Chapter 9

Instant confusion took over the room.

Jason held his face, stunned by what had just occurred.

Chloe and her husband exchanged looks of bewilderment as well.

They were astounded by their daughter's actions.

They had never expected it.

"Darling, what have I done to deserve such a hard slap?" Jason asked, confused.

"You really don't know what you did wrong? You were alive all these years and left me to suffer this much?"

"Do you have any conscience at all?" Pain laced Bianca's voice as she spoke.

Jason's expression turned somber, and he felt extremely disappointed in himself.

He knew how devastating the humiliation she had endured over the years was.

Jason wished he could turn back time to save her from those hardships.

Unfortunately, that was impossible.

But now that he had returned, humiliation would become a thing of the past.

Jason genuinely apologized to her, "I'm very sorry, darling. It was never my intention to leave you by yourself all those years. It was an unlucky fate. But now that I have returned, I promise to protect you with my life."

Bianca couldn't believe how her heart was melting.

Tears formed at the corners of her eyes.

She knew her husband would never have left her to suffer.

Had the heartless Scott family not set him up on their wedding night, they would have lived together happily all these years.

"Forgive me," Jason whispered again, moving closer to her.

Bianca felt her emotions overcome her as she rushed to Jason and hugged him tightly.

"I missed you so much, Jason," she murmured into his ear, tears streaming down her face.

"I missed you more, my love," Jason responded, holding her close.

Chloe and Joel, who had been watching the duo in confusion, broke the silence, immediately forcing them apart.

"Can someone tell me what is going on here?"

"Bianca, hurry up and explain to me!" Chloe's voice turned stern.

Bianca wiped the tears from her face with the back of her hand and linked her arm with Jason’s before answering.

"It's nothing, Mom. It's just a reunion of lovers."

"Rubbish!" Joel barked.

"Reunion? What are you saying? Have you forgotten so quickly that you are supposed to be marrying Mr. Kim Jr.?"

Bianca scoffed and looked at her father. "It is simple, Dad. The only reason I was forced to remarry was that my husband was missing. Why would I marry someone else now that he has returned?"

Chloe was dumbfounded. She couldn't believe what she was hearing, and she let out a cry of frustration.

"What are you saying, Bianca? Do you really want to reunite with a ghost?"

"Correction, Mom. My husband isn't a ghost. He fell into the trap of his enemies five years ago, and now he has returned, hale and healthy."

Even though Bianca had no idea how her husband had survived, her belief in his existence never wavered.

She spoke to her parents again.

"In case you doubt whether he is alive or not, have you ever heard of a ghost feeling the impact of a slap?"

Bianca pointed to the palm print on Jason's face to prove her point.

Joel and Chloe were at a loss for what to do.

They wouldn't have had a problem with her reuniting with Jason if he were the same successful business tycoon he had been five years ago.

But now, he was essentially a bum.

He was even foolish enough to bring trouble upon himself by hurting the golden child of the Kim family.

"I advise you to rethink your decision right now, Bianca. There is no way your mother and I will watch you reunite with this useless man!"

"Did you even think about how you will confront your grandfather? Have you forgotten why he agreed to this marriage in the first place?"

"That is no trouble for me, Dad. Leave it to me; I will handle it," Bianca declared flatly, leaving Joel devastated.

Jason's mind was filled with excitement as he watched his wife stand up for him.

Meanwhile, Chloe was deeply troubled. She couldn't understand why Bianca chose to be so stubborn.

Bianca remained adamant despite their attempts to change her mind.

They were in the middle of their argument when Bianca looked at her parents.

"Mom, Dad, since there is nothing else keeping us here, let's go to the reception to settle the bill and head home."

She was about to head out when Joel answered, "I asked about the bill, and I was told your treatment was completely free."

Bianca was taken aback.

"Free? Why? This is a VIP ward."

Joel explained, "The doctor refused to give a clear reason. But I do remember that the medical experts who came to your rescue mentioned that they were sent by the God of War."

"God of War? How is that possible, Dad?" Bianca exclaimed in confusion.

"I should be the one asking you that, Bianca. The God of War arrived in Estava yesterday, and not even Mr. Kim Sr. was able to meet him. So, how did you manage to get his favor?"

Bianca’s face creased further in confusion. "If this isn’t clear to you, how do you think I would understand it, Dad?"

This was about to lead to an argument when Jason cleared his throat and said to Bianca calmly, "Darling, you don’t have to be surprised that you have his favor, because I, your husband, am the God of War."
