Ethan stretched lazily on the couch as he tried to maintain his balance on the tiny bed he lay on.
He opened his eyes slightly, and the light from the television hit his face.
It was then that he became conscious of his surroundings.
He had fallen asleep in the living room after the call with Emily.
He sat up on the couch and yawned one more time. He felt better after sleeping that long.
As he stood up, he found his mobile phone on the floor. It had fallen when he was asleep.
Ethan just picked up the phone, looked at the time and dropped it back on the couch as he walked away into his bedroom.
It was already 10 am, and he had a lot of plans for the day.
Ethan went to his bedroom and emerged forty minutes later, dressed in a grey t-shirt and a pair of black shorts.
He held his car keys in his hand and looked ready to go out.
He came to the living room, turned off the television, picked up his phone and walked out of the room, making his way to his car parked in the garage.
Ethan sat in the car and started the engine, leaving it to run for a short while while he opened his phone.
He had two messages from Emily. One of them thanked him for accepting the meeting, and the other provided him with the address of a private rooftop restaurant. Ethan did not reply to the message; instead, he scrolled through his messages again and fished out the address Mr Frost had sent to him the previous day.
He copied the address in the message and typed it into his car GPS, instantly giving him the directions to the place.
Ethan set a playlist to play, closed the door and slowly drove out of his house.
Getting onto the main road, he drove with a smile on his face, enjoying his life.
Twenty minutes' drive on the freeway later, he found himself in the most expensive estate in the country.
It was a full estate, owned by a single person.
The inscription that welcomed him at the entrance was “THE FROST ESTATE”. Ethan drove slowly into the state, pulling over at the military checkpoint right ahead of him.
He turned down the volume of the music that was playing on the speaker and lowered his window glass to address them.
“Good morning, sirs.” Ethan greeted politely.
“Good morning, sir. Welcome to Frost Estate. How may we help you today? One of the military men, evidently their leader, asked him.
“My name is Ethan Stone, and I am here to see Mr Reginald Frost,” Ethan said calmly.
The military men who heard him had pale faces at once. One of them, who held a weapon detector, ready to scan his car, immediately retreated on hearing the name.
The leader of the men quickly took out his phone from his pocket, looked at something on it, took a glance at Ethan, and immediately saluted him. Ethan knew it might have been his picture that the man had looked at to confirm his identity.
“Welcome, Doctor Ethan. The boss is expecting you. My men will escort you to the residence.” The man said.
Ethan looked ahead of him and saw a military man sitting on a motorbike with a siren on it.
Ethan nodded.
“Thank you, officer, I appreciate it,” Ethan said politely, flashing him a smile.
The motorbike began blowing its siren.
The military men saluted as Ethan slowly moved the car following the motorbike into the now open big gates of the estate.
He drove, following the escort, and that was when he noticed a second bike with the same features as the first, following him.
The feeling was unimaginable for him.
He felt like an important person for once in his life.
He just wished he could continue driving like this forever, and gradually, a permanent smile landed on his face as he enjoyed the escort.
The road was free, and he sped, enjoying the escort. The road was empty, just occasional military checkpoints on the road, which were immediately opened as they heard the sound of the siren.
For four minutes, he drove at a hundred kilometres per hour on the road and couldn't help but wonder how big and wide the estate was.
Looking at the map in his car, he was nowhere near the middle of the estate, and Ethan realised that the estate was bigger than he had ever imagined.
It looked like a city on its own. A big school, an ultramodern hospital, banks and all the other amenities.
The buildings in the estate were nothing short of extraordinary. Big mansions that Ethan knew cost billions of dollars, most of them occupied by people.
“People are rich in this country, man. Living in a place like this is no joke.” Ethan said aloud to himself.
After seven minutes of driving behind the escort. They finally slowed then as another big gate was opened for them. Ethan looked at his map and realised he was now perfectly in the middle of the estate. They drove into a big compound that also housed an extraordinary and extravagant storey building.
The building was four storeys high and was painted lavishly. The big compound in front of the house, a pool and a poolside bar, a balcony, and a beautifully cultivated garden were all in the compound.
There was a big garage that housed tens of luxury cars, military motorbikes and a collection of sports cars.
He followed the motorcade to park inside the garage.
Ethan, after driving into the garage, was amazed at the collection of cars in the garage.
He couldn't help but smile sheepishly as he stared at the cars in great awe and admiration.
He suddenly felt like a villager who had been introduced to city life.
The two military men who had brought him in came to him and walked him from the garage. By the time they got to the compound, Mr Reginald Frost himself was standing in front of the mansion, meeting Etjhan with a wide smile on his face.
“You are welcome to my humble abode, Doctor Ethan. I really appreciate you coming here to see me," Mr Frost said as he extended his hand for a handshake.

Ava and Jake sat in their Maserati, in the parking lot of a fancy restaurant, chatting. Although the air conditioner in the car was on full blast, Jake was visibly sweating, indicating he had just come in from the outside.“What did you get?” Ava asked Jake as he sat down, dabbing the sweat off his face with a tissue.“Hmmm.” Jake took a deep breath and shook his head.“Nothing. All the information I had on him was what we already know about him.He was a car salesman; he was imprisoned, and now he has been released. There is no record whatsoever that he was or is a medical doctor anywhere in the world. He came out of jail four days ago and is currently supposed to be a homeless guy with nothing, so I am currently wondering where he got the car and all that from,” Jake narrated.Ava’s face was expressionless. “So how do we explain the people who knew him and referred to him as a doctor? The car he drives and all that?” Ava asked, demanding more answers and explanations from Jake.“Th
