Chapter 1

Around 6 p.m., the roar of a black military helicopter broke the calm sky above Estava’s local border.

Dust rose as it landed, shaking the ground.

When the door opened, a single boot stepped out with a heavy thump.

Then, a man appeared in a plain black top and army trousers.

The air around him was domineering, and his gaze was sharp enough to stop a heart.

His name was Jason Scott, the God of War of Veloria.

He had fought in over a thousand wars and never lost once.

Enemies trembled at the mention of his name.

Some did not even wait to fight; they took their own lives before he arrived at the front lines.

Jason had trained over a hundred thousand elite soldiers, forging them into five deadly regiments capable of crushing any army.

Because of him, Veloria lived in peace.

...

Staring at the ground, the overbearing God of War was overwhelmed by emotions as memories flooded his mind.

"After five years, I am finally back in Estava, the land where I was betrayed and nearly lost my life at the hands of enemies who disguised themselves as family," Jason muttered with gritted teeth and clenched fists.

Over twenty years ago, Jason was an orphan who slept on the streets until he was adopted by the Scotts.

Life was supposed to become livable for Jason after that.

Unfortunately, it was the opposite.

Not only did his adoptive parents, Timothy and Leah, treat him poorly, but the entire Scott family pushed him around as well.

Jason had no other option but to endure this humiliation.

Does a nobody even have options?

Life humbled the Scott family when Jason graduated at the top of his class from Estava University, far ahead of all their children.

It did not end there.

Jason's newly established business also soared, outpacing the Scott family business just a short period after he graduated.

This caused the Scott family to suffer sleepless nights, and their hatred for Jason intensified.

At that point, they saw Jason not just as a business rival, but as their greatest enemy.

For this reason, the Scott family began to plot his downfall.

However, despite all their tricks, Jason not only continued to overcome their plots, but his business also prospered beyond the Scott family's expectations.

This angered the Scott family and made them set their minds on killing Jason.

They determined it was the best option, as they would be able to take over his company after his death.

The Scott family chose to execute their plan on the night of Jason's wedding to Bianca Grey.

On his wedding night, they tricked Jason into getting drunk and pushed him into bed with one of their maids to make it appear as if they were intimate.

Bianca was tricked into entering the same room by the Scott family. As soon as his new wife saw the scene, she fainted.

It was at this point that the fog of drunkenness cleared from Jason's eyes, and he realized what had happened.

However, it was too late to explain anything to his wife.

Not only were the Greys furious when the news reached them, but they also warned Jason never to consider a reconciliation as they took their daughter away.

This broke Jason completely. He never expected the Scott family to pull such a dirty trick on his wedding day.

When Jason confronted them about their malice, shockingly, the Scotts did not deny it.

They even forced Jason onto the rooftop, pushed him off, and ensured he was dead before disposing of his body in the sea.

The Scott family then issued a public statement claiming that Jason could not contain his guilt and had ended his own life by jumping into the sea after being caught cheating on his wedding night.

Jason's fists tightened as the memories poured into his mind, and the image of the heartbreak on his wife's face that night haunted him.

A moment in their lives that was supposed to be their happiest had been turned into sorrow.

Jason learned how his wife had lived as a widow since he was declared dead, facing all sorts of humiliation from the Grey family because she refused to remarry.

Then, he vowed through clenched teeth, "Bianca, as I return today, I promise to give you the life you deserve. Whoever attempts to humiliate you will not only be put in their place, but they will regret their existence!"

"And for the Scott family and whosoever was involved in plotting my death, I promise to make you live in regret for the rest of your lives."

...

Just as Jason signaled for the helicopter to leave, a fleet of cars was seen approaching rapidly from a distance.

A long line of army trucks appeared, and the local border was instantly filled as they all came to a halt.

Jason frowned.

"Didn't I warn Nathan to keep my arrival a total secret? Where have these people come from?"

Jason would have landed at the international airport of Estava if he had wanted attention. He had chosen the local border to keep his arrival a total secret.

In a flash, all the soldiers in the vehicles rushed out and fell to their knees with their heads bowed.

"Welcome to Estava, God of War!"

Their voices echoed throughout the local border.

Jason swallowed as their voices rose, staring at them all icily.

Raising his head, Jason saw more luxurious cars approaching in the distance, fueling his anger.

Then, the army general of Estava, Nathan Steele, who led the group of soldiers, got to his feet, walked closer to Jason, and bowed deeply.

"My lord! We are so happy to see you return to your homeland!"

Without turning to look at Nathan, Jason asked, "Are these all the people who came to welcome me?"

Nathan instantly froze.

He was confused.

He knew the God of War didn't like attention, which was why he had arranged just these few thousand soldiers to welcome him.

Nathan was shocked that Jason was displeased with even the few soldiers he had brought.

Then, he quickly answered with great fear, "Y-yes, Sir! All the top families are here, too, including the wealthiest man in Estava."

"I will call for more..."

Nathan hadn't completed his statement when Jason turned to him and snapped, "Tell them all to scram! Now!"

Nathan's heart leapt in shock.

He sprinted into action and commanded every one of them to leave immediately.

Within the blink of an eye, the local border became empty as all the vehicles disappeared.

"Forgive me, my lord," Nathan pleaded with a deep bow.

However, Jason waved his hand to dismiss the matter before asking, "What's the news?"

Nathan's eyes remained fixed on the ground in respect as he answered.

"My lord, I'm afraid that your wife will be forced to marry Gabriel Kim tonight."

Jason's gaze instantly became murderous as the news hit him. His fists tightened as killing intent flashed across his eyes.

Nathan explained further, "The marriage was secretly arranged by the Scotts in collaboration with the Greys to secure a business partnership with the powerful Kim family."

The whole matter became clearer to Jason upon hearing that, and a dangerous smile appeared on his face.

"Where is the venue for the wedding ceremony?" he asked Nathan.

"It's at one of the Kim family hotels, sir—the Imperial Crown Hotel."

Jason nodded and said to Nathan, "Arrange for a perfect gift for the groom. We will be attending."
