked with sarcasm.

" You are somewhat correct but there is much more to that."-Valoran explained.

"Would you please tell us?" -Merial asked.

"Of course. Demonlise destroys the laws of the world, he destroys the core principles and fundamentals around Artemsia and by doing so he can warp the dimension around Artemsia trapping her in a dimensional cage."-Valoran explained.

" Woah that's...I never knew that something like this was possible"-Merial says in disbelief.

"Valoran, how can anyone do this? "-Atticus asks.

Valoran thought to himself. " Yes, I share the same curiosity with Atticus. No mortal can transcend and destroy laws. I admit it's not even close to my level but it's still very much curious. Could he be....?"

Valoran is being snapped out of his thoughts by Biatrix, "Valoran what are you thinking about?"-She asks.

" It's nothing"-Valoran replied.

Back to the duel, the space around Artemsia becomes less and less.

"ARTEMSIA IS QUICKLY RUNNING OUT OF SPACE WILL SHE FORFEIT OR WILL SHE BREAK FREE?"-The commentator says.

Artemsia then slashes her sword and breaks free from the Dimensional cage.

"I admit you are more powerful than I thought. "-Artemsia says.

"You were able to destroy the very principles of my dimensional warping power?"-Demonlise asks a little curious.

"I did yes"-Artemsia replied.

" I thought that your team captain would be the only one that could give me a challenge. I was wrong"-Demonlise said respectfully.

Demonlise stretches out his arm into the sky now the sky turns from sunny and bright blue to dark and stars start to be seen.

"What is happening?" How has day become night?"-The audience asks themselves in confusion.

"Cosmic Magic"-Merial said in amazement.

"Selina pays close attention this is the spell you failed at in your exam against the professor"-Valoran said.

Selina eagerly awaits for the spell to be cast.

Then star constellations can be seen in the night sky.

Demonlise casts Orion (cosmic magic).

The star constellation Orion starts to form in the night.

What happens next is a spectacle.

An Orion- star shaped giant cosmic energy blast is directly heading for Artemsia as well as thousands of powerful shots coming from each individual star-forming Orion.

The arena is damaged once again to the extent where some of the structure begins to collapse and as soon as the Orion-shaped energy blast hits Artemsia the entire arena is illuminated brighter than any star for a couple of seconds.

" It's so bright!" "My eyes" "I can't see anything"-The audience says to each other in confusion at what is going on.

" WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?! THE ARENA IS BRIGHTER THAN THE SUN ITSELF. CLOSE YOUR EYES EVERYONE"-The commentator said.

The light starts to fade away, the sky becomes right again...

Everyone begins to open their eyes again to see that Artemsia was not phased in the least.

"WHAT?! EVEN AFTER THAT POWERFUL ATTACK, ARTEMSIA STANDS THERE AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED"-The commentator said with shock.

Demonlise begins to chuckle... " I yield."-Demonlise says.

"What?" "Did he just say he's forfeiting the match" -The whole crowd says in shock.

"I can't go any further in power than I already have. Doing so would destroy the arena pretty easily"-Demonlise says.

" He's right, if he goes beyond the power he demonstrated, the Arena along with the audience would be wiped out."-Valoran thought to himself.

"IT'S OVER FOLKS ARTEMSIA IS THE WINNER BY DEMONLISE FORFEITING THE MATCH ''-The narrator says.

The crowd starts to cheer...

" YAYYYY." "ANOTHER GREAT DUEL" "It did have some risky moments" -The crowd says and yells toward each other.

Artemsia and Demonlise start walking toward each other and shake hands.

"You are a great mage" -Artemsia says with a smile.

"I am honoured to lose to a powerful mage myself"-Demonlise says with a smile on his face.

They shake hands.

" WHAT?!"-Demonlise and Artemsia think to themselves.

"She's a goddess?"- Demonlise thinks in confusion.

" He's a...
