Chapter 8

The next morning at the First Hospital, the rest of the Grey family had already left, leaving only Chloe and Joel behind.

Despite how the couple had tried to see their daughter, they were not given the chance until that morning.

They stared helplessly at their daughter, who was in a deep sleep.

"Please, get well soon, Bianca. I can't bear to see you in this condition," Chloe whispered, sniffing back tears.

Joel, who was next to his wife, patted her shoulder to console her. "Don't worry too much, Chloe. The doctors said she would be fine. Let's be hopeful."

"Okay, I hope so." Chloe rested her head on her husband's shoulder, her mind filled with thoughts.

Just then, Bianca coughed and her eyes slowly opened.

"Huh?! She's awake!"

"My daughter has finally opened her eyes!" Chloe exclaimed with joy.

"I told you she would be fine." Joel was happy to see his daughter recover as well.

Bianca stared at her surroundings, confused about where she was, until Chloe quickly explained.

"You must be wondering how you got here. It's a complicated story, but what matters is that you are awake." She was cautious about disclosing the full details to her.

"How are you feeling now, Bianca?" Joel quickly asked.

Bianca stretched and sat upright on the bed by herself before responding. "I feel better. I'm only having a slight headache."

"Sorry, my cupcake. By the time you get enough rest, the headache will clear up completely," Joel assured her.

Bianca nodded slowly and whispered, "Thank you, Daddy."

Chloe turned to her husband and said, "Why don't you ask the doctor when she will be discharged?"

"That's true. Father has also called me to ask about it."

Joel was about to turn to leave when Bianca suddenly stopped him.

"Wait, Daddy."

Bianca's face looked worried.

This was not for any reason other than hearing Joel mention his grandfather, Trent Grey.

He was the one who had forced her into the marriage with the Kims.

She knew his concern about her discharge was solely to ensure she was successfully tethered to the spoiled heir of the Kim family—a marriage in which she had no interest.

"What is it, Bianca?" Joel asked softly.

She looked her parents in the eyes and asked an unexpected question. "Mom, Dad, where is Jason?"

The couple was stunned.

They frowned, wondering why she was asking about him.

"Oh, you mean that troublemaker? We already sent him away last night, and I'm sure the Kim family must have caught him and given him the punishment he deserves."

"What?! Why did you send him away?!" Bianca shoved the blanket aside as she screamed at her parents.

Chloe and Joel exchanged a confused look.

"What do you mean by 'why'? Did you really expect us to keep a troublemaker with us?"

"Did you want us to share in the consequences of his actions?"

Chloe and Joel flooded Bianca with questions.

"Mom, Dad, what are you saying?! Do you want to deny that everything he did yesterday wasn't for me?!"

Bianca was not taking it lightly.

"You never sent him to cause such trouble! He did that of his own free will. Let him face the punishment alone," Chloe declared with no emotion.

Bianca was devastated to hear her parents say such things.

Realizing nothing she said would change their minds, she stood up and declared, "I'm going to look for him. I don't want to see anyone try to stop me."

"Rubbish!"

"What has gotten into your head?!"

"You want to look for who?!"

"A troublemaker?!"

Chloe and her husband instantly blocked Bianca's path. They were not about to let her leave.

Bianca was deeply frustrated and was about to burst past them when someone suddenly spoke from the entrance of the ward.

"Darling, you don't have to fight Mom and Dad. I have been here with you throughout the night, and I am going nowhere."

Joel and his wife could not believe the voice they had just heard.

Turning to discover it was Jason, the couple went livid.

"Didn't I warn you that I never wanted to see you again?!"

"What have you come here to do?!"

They were about to pounce on Jason when Bianca screamed, "Hold it!"

The room fell into a dead silence, and Chloe and Joel froze.

They watched as Bianca walked past them toward Jason with an unreadable expression.

"Darling..." Jason whispered sweetly as his wife walked closer.

He was about to take a step toward her when Bianca delivered a sharp slap to his face.
